Decided I wanted to make a return visit to this place after about 2 or 3 months because I missed the grill. And it was my birthday. Went in, loaded up a plate at the grill and grabbed a few things from the buffet. Reasonably, you expect the food at the buffet to really be... politely put, crap. And that's what you agreed to getting when you came back the second time, right? I've been many times, even when this place was Teppanyaki, so I knew what I was getting into and I know its colorful health code past. Unfortunately, my birthday dinner had a couple problems. First off - more or less all of the food was the usual dry bland etc, which is what I knew I was getting into. What actually bothered me was going out on a limb and deciding to try one of their little ribs for once. The only other time I'd tried them they were lacking. This time, however, they were rancid. I mean, literally rancid. I told my waiter who said he would tell the chef, which I get, but when we left 20 minutes later the same wrack was out. When asked about our meal, I answered and was promptly blown off by the lady behind the counter who said, "He checked already, sorry." That, to me, says they shrug off rancid meat. What else are they shrugging off? Gonna go out on a limb and saying they're letting their food standards fall again. As an aside - don't let them seat you at table B5 until they repair the ceiling tile above it. When that light falls, it's probably gonna hurt someone. I need a new Chinese place. read more

This is an absolute Mecca of afternoon eating. Price is phenomenol before 3:30p. You are seated then allowed to prowl in and out of unique Asian food, fresh Sushi, American food, beautiful salads and desserts. Our meal with sodas, was a wonderful surprise...... I will eat mashed potatoes just about anywhere. Not here. One bite and I was done. Very few vegetables, mostly fried things. Fried things are so over cooked, it's chewy, and there's no taste or a bitter chemically taste. I was sorry to have eaten here, but had to finish because I was hungry. Went here today and wish I didn't waste of the money they ask for mediocre food. My fiancé which is not a picky eater by no means warned me before eating the chicken and broccoli. Said it tasted like what she thought worms would taste like. Upon closer inspection of the chicken it was sautéed in some orange brain stew like sauce and I decided to stick with my mashed potatoes and rice. Short version: I've been here about 5 times and I would go again. Better version: I've been to this restaurant both under its previous and current names/ownership. I'm always a little skeptical when a restaurant is closed down and reopens under a new name but doesn't appear any different. But, I guess not excessively skeptical because I still go. On all my visits, the service has been very good. The food tastes good and the variety is nice. The place seems clean including the rest rooms. I used to be in restaurant management and I've learned that if what you can see is not clean, then what you can't see (the kitchen) probably isn't clean either. On my last visit which was dinner time on a Sunday, they were not good at keeping the buffet full but I wouldn't decline to go there since this was not the norm I previously experienced. This place is alright for a buffet. Definitely not the best I've been to, but not the worst either. My husband and I come here for the hibachi and some of the sushi. The hibachi is always excellent, but sometimes the sushi can be hit or miss. Their meats are kind of eh, and honestly don't look that appetizing. 3/5 stars. read more

All I can say is Meh. Most of the meats were the standard battered and deep fried formula. But Ive never been to a buffet where almost all of the meat is swimming or fully submerged. Very clean place, and the service was excellent. Generally the food was also good (the lo mein is awesome). The only issue I have with the food is the macaroni and cheese is always a watery soupy mess. It;s been that way for three consecutive visits over the past three weeks. There's never more than a cup of macaroni in the whole pan. I could understand if the pan was old, but this was always at the beginning of the lunch hour when the food is (presumably) fresh from the kitchen. read more

I visited here for the first time the other day and was happily surprised how hot and tasty the food was. Very nice variety. Loved the sushi. The egg roll was mushy so I deleted a star. Nice seafood. Enjoyed the fresh fruit. Nice dessert bar if you have any room. Seems like a popular place for families. Even a picky eater should find foods they like. Tried the Yummy again I must admit they have really upped their game. The food was excellent as was the service. The selrction was amazingly. I really liked their BBQ Ribs as well as their Shrimp. The price of less than 7.00 fpr lunch not including drink or tip was really good. I believe I have found a new place for lunch and dinner in Muncie. read more

Super nice people here. The have alot to pick from and when we went it didn't look like it was sitting forever. When something went empty it was filled right back up. If you forget your mask they are very polite to ask you to wear it (im 39 weeks pregnant and it truly just skipped my mind) only thing I didn't like was I asked for hot green tea. Not impressed. Minimally clean. Service was good. Food temp gets a thumbs down. The meat was fatty. Egg drop soup had weird colored egg in it. Crunchy noodles were stale. The rices were ok. General tsao chicken was sour and tasted like orange-not spicy at all. There was a large selection of items. We used a gift but they wouldn't let us use it for a tip...ok...but then they wouldn't let us run our credit card to leave the tip. Spent $40 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Formerly known as Teppanyaki Grill and Buffet, but apparently changed owners,and changed names after a run-in with the health department. I hadn't been there since my last BSU student graduated, but now have another one looking at a school in Muncie, went back. It didn't seem to have changed from what I remembered--wide variety of food, decent to good buffet sushi, especially the Inari. Other food was hot, fresh, tasted right. Place looked clean, service was quick, policed the dishes right away. Don't see any of the reported previous problems currently. Definitely will go back next time I'm in Muncie. Why only 3 stars? because even a good buffet can't really compare to a good restaruant's performance. read more

