    2 piece ramen
    Emily X.

Extremely small spot. Seating is very limited and the space feels tight, so be prepared to wait. The broth is very rich and heavy -- flavorful but definitely filling. The noodles are thick, chewy, and satisfying, and they hold up well against the broth. You can choose the amount of meat you want. The pork was a bit dry and could have been more tender. Toppings are minimal.

I want to do this review right. I want to give this business extreme fairness because of how honest the owner, Jake, is about his food, but also about himself. First off, this is not just a ramen shop. In fact, it is barely a ramen shop. No wait, it is barely a restaurant at all. Only three rows of seating, only six at a time being let in, and yes it does get busy with a line at the door. The ramen is made only one way. Beef broth, noodles, sprouts, chashu pork, mushrooms, seaweed, and some garlic. You can modify the ramen if you wish. I did, but this is not about the food. It is not perfect, Jake is not a perfect man. He says this openly and honestly. Some bowls are saltier than others. Some may have more noodle or garlic than others. The idea is not to be uniform, but to be different and aspire to dream differently. Think differently but not condescendingly. While eating it almost feels like you are at a workshop, a restaurant, and a seminar as Jake cooks and talks to you like an average person. I enjoyed talking to him and I loved his Average Joe demeanor. Sometimes you talk to these restauranteurs and they make it out like they had to pour their blood, sweat, and tears into the business to be successful. Jake does not take the easy route. He explains he had money, but it did not make him happy. He could have taken the easy route, but wants others to explore their own path to happiness and success. The big takeaway? To dream big and never let it go, even if it does not happen right away. Anything is possible if you can dream it and put in the effort. The way I watched him make that ramen, I can see this is a man who learned his craft the hard way, but the reward has paid off. Rather than rest on his laurels, he continues to better himself each day, and that is the message he is trying to pass onto his patrons without being too patronizing. Thank you Jake for allowing me into your world for a little bit. I am graciously humbled by what you have to offer, which is more than just a bowl of soup.

After all these years, still hands down the best Ramen ever... bar none. A heaping bowl of delicious & slowly cooked to perfection broth, large melt in your mouth pieces of pork, noodles &... say YES to the delicious garlic. Always say yes to the garlic. Coupled with the insanely uplifting & positive energy from the staff, impossible not to have the full enjoyable experience at Yume.

Still the BEST ramen in Boston. The noodles are so thick and bouncy..can't get them anywhere else! Would recommend coming right when they open otherwise there'll be a wait. Always worth the drive from south shore.

We came here for dinner on a weekday evening and we were so glad and full after. The wait was long, be expected to wait at least 30 mins. Your whole party needs to be there and they let people in by rows. You order first and then pay. Once you have paid, you can get water and utensils. You sit in a wooden chair and the person next to you might be someone else. Your bowl of hot ramen comes in order of when you order yours. I do not recommend getting spicy if you are curious. It is very spicy. I enjoyed my SO's dish more since it was the regular broth. They ask you if you want to share your dream after eating. You can if you want to. No one did when I was there..& I also did not have something to share. It is also a place where you should be fully present enjoying your food so they gently remind you to get off your phone, if you are on it. Can't wait to be back! Def recommend and I was so full.

I loved the whole experience of dining at Yume Wo Katare. This small restaurant has their service down to a science - a simplistic menu of pork ramen (with options only to modify quantity of pork and garlic), bar rows of seating, and the optional experience of sharing your dreams post consumption. I loved the ramen - perfect level of salt and garlic, soft pork slices, and thick noodles. Simple, cheap, and done so well. I loved hearing other peoples dreams, it was a cute way to feel connected with others in the Cambridge community. You can tell the restaurant really caters to the students in the area with the inspirational decorations, classroom like setting, and cheap menu full of student discounts. Such a unique and sweet dining experience that I cannot wait to share with others.

