my 27th birthday was awesome, and my mother invited me here, to Punahele Tonnelier. for a saturday, it was busy, and had a small 5 minute wait i ordered their surf n turf, while my mom ordered the Loco Moco. on the side, some french toast. as beverages, some champagne to celebrate my life and some water to never dehydrate food was elite, and the whole experience here was one i would love to experience again. thx, mom! surf n turf (8.5/10) this plate was solid and strong, with potatoes and some steak bites as the main flavors. add some hot sauce to it plz loco moco (9/10) traditional hawaiian plate, with a base of rice, hamburger patty and fried eggs on top. my momma loved it, but wish it was larger champagne (10/10) no words babbyyyyy and thx, Punahele. you rep Hawaii greatly

Oooh wow! Definitely coming back to Oakley for this one!!! A refreshing breakfast that keeps you feeling full. The perfect ratio of balanced savory and sweet recommended is both a signature plate and French toast. The meat is heavy if you're not used to spam etc. Pairs well with their tropical drinks. Service is quick! BUT without the rush feeling. Servers are nice and friendly, wait time (you put your name on the list) and wait to get called, on a mid Sunday was less than 10 mins! Huge win! I'd definitely come back with the fair pricing with the portions you receive. (4 drinks, 4 plates around $100?) Yes, sign me up! It was SO delicious! Only con - please maintain your bathroom!

Food and service is phenomenal. A cute little restaurant that is very homey, and intimate. Portion sizes are well worth the price you are paying for. You have to try their mimosa flight where you get to choose your flavors. Only comment is that the tables felt sticky.

I've never been to Oakley, but a dog meetup brought me to the area! My companion, Dad, and I came to the area with my pup. My Dad recommended we try Bistro Punahele Tonnelier due to it being dog-friendly and offering Hawaiian fare. Since we had my puppy, we sat outside. I can't speak for the ambiance inside but outside was super casual and rustic. The furniture was a bit dirty outside (ants crawling), but the staff wiped it before we sat--we just had to monitor the ants. Service by staff was great. We were notified that there was only one server so things would be slow but our lovely server was phenomenal. They gushed over my puppy, provided water and snacks for her, and took care of us checking in regularly. The bistro serves typical American breakfast and lunch with a Hawaiian and French influence. When it comes to Hawaiian food on the mainland, I don't play around. Having lived there, I do have high expectations. For my meal, I had the House Signature Omelette, Smoked Salmon with Spinach and Onions. For my side, I had the potatoes. The omelet was generously packed with spinach, a filling portion, but lacking a bit of seasoning. The potatoes were superb--crispy and creamy. Companion had the Fried Portuguese Sausage and Spam omelet. I had a bite and thought it was okay--just meat and egg nothing else. Flavors weren't truly there. My Dad had the Aloha Tower which was a sight in itself--meat and carb forward galore. He said it was delicious. Though I never come to Oakley, I'm glad we had a pleasant meal. I say this restaurant is worth trying if you live in the area for the unique offerings, but not one I'd go back to especially for the Hawaiian food. The wooden bistro is right off Main St. with lots of parking out front.

5/5 experience, best bistro (and maybe restaurant) in Oakley! I had the Aloha Tower and my partner had the Stuffed French Toast. Absolutely delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. The service was impeccable, great staff and overall great ambiance. Will be coming back here again, loved it!

First time visiting for breakfast. Finally after all these years! I was super excited! Looks bigger on outside than actually inside. Tables are really close together and I personally didn't feel like I had my own personal space. Like when my neighboring table mate got up to leave her butt pretty much rode down the side of our table. Definitely could not walk straight out... even walking sideways was too close The bench seats along the wall are uncomfortable, I had to switch seats with hubby. The food was aiiight. I ordered the egg Benedict. It wasn't the one thats on the website menu. This one had the English muffins, sautéed spinach, poached eggs, caramelized onions, bacon and French hollandaise with smoked paprika. It was meh. Just meh. It looked messy when presented. The English muffins were soggy AF from the sautéed spinach. Then layered with 4 thick bacon slices then the poached eggs with hollandaise & a sprinkle of paprika. The 2 csmall tablespoon size dollops of caramelized onions were on my potatoes. Not on the Benedict at all. I could have gotten a better Benedict down the street. I was disappointed for sure, no Aloha there. Hubby ordered the Aloha Tower... he liked it. Aloha for him. Service was fast & friendly. Coffee was BLACK! They do offer honey to sweeten it up a bit. All in all, I'd go back to try one of their burgers.

