I recently came into Yummy Hawaiian BBQ and ordered the loco moco. After eating, I started having an allergic reaction, so I called the restaurant to ask if there were any peanut products used in the ingredients. I was told there were peanuts involved, but there was nothing on the menu warning customers about peanuts or allergens. What made the experience worse was the response I received on the phone. Instead of showing concern, the employee seemed irritated and told me, "You didn't tell me," which honestly felt dismissive. I understand customers should communicate allergies, but restaurants should also clearly advertise major allergens, especially peanuts. Thankfully I'm okay, but I hope they improve their allergen warnings and customer service so this doesn't happen to someone else.

I was honestly enjoying my meal, it wasn't too bad overall, aside from the egg being a little overcooked. But here's the issue: if you know one of your sauces or dishes contains a common food allergen, that needs to be clearly mentioned on the menu or brought up before customers order. Even a simple "Does anyone have any food allergies?" would help. My boyfriend has a severe peanut allergy. That includes peanut oil, peanut butter, and anything containing peanuts, even if it's cooked into the food. Apparently peanuts are the "secret ingredient" in the gravy... which is honestly wild because who puts peanuts in gravy? I cook myself and have made gravy plenty of times, and never once have I seen peanuts listed in a gravy recipe. That's a serious health hazard if it's not clearly disclosed somewhere. If your dishes contain common allergens like peanuts, almonds, walnuts, etc., customers should be warned upfront instead of finding out after they've already eaten it.What made the situation worse was the employee's attitude when we called about it. After learning the gravy contained peanuts, we asked for a refund, and the employee immediately became irritated and rude. Instead of showing concern, he responded with, "Well, you didn't say anyone had an allergy." Yes, we could have mentioned the allergy beforehand, but again nobody reasonably expects gravy to contain peanuts. Regardless, if any dish contains a major allergen, that information should absolutely be listed on the menu. It's basic customer safety and basic customer service. Attached to my review is a photo of the menu brochure, and nowhere does it mention that the dish contains peanuts. Peanut allergies are extremely common and can be life threatening, so this is not something that should be overlooked or casually ignored. Customers deserve clear allergen warnings so situations like this can be avoided entirely.

First time here - mixed experience. The BBQ chicken was very good, but the BBQ beef was terrible. The beef is paper thin, like a potato chip. It's extremely dry and tough, which is not surprising when it's this thin. Prices are average, not cheap or expensive. Staff is very friendly, but the interior is messy.

yummy hawaiian bbq, small location in Antioch there was no inside seating, so it is all to go. menus are in front screens, and all plates come with sides of rice and macaroni. i ordered both the Aloha BBQ mix and Grilled Salmon too both plates, delicious, and it delivered on its great portions and taste. service was average, ambiance was slow for a weekday

This place was really good ! I was satisfied with my orders and prices were decent! I was skeptical about coming because it didn't seem like it got much traffic but I was wrong. As I waited for my food, more and more people came in waiting on either their call in or take out orders. I got a kalbi short rib plate and my honey got a bbq mix plate. I also got spam masubi and it was okay - they put waaaay too much rice in there. Other than that, everything was really good and customer service was nice.

    Curry chicken

My first time at Yummy Hawaiian BBQ in Antioch, May 29, 2026 Friday afternoon. I ordered the Curry Chicken ( I never said what size ) but came with rice, veggies and macaroni salad. EVERYTHING WAS BLAND, No Flavor at all. Curry chicken looked and tasted like BBQ /Grill chicken, not curry spice. The macaroni salad tasted like mayo and noodles! Veggies were so, so.........You may wonder why or how can I have an authority on Hawaiian BBQ. Well, only by comparison with the neighboring L&L Hawaiian BBQ a few blocks away...........L&L Hawaiian BBQ wins hands down, better and fresher. First of all, L&L macaroni salad is so flavorful, I sometimes go there just for the macaroni salad. Furthermore, Yummy's veggies were lacking in flavor and not fresh ( no snap or crunch, overcooked? ). Yummy was a Bland and unflavored meal. Grade "D+".........based on No flavor macaroni salad and no curry flavor on chicken. Full plate cost of $13 .......It is not a "eat or dine in" restaurant and lacks luster. By the way, is it just me or has anyone else noticed how ALL Asian restaurants charge you for the large size or plate. You are not asked what size, they automatically charge you for the full size or regular plate, never the small or mini size plate. You seriously would have to speak up otherwise they will upcharge you without asking or telling you. This has happened many times to me. Please, go and compare L&L Hawaiian BBQ and Yummy Hawaiian BBQ.......I think you will agree with me that one restaurant is more flavorful and fresher than the other by a landslide

Nice staff, tasty food, good portions and fair prices. Always prepares my orders quickly and efficiently. Only thing is I forgot to ask for Katsu sauce, wish they had offered it instead of me having to remember to ask. Saw another review saying they're racist - don't listen to that person. The people here are kind, hard-working folks who have always been nothing but nice to me, and I'm not white.

I was a bit hesitant to write this review, the food is good, great portion & reasonable prices, they only have to go, so place your order on door dash , or phone, not sure if they offer online. The restaurant is not much to see , is outdated and at first sight looks scary :D but do not fear is good :D

Reasonably price. Honestly, the pork belly is the star and could be the best I've had in a long time considering I still live and grew up in Oakland. At other chinese bbq spots the skin to me is usually very crunchy and chewy. But Roast Eatery pork belly skin is so light and crispy, that after a few bites the tender meat and fat slowly melts in your mouth making it very enjoyable. The sweet sauce with the pork belly is new to me. it's interesting but i prefer eating it with the ginger scallion because it helps cut the richness from the pork belly. The Haianese Chicken is exceptional. Cooked perfectly to tendernism. Anyone new to chinese bbq and wondering why the chopped chicken bone is still red or pink, that's called myoglobin so don't worry it's already cooked and means that it's perfectly gently poached. Of course, always take caution, ask questions and do a little research. If you're afraid, just eat around it, but this will probably be the best and healthiest way to eat chicken if you're on a diet. Roast Duck was flavorful, tender and nicely roasted. Definitely your go to local spot if you're in the East County (Oakley, Brentwood, or Antioch). It's also on par with local favorite spots in Oakland Chinatown like Gold Medal. Service is very straight forward and quick to order. The staff are friendly. Got our order in less than 10 minutes. Overall, I will be coming here more frequently for my chinese bbq fix and quick healthy lunch. They also own the dim sum bakery next door and it's definitely a hit too!

I came here yesterday during opening and there was already a long line of people waiting for their orders. I think they can hire a few more people to speed things up in the back kitchen. I ordered their roast pork belly with rice which was really good. Expect that traditional 5-spice flavor that's mainly used in Chinese roast pork. They give a generous amount too which is nice. I also enjoyed the ginger sauce it came with. I thought this paired better than the black sweet sauce they provide. Typically I like my pork belly thoroughly cooked but this is a different style and I still enjoyed it. It's worth $15! I want to come back to try their duck next!

After the food came I decided to try the watermelon lemonade and that was a solid decision. Not too sweet, really refreshing. For dessert we grabbed the Peach Cobbler out of the display case. It came in a little tin that it was made in, and it was slightly dry, but the flavor was there. Tasty, just needs some work. Came out to $70.25 total which honestly felt right for what we got.
