I had the soft shell crab, which was good, but a bit expensive for something deep fried. The loaded baked potato was wonderful, and the service was very friendly and attentive. Our server even went so far as to go to another restaurant to find me take out utensils. His dedication to our enjoyment was wonderful. Wine, beer, and a full bar. Only doesn't receive a 5 star review because I thought the prices didn't correlate with entrees being served with condiments in plastic containers. Would certainly return to try a steak!

(So much so that now I'm thinking of going back for some RIGHT NOW!) Here's something that was weird: They have a few dozen different chicken menu options; dinners, platters, ala carte, etc... One menu offered "all-white" as an option. I asked the clerk if a two-piece was a wing and a breast, or what. She answered, "We only do all-white on Sundays because that's when we cook the breasts." Uh, ok... wait... what? I mentioned that the sign on the door (two signs, actually) said they are closed on Sundays. She replied that they were, in fact, open seven days a week. So I can't promise you that you can get white-meat fried chicken; I can't promise you can get it on Sunday. But I can promise you will love it because it's REALLY good!

Price seemed reasonable when I went, and definitely less expensive than buying it at a grocery store. If you plan on taking the shrimp back to Houston (6 hour drive), no worries. They sell Styrofoam ice chests for $3.50 and they will pack it with ice at no extra cost. My shrimp made it back just fine and still had plenty of ice in it left over. Be cautious though because sometimes the Styrofoam leaks. Make sure you have a solid container or bag underneath the ice chest before trekking the long journey back. You don't want your trunk to smell like rotten shrimp.

We had no idea how right we were. The island was almost empty and the only people we encountered were state troopers sitting on the side waiting for some speeders. Further down into the island we had almost given up on the idea to have a "real" shrimp meal and turned around. Since it was time for a "natural" break we stopped at several places but they were all closed - except for one. When we drove on the parking lot a lady came out waving at us and asking us to come in. It was in fact the ONLY place that was opened selling beverages on Christmas Day. However, food was provided for free by the residents that came together to celebrate Christmas and they invited us to join them for their Christmas meal. We had ham and turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing among many other things. What a great experience. Everyone was so friendly and kind that even the 90 minute trip to and from N'awlins was worth every minute. Thank you!