So good!! I love coming here when they are open and the food is always good no matter what you get!! The owners are very sweet and chit chat with the table when they can!! only complaint is that they aren't open very much just the weekends in the morning.

Ok, so I found this place on a fluke. But I'm happy I did!! So I didn't know what to expect because I've never really eaten Hawaiian themed food. But upon arriving you had to wait outside and write you name on a list! It was kinda cold that day so this method sucked! But that being said once we got inside the overall service was great. I went with the Loco Moco fries, my daughter went with the chimichura steak minus any kind of sauce! And my wife got the same thing with all the sauce. Plus we tried the French Toast. All the food was really good. The Loco Moco was really good! I'm skeptical of eating gravy but I must say this meal was really good. The burger patty was really good. Overall I really enjoyed this restaurant and I will come again! I'm so sorry for the photos I remembered I needed to take them half way through!

Came here on a whim Saturday morning around brunch time and glad I did. We wrote our name down and waited maybe 15-20 minutes before being called for our table of two. We thought we'd have the option of sitting outside but instead we were brought directly inside and sat at the small table by the window; unfortunately our view to outside was a little blocked by the baby seats stacked outside lol but otherwise the natural lighting was beautiful at that time of day. The inside is much smaller than I expected but the ambience is so wonderful! It felt cozy and intimate inside and we absolutely loved all the decor. Our orders were promptly taken by our server, he had curly hair and a septum piercing, really nice dude. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and a mimosa and my bf ordered the tri tip sandwich and a beer. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and agreed on coming back. Wait time was reasonable, vibes were on, food and drink were delicious, and service was great. I can't wait to come back and try their other menu items - I was so excited when I saw they had spam on the menu lol. Definitely recommend coming here :)

!!! Amazing experience !!!! We went for breakfast last weekend it's a small place but amazing food & excellent service. Vibe is very cool.... We had to write our names on the waitlist it was not bad at all we hardly waited for 10 mins... parking is very limited but still there is public parking on the street. It's a very small downtown area. We loved all our dishes & enjoyed the half sampler mimosas. It was fun tasting various juices with our champagne. Will definitely be back for trying other dishes... we both are remembering those potatoes... OMG !!!! They were awesome!!!!! Prices are very reasonable with generous portions... we had plenty leftovers.

One of the best breakfast places that we have been to! The most delectable crispy potatoes ever and the eggs were poached to perfection. Along with the caramelized onions and fresh spinach and super tasty Portuguese sausages this Eggs Benedict was fit for a king , that too a Hawaiian King !! And the portion size was humongous ! I made 2 mini meals of the leftovers at home. The accompanying Mimosa sampler half carafe was also very fresh, bubbly and we loved the 4 choices of fresh juices served along side. We absolutely loved the Champagne served! Better Half ordered the Paniolo (Hawaiian Cowboy) Skillet breakfast - an absolute treat for eye as well as the mouth. Wonderfully scrambled eggs tossed with crispy potatoes and Portuguese Sausage, we swooned at every bite. Again humongous portion size, that she made 2 Mini meals of the leftovers! We also ordered the Kabuku style garlic prawns which we shared. Absolutely fresh prawn, wonderfully cooked in amazing Kabuku flavors and perfectly paired with rice and Asiago cheese roll! We were swooning at the very sight of this dish and will return just for this dish soon! Nicole our waitress was very attentive and courteous and service was smooth and without any long waits in between . As named , the ambiance and decor is a Perfect combination of Hawaii meets French bistro. We will returning very soon!

Yes to it all! I loved my experience here. Get here when they open. They are popular and have a waiting list for a reason. Mimosas are delicious. The service is friendly (shout out to our server who gave us edible glitter in our mimosas! Made our day). The food is instagrammable and fulfilling to every desire. Potatoes are crispy and soft. The decor and overall vibe is welcoming. Many ceiling fans to cool you down during hot summer visits. Clean bathroom. Single stall. Located just outside the restaurant. You'll see it on your stroll in. Street parking. This is the full package. Go try it.

Ask the Community - Bistro Punahele Tonnelier

Are pets allowed for outdoor dining?

Yes, they have an outdoor patio where you can bring your pooch.

Hi, can management pls reach out to me asap?

Is this place currently open? It sure looks like a mystery? The hours on the website are different from the hours posted on the door. And if you go to the storefront, it looks like it's been closed for quite a while So what's the deal?

They are only opened Friday-Sunday 10-2pm

    Is this place dog friendly?