    Vegetarian ramen / vegan ramen

This review is only for the vegan ramen! Not their standard meat one, about which the man sitting next to me said that he was visiting from Japan and that the ramen here was better than what he could get in Tokyo. My review is: it was fine. Would I wait for it again 20 minutes in line before the restaurant opened, and then another 25 minutes while the first two rows of customers filed in? Probably not, but the restaurant was fun to experience as other reviewers have already written about, and I'm happy to have finally tried it! The noodles were delicious, the broth itself was underwhelming for how much thought went into developing it (as described on their Instagram). Not bad by any means but also just not that interesting of a flavor. The dumplings were nice.

This place gets five stars for food, service, ambience, and organization. True to the culture, everything about this dining experience ran like clockwork. The space inside is small, only three rows of people can fit inside. So that's the way that they seat, groups of six at a time and they will walk through the line and check each group's party size to get exactly 6. No seat will go empty until they close. Once inside you'll place your order, it's all pork Ramen so you're really just determining how much pork and garlic you'd prefer. Trust me no other customizations are necessary, these guys know what they're doing. When each row is finishing up, they do a little something special which I won't ruin for any first timers, but I will say they've made sure it's a positive experience for everyone. Our Ramen came out within minutes of us being seated, and it was absolutely delicious! My friend and I were stuffed when we left and wish we could take our leftovers with us, but unfortunately that's not allowed. I think because ramen doesn't always reheat well, they want to keep the integrity of their ramen associated with how it's served in the restaurant (this is just my theory). It makes sense to me and makes this a special place for ramen that I can't wait to come back to and share this experience with others.

This place specializes in pork ramen, so it really comes down to how much pork and garlic you want. The server asks if you'd like extra garlic, and we went for it. You definitely get your money's worth with a solid, filling portion. The seating is like a classroom setup, and after eating, they ask if you'd like to share your dream (it's totally optional). I've seen people come alone and still share their dreams, which adds a cute/wholesome touch. I think it's especially nostalgic for people who went to school nearby. The ramen was delicious, and I loved the garlic, though I found the broth a bit too salty. Personal preference-wise, I'm a bigger fan of the udon at Yume Ga Arukara, the sister branch nearby that opens after this place closes!

Third time here! Always enjoy the experience. Arrived right at opening and had no line with nobody else in front of us on a Thursday at 4pm. Some people came after and they got a way higher stack of veggies on top (maybe they were friends with the workers?) low key not cool... I'd want more veggies too... Ramen bowls are hefty. I love the noodle texture and freshness. The soup was a bit salty. Had to finish the bowl though.

What a fun restaurant experience! I had to wait in line for ~10-15 minutes to get in but it was definitely worth it. The wait is also understandable because the dining room is fairly small and intimate. You get a huge serving for the price and the staff are super fun and engaging. 10/10 recommend! Everything was delicious!

Delicious food made by passionate people. Noodles are house made, so they are wonderfully chewy. The broth is rich and tasty. Everything is also customizable--just ask Jake for the amount of bean sprouts, meat, saltiness, cabbage, garlic, or noodles that you want. (Extra noodles and pork cost extra.) Yume is known for its big portions and big dreamers: share a dream you have or listen to others. Always fun to visit and delicious to eat.

Came here on a wednesday night at 6.30, there was a 30 minute line outside to get in. There is only one type of ramen (pork) and you can choose either 2 or 5 slices. You get the option to add "delicious garlic" - who can say no to that? A very authentic and tasty bowl of ramen. The best part of the experience was sharing your dreams with everyone in the restaurant and being gently graded on how you ate (perfect, good job, could do better, etc). Jake and the rest of the staff are very inspirational and kind. Would definitely go again. Parking for free very close by at Porter Square.

How much is a bowl of ramen?

What, if any, options do they have for vegetarians? (Includes no meat in the broth)

Part of the charm of this place and I think what makes their ramen so amazing is the simplicity of the menu. Unfortunately, if you're vegetarian those choices each have pork.

