Since Dr Determan has left the practice the level of customer service has declined significantly. From trying to get an appointment and the systems being down for 3 weeks to waiting to see the the optics personnel for ordering my contacts as I sat in the waiting room alone for 40 minutes as the ladies worked on their computers and when they finally called my name they did not have my paperwork even ready- or able to clearly convey insurance costs. I am greatly disappointed in what yuma vision center has become. I would have quickly recommended them all day long in the past. That is no longer the case. #verydissappointed read more

I couldn't be more happier when I was referred here by my healthcare insurance; it's located 5 minutes from my residence and I thought the customer service and the professionalism was and is top notch. So after leaving Eyemart Express in Yuma (See Today's earlier review). I went a bit down the road to Yuma Vision Center. I was immediately greeted at the desk, my name was written down and called within 5 minutes. I sat at a young woman's desk and explained to her, my glasses needed to be looked at, and perhaps needed a bit of glue to reinforce them from breaking loose. She immediately got up, took them to the back, repaired them, cleaned them and brought them back to me. I was charged five dollars and happy to pay it. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. I once was blind but now I see, thanks to the amazingly graceful eyeball champions at YVC. I squint you not, spectacular spectacles for your dumb face including mine, but when I walked in they made my face smart again. Would definitely get my peepers from 'em again. I had a great experience this morning at the Yuma Eye Center. I called on a Thursday and had an appointment by the following Monday. With the current pandemic in full bloom I was quite hesitant about getting a new prescription but my readers were scratched and my prescription had expired. The customer service was superb. Per safe protocols of the CDC I made a call in the parking lot to first make sure I was at the correct eye doctor and second to let them know I was there. I was at the wrong address and luckily I was only 5 minutes away. In spite of my tardiness they were able to see me. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism by the staff and the doctor as well. Most importantly though was the outstanding level of cleanliness throughout the whole process. I felt relatively safe from the time I walked in till the time I left. I didn't purchase glasses this time because of having to wear a mask but just because it's hard to pick a style with my mask. I would recommend Yuma Vision to anyone looking for prescription eyewear. Plus the prescription is good for 2 years. read more

I really like Dr Determan but the front office ladies are very unpleasant , I have been a patient of his for maybe 10 years now and I was emailed a request to make my yearly visit in Feb, I called and they said they could not see me until MAY! When you are a contact lens patient you run out and this is so wrong, I told them this but they did not care. I will be going to Corona Optique, my kids go there and they are always so nice, I will miss Dr Determan but I just cant take his employees anymore. Last year I could not keep my eye open when they do the air puff and they got so mad at me, never nice. I would avoid this, wish I could talk to Dr Determan, I am sure he would not like this but I cant get through to him :( read more

Dr. D was wonderful - as a new patient in his office, he was kind, sympathetic to my numerous vision issues and worked patiently w/ me to find the right prescription. The optical folks were friendly and addressed all fitting issues quickly. I ended up purchasing three pairs of prescription sunglasses! I am happy w/ each pair although the cost was a bit high considering I have medical issues which should have provided the glasses w/ insurance coverage and a lower co-pay. I know this b/c the optics places I utilized in Phx NEVER charged me more than $200 for any pair of glasses even when I needed them replaced due to vision loss months later... read more

Dr. D was absolutely great, no complaint on the actual eye exam. If it were for just that part, I'd give 5 stars. However, the front office ladies are extremely unpleasant and ruined the experience. They did not make my husband or I feel welcome at all. A lady named Olga was supposed to be helping us pick out glasses for my husband, and when she told us the price after insurance on the ones we had chosen, we kindly said "Okay, if you don't mind, we would like to discuss the price first before making a decision." (Like any normal married couple would and SHOULD do... she then proceeded to walk over to the front desk lady and we heard her say in a rude tone, "It's not even that expensive." I'M SORRY, but what kind of disgusting display of customer service is that?? Shaming us because we needed to discuss the price first before making a decision??? Staff and Dr. Determan was Excellent. I was having vision issues, this was my 3rd stop. Brought my Eye Exam Prescription from Aiello. When the glasses came, I'm like I can't see. Well Dr Determan, reexamine my eyes, found out I had something wrong with my left eye. This was why I went to Aiello in the first place but nothing was ever said or done. Dr. Determan gave me drops, waited 6 weeks had me rechecked again..great improvment, remade my glasses. I can see. ....Dr Determan is my Favorite Eye Dr and I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and the care he took with me. DO NOT SUPPORT PREDATORY BUSINESSES Went for a pair of glasses with a prescription in hand and insurance. Picked out frames for $282, of which my insurance would pay $230 plus 20% off over the $230. Lenses are covered in full, so only needed to add anti-reflective coating, with a $20 co-pay. So my final price should be, $41.60 for frames plus $20, equals 61.60 plus tax. They then inform me there is an additional $40 charge from the insurance for rimless glasses. I contacted Aetna to inquire why they do not cover a rimless frame, and they informed me they cover the cost of frames to $230 and lenses in full, there is no extra charge. Went back in and spoke to the manager who then called Aetna and was told the same thing. She then told me it was an additional lens option she enters into the insurance claim, causing an additional charge not covered. The frames are rimless and I am paying a price already for the frames that way. Why not just say the frames are $322 if that is the cost of the frames. It is only meant to recoup some of their mark-up lost by insurance companies set price on frames, which is much less than what non-insurance customers would have to pay for the same frames. I will not support predatory practices, and will take my business elsewhere before paying additional unnecessary mark-ups aimed at insurance customers. read more

Just picked out some frames and lenses from here and Optician Olga helped me with my frames and discussed in great detail my first pair of progressive lenses, she's so amazing and always so happy. Had my eye exam appt. today with Dr. Determan. Reception was very friendly, greeted me, then I signed in. I was called promptly by a tech to start the exam. Tech was also very friendly and explained what the purpose of each machine was. After a very short wait Dr. Determan came in to the exam room and he completed a thorough exam. Showed me my healthy eyeball scans and we had some friendly conversation about changes with eyesight once you go over the 40 year old hump!! Great doctor, very personable, answered all my questions. Next I was taken to the optical shop, where the young lady was also very friendly, told me to take my time picking my glasses. In and out in 45 minutes from start to finish. This is a great business, awesome staff and doctors, one stop shop for all your vision health needs. read more

Called 6/5/18. The soonest available appointment was July 31 for a returning customer. Went to a different doctor for exam yet still came back to purchase glasses. Customer service is absolutely horrible. Walked through at least 5 times looking at glasses. Not a single acknowledgement of, 'Hello,welcome,may I help you, Hi we'll be with you momentarily... nothing! This is the third time I've been here and it is always the same. It's always nice to walk in to a business and be greeted with a smile from the front desk ladies and those smile continue to the exam room with the friendly techs and Dr. Determan super nice as always and then to end the visit opticians helped me pick the best glasses and get a great deal.