If you get outdoor service on the patio otherwise no

Is it ever open? I've tried to go 3 separate times now and it's been closed every time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They are only open three days a week. Friday,, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday it was open on 10. Not sure on weekends think 10 or 11?

I saw a post from 4 days ago from the business owner that they were open Monday thru Friday 10am-2pm? Is this wrong. I've been here several times now and they've been closed? *okay, so it's Monday Thursday Friday then. Owner response said "Thru" Thx!

That is correct three days a week only at this time

Do they offer bottomless mimosas? If so what day?

I went in on a Monday and they informed me of the bottomless mimosas that day!

Do they serve breakfast & brunch all day?

Not that I know but I would call just in case. Make a reservation if you go. The place is tiny and when I went it was packed

Do they take large groups, would like to try this place for my birthday?

It's a really small place with most tables being 2-4 tops.

No scoop mac salad for the loco moco? Also how much for extra gravy all over and extra scoop rice?

No Mac salad with the loco moco. Not sure on the extra gravy. The rice is $2 as a side order

    Do you have haupia?

Yes they did last time I went

    Any Gluten Free options?

Yes there are several they said on the menu were gluten-free.

Can I order something to go, a la carte?

    Yes you can!

Do they do to go orders?

Yes I ordered to go once

    Is it kid appropriate?

Don't see why not, it's a very casual restaurant.

Is there anything vegetarian or vegan on the menu?

Yes, you can order vegetarian omelets and they have crepes and pancakes. See their menu at www.oakleybistro.com

As a huge fan of French cuisine, I'd been following RÊVE for years and decided to book a table for the graduation dinner. I made a reservation about three months in advance just to be safe, since the restaurant only has about eight indoor tables. The restaurant was tucked away in a nondescript strip mall, but upon entering through the side gate, I felt like I was stepping into a Parisian neighborhood bistro. Our friendly waitress walked us through the menu and seasonal specials and even pointed out the can't-miss dishes. Thank goodness we followed her advice - the frites were among the best I've ever tasted! We debated ordering another cone of frites but decided to pace ourselves because we also ordered the gougères, RÊVE salad, and escargot to share. Additionally, we received complimentary fresh baguette and butter. For my main dish, I decided to try the quenelle, which can be described as a soft dumpling made from seafood purée that resembles a velvety soufflé. Every bite had a rich seafood flavor that, even now, I can't stop thinking about. Even though we were quite full after dinner, we were tempted by the dessert menu and decided to split the chocolate mousse and French opera cake. Both desserts were exquisite - they were small portions but packed a lot of richness without being overly sweet. Our dinner was made extra special by the restaurant staff, who remembered that we were celebrating a graduation and signed a card for us. From the team going above and beyond to the excellent meal, this was one of the best meals I've had this year. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

So by the time that we got to Bouchon, you know we were... not acting right lolololl One of our friends in our group may have had a little bit too much, and may have needed some assistance to the bathroom within the first five minutes. One of the servers watched us stumble to the bathroom and she followed us to make sure we were OK. She stuck her head in and offered to get us some bags if possible, and that "Napa gets the best of us." She was such a nice lady and wish we had gotten her name. I thought she was gonna kick us out! When we got back from the bathroom, our friends had already ordered. We got the French onion soup, chicken poulette, steak frites, escargot, beef tartare, and salmon rillettes. All of these dishes are pretty standard French fare. A lot of of them had expected flavors and more average side. I did, however, really enjoyed the French onion soup, steak frites and salmon rilletes. The French onion soup was warm and comforting, and amazing during our drunk stupor LOL. Gooey and cheesy, the bread on top was toasty and crisp. The steak frites, ordered medium rare, was very tender and delicious -- cooked perfectly with great flavors. I've never had salmon rilletes and really enjoyed the different herbs and toppings. The chicken poulette was quite a letdown. It looked really good, but it was a little plain to me. This was supposed to be a little before dinner meal, but honestly, this was filling for all six of us. Thank you Bouchon for a wonderful meal Also props for accommodating us, even though we came in 10-15 minutes before dinner service! We appreciate it!

