App is great to use and I usually take my orders to go. It's not big inside and they don't have any tables or chairs outside to sit down. Today, I preordered a bagel with shmear, large coffee, but the bagel was extremely cold and barely toasted and I had to ask for a large cup instead of a small I received when I picked it up. I've discovered a fascinating business model at this Einstein Bagels location: a bagel shop that routinely runs out of bagels. Last time I came in, about half the normal bagels were already gone. But don't worry -- the "premium" bagels that cost extra were fully stocked. You know, the ones that are basically just fancy rolls pretending to be bagels. Funny how the only bagels that survive the morning rush are the ones with the surcharge. So today I tried a new strategy: show up right when they open. Ten minutes after opening... they were already out of several bagels again. Which raises the obvious question: how does a bagel shop run out of bagels ten minutes after opening? When I asked if they had more in the back, one employee said she'd check. Another employee quietly told her they were "holding them in the back." So apparently some of the bagels are being hoarded in the back for employees or their friends while customers are told they're out. That would certainly explain why half the selection is mysteriously gone the moment the doors open. I ended up just walking out. Honestly, it might have been for the best. The last time I actually bought bagels here, they were dry and disappointing. At this point I'll save myself the trip and just buy Dave's Killer Bread bagels at the store. At least the grocery store doesn't operate a bagel black market in the back room. No wonder this place only has about a 3-star rating. read more

Einstein Bagels took over the space where Game Stop used to be...I had so many good memories bringing my kids there. Well, I decided to visit while waiting on other errands today. I read some of the other reviews beforehand, and tbh I was a bit scared to go afterwards haha I had nothing but a great experience today though! I was greeted right away. The space was ample and clean. I ordered through the app, so my order was waiting for me on the shelves. I was pleased to get a free Bagel of choice with schmear as a reward on the app. I sat at a clean table while making some business calls. There were a few customers in the store, one was working while snacking, others were chatting with friends. One was gentle parenting her non verbal toddler. I enjoyed my visit. I liked that it is more roomy inside compared to the H street store. I did not experience any rudeness or uncleanliness, only good vibes and good food. read more

I have been here at least 5 times and every time no matter what I go in there is a 30 minute wait for a bagel. There could be 3 people in there and you wait anyway. I have ordered online and show up at the ready time and still wait 15-20 minutes. There will be 6 people working and you will see people standing around and/or just folding boxes when there is bagels to be made. It is the only location in San Diego County that I have had this experience. Very disappointing since I live so close. read more

When I checked in after 20 minutes, I was told it was just due to the rush, though the delay persisted. Since my kids were hungry, we decided to eat inside. We realized then that we were short one bagel, but I want to give props to the manager, who corrected the mistake immediately when I brought it to her attention. I appreciate her quick fix, but I hope the order flow can be improved; it seemed like the delays occurred because order slips were constantly being moved around, causing some to be missed. So happy to have another Einstein Bros in Chula Vista and with lots of parking. The one in Terra Nova plaza is so cramped and there's always a line. I came here on a Monday morning around 9:30 and there was no line. There is plenty of seating and it was clean and inviting inside. My order came out within minutes, my bagel was neatly made and had a good amount of cream cheese on it. The passion fruit sunrise mocktail was okay, the orange juice concentrate it was made with tasted a bit too fake for my liking. It was so nice to be able to enjoy my meal at a table. Arrived right at 5 and they were open as I got there. It was larger than I expected and very inviting. They had a bunch of employees right up front and they were very friendly. Bagels are good but if you order through their app, do not leave before checking your order. They often, very often, forget things in my order and I haven't noticed until after I've left which makes it very inconvenient, especially if you've paid for something and didn't receive it. Check your order! A majority of the staff is very friendly, but there are some that look annoyed when you tell them they forgot something in your order, and not annoyed because they forgot something, but annoyed that you are bothering them. read more

I gave this Einstein Bros. Bagels another chance after avoiding it for almost a year, and somehow it was still disappointing. Last time, my breakfast bagel was cold, flavorless, and terrible. This time, I paid an extra $2 for cream cheese, and they put on such a tiny amount that I'm not even sure what I paid for. They also take forever to make basic bagels, which makes the whole experience even more irritating. I'm tired of wasting my money and time here just to leave disappointed. Waited at the pickup area for my order and 10 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready, I asked the girls at the counter where my order was. It was sitting on top of the bagel counter the whole time because one of my bagels was not available at 8:49am and they wanted to know if I wanted a replacement. Well how can I choose a replacement if no one bothers to call out and ask? By then my hot sandwich is no longer hot and they refused to make me a new one. Rough start for this place. Hoping for a turnaround. Glad to have an Einstein Bagel in the Eastlake area to provide an alternative and offer other breakfast alternative. 1) Products. Cant go wrong with the bagels. You know what you're getting here and its quality bagels and sandwiches. Coffee can do some work but you go here for the bagels, right? 2) Customer Service. This (and #3) is where you get the 2*. Place was dirty and unkempt. In our 45 minute wait (weekend at about 830-9 AM), didn't observe anybody cleaning the tables. No one assisting the lone cashier who was trying to process all the order. 3) Atmosphere. Chaotic at best. Some places there is a controlled chaos that you will be able to observe. I cant seem to understand the process or flow. Didn't observe any manager trying to process orders along or helping the crew. 4) Location. Busy plaza where parking can be challenging. Watch the times as they close early - no issues there, but might surprise some folks. Id chalk it off to "new" restaurant growing pains. May not return for a while to let the hype die down and to let the staff figure out their processes. Id let you know in a few months. read more

I came here today with my toddler and nearly all the tables were dirty. I counted 9 employees and no one could wipe down the tables for customers to eat. The only clean tables was being used by other customers. Once I received my order I asked for forks so I could feed my toddler while standing up, employee said they ran out of forks! No forks! Only knives! What kind of business has no forks to eat their food? Oh and on top of this, I asked for the meat on side instead of on my farmhouse, and they charged me extra as if I ordered double meat! What is going on here? Is this how Einstein is ran? I recently had a disappointing experience at this location of Enstiane Bagels. Despite usually going to the H Street branch, I chose this one due to its proximity. I ordered two Novo Lux boxes to go, and unfortunately, the sandwiches were poorly made to the point that my wife and I had to throw them away. Hoping for a better experience, I returned to order a brunch box for my family. When I requested no eggs in the sandwich, the manager or shift leader informed me that they couldn't accommodate any changes to the box. This lack of flexibility and service is frustrating. So I had to come back again and let them know for a second time that I had ordered with jalapeno salsa shmear, so they put a little shmear and handed it back to me. It wasn't busy but they are just not paying attention to detail. The second I stepped foot in the door and headed towards the mobile pick up shelf, the employee manning the area yelled really loudly "What's the name on your order" I was 20 feet away! I don't feel comfortable screaming my name across the packed store. We were so far away that she couldn't hear me so I had to yell again. I understand they are probably trying to mitigate theft and making sure people can't just read the name on the receipt, but couldn't they just turn the bags toward the counter so only the employee can see the names? The bagel that they chose for my sandwich was unusually small and round ( instead of a normal flat bagel size) which made my sandwich really hard to eat. Also, they forgot my fruity cereal pop which was a bummer but I'm not going to drive all the way back for that. This location is new so I understand growing pains.