Is this still a CASH-ONLY restaurant? I've read conflicting sources that cards can now be used.

not cash-only anymore. When I went 2 months ago you order via your phone/scan QR. so it's a digital ordering system even if you're eating in person, and you pay via credit card to place the order. Hope this helps!

Do they still have the plastic bowls or they switched back to regular bowls?

They recently went back to their ceramic bowls👌

Are they open for indoor dining yet? What's the best way for getting a table? I'm in Boston for a weekend and wanted to give it a try.

They are open for indoor dining now! They don't take reservations so the best way is really to get in line as early as you can...

Can I make an order online or over the phone? Or are orders only taken in person? What website can I order from? I noticed a couple, not sure if they're both currently in use.

You can definitely place an order online. They use a system similar to toast tab Note that they are…

When might dine in will become available? Carry out isn't the same as eating in and sharing your dreams is part of the experience.

Dine in has been available! Can confirm that eating in and sharing dreams is a wonderful experience.

Is this place open for takeout?

They have a ticket system for takeout now. There is a certain number of tickets that comes out everyday and it last until 2pm or whenever they sell out. There's more imformation on their Facebook page.

To owner: Please consider opening for lunch?

I can't find a phone number for this place, is yelp right that it's closed tomorrow (Sunday)?

It's usually only open Tuesday-Saturday. Check their Instagram or Facebook page for more accurate times. Sometimes they may open on Sundays but it's rare.

Is there MSG in their ramen?

The biochemical essence about miso & soy sauce is MSG. Just like Parmesan cheese. Very cool Biochemistry about these. And of course, no miso sauce or soy sauce, there will be no ramen. So even you are told by non scientist there is no added…

Do they have a vegetarian option? I know, they make their broth with pork

Not that I'm aware, Pikaichi is probably the only vegetarian ramen place in town.

    Does Yume offer pork-free broth?

No, they don't. Unfortunately, Pork is source of their delicious broth..

How many grams of noodles come with an extra order? I usually get an extra order but I'm still slightly hungry after finishing both :(

A lot. I don't know the specific grams, but it's a very full bowl of noodles. I left extremely will with the 5 pieces of meat and I am a rather large eater.

What's the special phrase to get a bowl of buta ramen that looks like a mini Mount Fuji? I ordered a buta with extra vegetables but it wasn't massive like a couple of other patrons.?…

You can order the large size and it will look like Mount Fuji

Am I allowed to bring in my own hot sauce or condiments to doctor up my ramen?

You could I guess but just don't do it so overtly - on the other hand they do offer a spicy ramen option

How is the wait? Thank you

There will most likely be a wait! But a lot longer during peak hours. I got there at around 5:15 pm on a Friday and waited around 15-20 minutes.

Do they offer a soy sauce marinated soft boiled egg? If so, does it come with it or do you have to ask for it?

No it does not. As far as items that they serve, it is only one ramen. It comes with the noodles, topped with a mixture of boiled beans sprouts/cabbage, fresh crushed garlic, meat (belly or shoulder which you can ask), and abura (stewed diced pork…

Since we were here on a weekday we tried the ramen combos (+$2 each) and added a tsukune bun and 2 pieces of chicken karaage. The tsukune bun was delicious! The chicken meatball was so juicy and the bun came with a zesty horseradish/wasabi sauce. The karaage was also quite crispy and tasty, although I wish it came with the same sauce that the tsukune bun had. The ramen was delicious. Although their chashu was lean, it was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The ground pork was also surprisingly delicious! I often find that the ground pork at other ramen spots is forgettable, but the ground pork here was rich, perfectly seasoned, and not too dry. I'm a sucker for soft-boiled eggs and the egg here made my day (I might even order extra egg next time!). I was actually not a fan of the corn fritter. It had a fun texture but I would have preferred loose corn in my ramen. However, a lot of other reviewers seem to love it. The ramen noodles were nicely al dente and both broths I tried were very rich. The red devil is no joke! To me it was more spicy than the classic buldak spicy chicken ramen.
