We were looking for a quick bite after the race and found Tora in town. It's not a big place, so happy to get seated quickly. We got the Aji Fry app which was a good starter. I enjoyed the Kiiro with pork and ajitama, had to pare the scallion mound. The Tantan was also good with a bit of heat. Hit the spot.

The ramen and chicken was satisfying but I think my expectations won on this one. It's still worth a stop for a quick bite but the area has strong food competition. Food: The ramen was very light and had an authentic feel but the tonkatsu broth was not as rich as I expected. The kuro karage came out piping hot and had a great flavor. It has a unique look but the charcoal meant people taking any medications couldn't try it. Service: The staff was super busy so check-ins were minimal, but they were friendly when they did. Another small inconvenience was that the fried chicken arrived when we were all almost done with our bowls of ramen. Atmosphere: The interior is cozy and the bar seating is great for watching the kitchen. It feels like a great place for a solo meal. The one negative would be the ripple effects of the small space. There was always a line but with the cold people were constantly opening the door and crowding the entrance as they waited.

This was the perfect spot to catch a quick bite to eat before a show at the Wilbur. It's very tiny - like maybe 20 seats. So you add your name to a list (and may need to wait outside). Everyone in line raved about how good it was so we were excited to try it. Our group of 4 didn't have to wait too long and were able to sit together along the bar side. Bowls came out quickly and the broth was truly delicious. Recommend if you're in the area!

Cash only establishment! Can sometimes have a line and waitlist where you physically write your name on a paper. Ramen soup and noodles are so delicious! Broth is rich and flavorful. Tried the spicy miso ramen and had a bite of the black garlic and spicy tonkatsu, all were so tasty in their own way. Gyoza and sesame tofu appetizers were also great, fries were just ok. Overall a great meal!

Amazing place, authentic Ramen. Just got back from Japan and this is the best Ramen I've had in the states. Place is cash only but has an atm with a small fee.

Tora Ramen is a small, quaint little corner spot in Boston's Chinatown. The service is friendly and attentive. It's cash-only, but there's an ATM conveniently placed right at the front as you walk in. The karaage came out looking a bit burnt, but it tasted surprisingly good. The ramens were all rich, bold, and so flavorful. Every bowl was delicious and satisfying. We will definitely be back!

Great experience dining at Tora Ramen. We walked in on a weekend before a show and got seated right away though a line quickly formed after we arrived. It's a small space! True to its name, the ramen was delicious and warmed you up on a frigid winter day. I got the spicy miso ramen which had the perfect mild spice level to my liking and packed with flavor. The ramen came with scorched pork belly (melt in your mouth) and egg, and perfect chewy noodles served quick and fresh. This is a cash only establishment, so be prepared!

Fantastic ramen. Had a delicious tofu side dishe as well. Sadly I don't recall the names of either, but I had one day in the city before flying out that evening and this was exactly what I wanted. Flavors were outstanding. Prices were extremely reasonable. Wish I could go weekly.

This ramen REVIVED ME. I personally feel soup is healing and this ramen healed me. The broth was flavorful and rich and complex. The thick and thin noodles were all cooked to perfection! The toppings were fresh and thoughtfully chosen. I loved it. The spice was flavorful and not just hot in temperature. Dare I say this is the best ramen in Boston* (at least in my experience). The service was friendly and quick. The area is a bit cramped but the place is clean. The bathrooms were very clean. The vibes were immaculate, reminiscent of the hustle and bustle of night markets.

Wait list was very informal, just wrote our names down on a sheet of paper and waited outside. Came in as a party of 2 and only waited about 10 minutes max. They only accept cash! We were served very quickly. The place is relatively small but did not feel as cramped as some other spots in the city. I got the Tantan ramen, which was delicious and creamy. The croquettes were piping hot and really creamy, I would 100% get these again.

I liked this place!! It's a tiny shop, but there was no waiting at 2:30pm on Thursday. However, judging from the sign on the door that says "you'll have to wait outside because there is no space inside to wait", I'm guessing waiting to be let in is a real possibility at a more popular time. I got the black garlic tonkotsu ramen ($18). The chashu was perfect, soft and tender thick slices of pork with the fat rendered flawlessly to melt in your mouth. The broth was flavorful, no complaints. The noodles were great. The ajitama egg was perfectly hanjuku and not overcooked at all. My one complaint is that they should really toast the garlic before they put it in the ramen. The garlic seemed to be just minced raw garlic. Toasting the garlic until it's browned is what gives it the extra flavor. Please keep in mind that this is a cash only establishment. They do have an ATM in the wall right at the door though, and Chase Bank is just around the corner.

Great value. Split miso ramen and was so full. The broth is amazing. Also got pork dumplings. Dumplings were like none I've ever tasted. Delicate and with crunchy parts. This is really a hole in the wall neighborhood place for locals. No reservations. Service was fine. Must try.

Ramen was 10/10. Super flavorful & if you don't want the pork they offered us double egg. The service was good & ambiance was great too. Smells amazing in here but I did leave and smelled kinda like the food so just a warning! But I'll definitely come back.

The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. We started with a salmon yamakake ($13) which had a very fresh, delicate flavor. The grated yam adds a super gooey texture which might not be for everyone. Both of us went for hot udon dishes and tried the beef sukiyaki ($20) and roast duck ($25). I loved how the broth in each dish was unique, super savory, yet light at the same time. I was initially a little bit annoyed at the price point for these dishes, but after seeing just how much protein each udon came with, I felt that the price was very fair. The udon was bouncy, chewy, and a decent portion size. I ended up having to take some leftovers home. Of the noodle soups I've had in Boston over the past year, I think the broth at Somenya has been my favorite! I can't wait to come here again to warm up with their broth on a cold winter day.

When we walked into Legal, the place was dead, the music was awful, and the vibe was just not there. So we sat at the bar and grabbed a drink while searching for a place to get an actual dinner where we could find last-minute reservations. Shojo in Chinatown came up with great reviews and after looking at the menu and seeing that we could get a reservation, we headed over. It was a short walk from the Ritz and Chinatown is just such a fun place with great energy. When we walked in, we knew we had made the right call and were easily able to switch our reservation from a table to bar seats, which is always an added bonus. The place is low lit and the music is on the louder side, but nothing was excessive to the point that we didn't enjoy our time there. We ordered a variety of drinks while there - a Toki Highball draft, a spicy tequila drink with lemongrass, a few different types of Japanese whiskeys as well (they have a really extensive list). As far as food goes, they categorize their menu into Snacks, Baos, and Rice, Noodles, and Dumplings. There's a lot of vegetarian friendly options, which is always a plus for me. My highlights were the 7 vegetable stir fry, fried eggplant bao, edamame dumplings, and the Thai veggie spring rolls. The salt and pepper calamari was also really great. Everything was terrific and really unique. Service was good - not great, but they took notice of empty glasses and were quick to bring out food, so I have absolutely no complaints. Shojo is somewhere I'd absolutely return to when staying in the area, I'm really happy we all turned what would have been a very touristy, depressing experience into something with a WAY better vibe and time!