Very good deal for what it is. If you want a cheap buffet with a good spread, this place is great. Staff is nice and the location is close to Ball State. Love this place, almost everytime I went all the food was well stocked and hot. A couple times I had some food that was a little cold, but hardly ever. They have a great selection of food, even food I don't usually see, like baby octopus and frog legs. The service has always been great, prices are good sense it is an all you can eat buffet. It is clean, seating is ok if you get a booth, but not the table and chairs. The one time I went they sat us at a table to where you could barely pull your chair out and when we asked for another table/booth she agreed and later laughed with her coworker about it, but overall, I love eating there, and i love the lighting in there, it's so calm and comfortable.. I have visited this establishment plenty of times. Most times, the food is hot, service fast and polite, and we can get in and get out. Last night, however differed from the other visits. We were seated quickly as always, and I went up to get my plate ready. I sat down and began eating, once I got through a few pieces of my coconut chicken, saw a suspiciously shaped piece, I cut it open and sure enough, it was shrimp. I discarded my fork and ate the rest of the plate with my spoon, checking for other pieces. Finding none, I gave the benefit of the doubt and went to the hibachi. I gave the cook my plate, and stood back to watch. Of course the kid behind me had a plate full of lobster and shrimp, and of course instead of separating the orders, they put them side by side. I decided to trust the cook, and watched from the waiting area. From this vantage point, I could barely see MY food, but I could see a sushi cook preparing a new plate to put out on the line. She was called elsewhere towards the end of preparing the plate, and instead of wiping everything down quickly, wiped down the counter quickly and then took her gloves off BEFORE picking up food and throwing it back into the storage container for later use. Finally, I got my plate of food back and I took it to my table. I started loading a fork to eat the first bite and guess what my fork brought up? Shrimp from the other kids order. I wouldn't be upset, except for that is twice in one evening, and I am very allergic to shellfish, including shrimp. I informed the waitress, Whtiney, and she apologized for the mistake, and said she would tell management. Whitney was a very good server, and did her job well. However, I will not be going back there for a long time. I am eagerly waiting for the health department to visit on a random inspection date, or for a secret customer visit, and see these problems. This establishment has issues keeping cleanliness guidelines up to code with the county's expectations, and for no good reason. Universal procedure is not hard to follow. read more

While I generally enjoyed going to this restaurant for the the decent buffet sushi and hibachi, today's visit will be my last. My friend and I go there usually once a week for lunch together. They have a voucher for either the 7th or 8th visit free, not sure as I don't ever use it. Today was her free meal. I also get 10% off with my student ID. The price of the buffet is $6.59 for lunch as it's always been and was today. We headed to the counter to pay and I gave the cashier, Mei, the free voucher and my ID. She proceeds to try and charge me $8.08, which is a mystery as to how she got that number. I explained that's incorrect. For the last 20 visits the amount after tax was $6.40. She was trying to charge me the tax for the whole bill even though half of it was free. After trying to explain to her that I'm not responsible to pay the tax on someone else's meal (free meal), Mei gets very flippant and tries to defend her error by saying it's the government tax and she has to charge it. I can understand if you are saying you HAVE to charge tax on a meal for whatever odd reason because the state requires it, but that meal was not mine. And I have NEVER seen a business charge tax on a free meal/appetizer/dessert. So after going back and forth, the amount somehow dropped to $7.48. I still did not agree that that amount was correct. Even if I agreed to pay the tax on the free meal, it would have been an additional $.53 cents, taking the total to $6.93. After her refusing to charge me the correct amount, I just paid the bill to avoid any further headache. I told Mei that she just lost 2 loyal customers. Her response was "that's fine". I asked her for the manager's name, she said she was the manager. I asked for the owner's name because I feel he'd be very interested in knowing that his manager is mischarging people state sales tax and then dismissing them when they dispute it. Mr Wang is now the supposed owner. This place was once Teppanyaki. It was shut down 2 or 3 times for Health Code violations and then changed to its name Yummy. I still visited and just crossed my fingers that I wouldn't get food poisoning. Since they were shut down the last time, they have not recovered the majority of their business. It's mostly empty every time you go in. I find it quite appalling that they'd be so eager to lose business. After getting home and trying to imagine how Mei came to the mystery $7.48 amount, I finally figured it out. She charged me for my meal plus tax. She charged me for my friend's free meal's tax. And then she charged me sales tax AGAIN on top of that. Double state tax, but really triple tax if you consider that I was not responsible for the free meal's tax. While the difference is nominal, it's the fact that she flat out refused to listen to reasoning and in the process was rude and flippant. I would assume charging more than the state's allowed sales tax is and or should be illegal. Never again will I mess with this company and I would recommend you don't either. If the health and safety issues were not enough to turn you away, this should be. read more

This food was awful. The white rice was crispy and baked, the brown rice was burnt. The sushi was wet and soggy, there were no noodles. The dessert bar looked run down, everything was stale and tasted like it had been there a week. Paid over $25 for an adult and a child for stale, old food that tasted awful.