But once I stepped in you can't help but feel the classic white tablecloth dining experience was coming. The maître d', dressed in a white tux, welcomed us and escorted us past a polished wood bar area, into our dining room. Our server, Connor was friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the menu. We began with the Encrusted Baked Brie w/ a Peach jam. Rich and creamy cheese baked in. Puff pastry. And the jam sweetness paired so well. Along with that we shared the Roasted Beet and Hearts of Palm Salad and the Onion soup which were both delicious. For our entrees I had the Halibut topped with lump crab and lobster sauce. I don't usually like breaded fish and was somewhat surprised when it came that way, but I will say it was lightly breaded and not greasy at all so I thoroughly enjoyed it. My boyfriend ordered the Classic Beef Wellington which was tender and tasty but wished it had a sauce with it. We finished the evening with the Creme Brûlée, which came with a mango sorbet. Creamy with a nice Brulé crust, and the mango sorbet cut perfectly through the richness. It was definitely a nice romantic dinner and I would love to go back and try some of their other dishes. A great place for a special occasion.

Last Valentine we wanted to try this restaurant but we couldn't get the reservation in time so this…read moreyear on my wife birthday we got the reservation even it's on Saturday. The restaurant is in a place by itself, plenty of parking spaces for its capacity. It's a very nice restaurant, dated but very simple and classic. The service was extremely attentive and pleasant. The prices are quite reasonable for a French restaurant. We started with Butterfly Mai Tai and Tanqueray and tonic. My wife loved the Mai Tai and my Gin was just right. We always like Escargot and Calamari so we ordered these for appetizers. The Escargot was flavorful and tender, the best we've had so far at any restaurants. The sauce was so good that we dipped the excellent sourdough bread in it to enjoy. We were thinking we wouldn't have room for the main course LOL. The Calamari is quite delicious and tender with the sauce on its own. The portion is not big but enough for both of us. I've never had Chicken Cordon Bleu so my wife ordered this one and I tried the sea bass in miso flavor. The Chicken was a little rich for my wife so we traded our dishes. The chicken sauce is creamy with the flavor of white wine which is every flavorful, the chicken stuffed with crab meat quite tender and tasty. The sea bass for me is a little light on the miso sauce, not as flavorful as I would like but my wife liked it so that's all it mattered. We had no room for dessert, but the restaurant brought out a birthday plate with some ice cream and chocolate mouse that's very nice. My wife was thinking of taking our kids here for dinner when my daughter comes back from NY for the holidays, she loves French Duck Breast in wine sauce, not sure what my son would have but he did eat our chicken cordon bleu left over the next day and he liked it. I forgot about the French Onion Soup which will definitely try next time we're here. It was a nice dinner and especially Charlie came to our table to say hi and thank us for the business. My wife thought it was a nice touch.

Although people post pictures of the food-- the menu is constantly rotating and changing on a day-to-day basis and a seasonal basis so the food you see might not always be the same menu. I really like that because it makes it a consistent date spot because the food is constantly changing and it's a new experience every time. The food itself was amazing because everything's handmade and farm-to-table. Everything is seasoned so nicely, presented, with super fresh quality ingredients. You can tell the kitchen staff are highly trained and have exquisite taste buds. Would recommend for anyone looking for a new date spot, cocktail bar, or special restaurant for a special occasion!

Our server was Michael, and he has been there for quite some time. We had excellent service by him. We ordered a number of items. Our perennial favorites were the salade lyonnaise (because who doesn't love bacon and egg over greens) and their tomato soup over puff pastry. We also tried this time around their mussels (served over a big pot with broth), their Pike dumplings and a Chanterelle mushroom seasonal special. The restaurant was crowded. We can still hear each other but it's definitely not a quiet lunch spot. It's a nice change if you normally like to eat at Bouchon and want to try something slightly different.

The staff were super nice and gave us a few recommendations, but we ended up going with the Grilled CAB Hanger Steak and the Soupe à l'Oignon. The steak was incredibly tender and juicy, with a beautiful seared outside. The beef had that deep, rich flavor and the roasted garlic added a little sweetness. But the bone marrow butter was something else. It basically melted right into the steak, adding this buttery, savory flavor that made the meat even more indulgent. But for me, the real star was the Soupe à l'Oignon. This might honestly be the best French onion soup I've ever had, even better than some I've had in Paris. The broth was deep, rich, and full of onion flavor, while the onions themselves were incredibly soft and almost melted into the soup. Then came the cheese. That first pull when you lift the spoon was insane. Creamy, salty, and slightly toasted, it mixed with the hot broth and sweet onions perfectly. Every spoonful had layers of flavor. Rich broth, sweet caramelized onions, melted cheese, and that toasted bread underneath. It was comforting, hearty, and exactly what I wanted from a French onion soup. Bistro Jeanty gave me a little taste of Paris all over again.
