The pork dumplings are fantastic and are jumbo. The chicken curry is wonderful. I keep going back, and this time I got the Himalayan chicken and the chicken dumplings. Both were very good. This is the perfect place for to go orders as they get you on your way pretty quickly. The staff is all friendly so I'm sure staying is a good experience as well. I was very sad when Yum Yai shut down after the fire this past March. When I heard an Asian fusion restaurant was opening on the same block this summer I was cautiously optimistic. Yummefy opened about a month ago and I have already been 4 times. Their menu is versatile and delicious. It tastes like a home-cooked meal. Not overly greasy, but tasty and made with love. Service can be a little slow but the staff is all so kind and considerate that it makes up for it. They have countless vegetarian options and they will happily switch a meat dish to tofu or paneer. The spice levels are always as advertised on the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Asian food, whether Thai, Chinese, Nepali, or Indian. also the location next to UAB Hospital is extremely convenient. I have been treating myself to a meal after a late shift. I have tried the dragon chicken/tofu, paneer fried rice, and vegetable fried rice. All were amazing! read more

Food was delicious, I did the lunch pad thai special and it was a very large portion with a lot of chicken and shrimp and amazingly flavorful. My husband and I are in town for our 20th anniversary celebration. We found this place was within walking distance to our hotel. We should have walked on down the street. We shared the dumplings, and they had a vinegar taste to them. Not good. His pork belly bowl was tough and bitter tasting. My vegetable fried rice also had a weird vinegar/bitter taste. Much like the Himalayan origins of much of their menu, my expectations were extremely high. Very pleased with beer selection, however, the calamari was quite average--likely just out of the freezer and deep fried. Happy with the spicy Himalayan chicken dish that provided nice long lasting heat with a wealth of flavor on a cool fall evening. This happiness was countered with disappointment regarding our pork fried rice. The Asian staple had that beautiful wok-hei, smoky flavor but the "pork" was basically flavorless chunks of fat from pork belly--certainly little protein involved. A good, not great Asian place offering a variety of ethnic foods but certainly not worthy of sitting a top the rankings of Birmingham's Asian food scene. read more

I have to say that this is the best Thai food I've had in Birmingham. Everything was fresh and so tasty. Spring rolls were fresh, light, crispy and full of vegetables. Coconut soup had a perfect broth with plenty of tofu, mushrooms, green onions, and a bit of greens. Served with a lime wedge that added just the right tartness. One of our diners said her chicken chow mein was delicious. Chicken was tender and cooked perfectly. Another diner had mango chicken curry which was super delicious. Terrific curry flavor. Fourth diner had the Gorkhali Chicken with a medium spice. Grilled chicken was tender and the onions and peppers were cooked perfectly. Everyone loved their food. Service was friendly and helpful. Personal opinion I could take the edamame a little more chilly-garlic but I get having to please the masses. I called to do a take out order and customer service was great it's why I give them two stars! But the food wasn't good I believe they are pre made meals that's heated in a skillet. They will not allow u to customized your order. I asked for no onions in my tofu curry they promised no onions however it was onions through out the entire curry. I asked for pad Thai noodles to have tofu they said they couldn't do this , that it would take away the flavor of the noodles. That's bs. The person who opened this restaurant doesn't know real pad Thai noodles can come with tofu. I believe I was told this because the food is frozen and microwaved. Also no parking here. read more
