    Lamb over Rice

This spot on Thayer has been revolving with many different stores in the past years. I think that Yums Halal has been my favorite addition, and hopefully it'll stay here for a while! The portion sizes were good, and the lamb was cooked perfectly! I'll definitely be back.

So glad this place opened! I don't have to wait to go to NYC to get my chicken over rice fix. Plus, they have one of my favorite South Indian dishes - dosas! It's weird to see Middle Eastern and South Indian dishes on the same menu, but I'm not complaining. I got the chicken over rice. The rice was flavorful, and the dish was tasty. There's a good number of toppings along with the white and spicy sauce. I will definitely be back! The prices are reasonable.

I visited Yum's for a late night meal. Quick, delicious, and convenient. I grabbed the lamb over rice platter and customized it with fresh ingredients(lettuce, cucumber, red onion, etc). The rice and lamb were seasoned well. I added the white sauce and hot sauce and it definitely added a kick. I also tried their "Butterscotch Pastry" - basically a slice of butterscotch cake, and it was soooo good. Definitely worth trying. Prices were pretty reasonable for the amount you receive for your platter. Great to try for a post-gym workout meal.

    Lamb Gyro

This is a real lamb gyro not that half beef half pork very good and great for late night. Aakash made a good gyro and offered us great service and Divya did an excellent job with her service to my cousin. Very comfortable and a great view of Thayer street and I will be back for their gyro and next time I will try something else.

The food was really really great. Perfect balance of spices in the meat & the tzatziki absolutely pulled this dish into the next level. I will 100% be coming back to try out their gyro selection next time as well! Linga took our orders & was so incredibly nice. He talked to us about the food and the restaurant and made the experience so great. I will be back very soon :)

I have driven by this place many times and have always been curious to try it. I find that this building is always changing businesses so I knew I had to try it before it potentially goes away and I am glad I did. I was a bit overwhelmed by the menu but it helped that I saw someone before me get a gyro which in turn, dictated what I would get. I ordered a lamb gyro with most of the toppings they offer and the white sauce followed by one line of red sauce. I thought the hot sauce would be too hot but I think I could have tolerated 2-3 more lines. They were a bit too generous with the white sauce so next time, I will ask for less. Not because it is not good, but because I wanted more of the other flavors of the toppings and meat to pop. The meat was excellent; it's the typical gyro meat--tender and flavorful--but rather than shaved, it's in cubes. They do heat up the gyro wrap which makes it into a warm cover for everything else. Make sure to bring about 10 napkins with you because you will need them. I tried one of their pastries and very much enjoyed the top frosting part but was not a big fan of the cake part. Overall I would say this place is appropriately named "Yums" as it is yummy.

We started with the lamb kavap and shared the ginormous chicken stew, and finished off with the honey cake. Every this was so flavorful. The lamb is served on skewers with 23 different spices. Definitely tasted cumin, paprika, peppercorns, garlic, and so many other spices! The chicken stew was so delicious. Be warned that it's big and spicy! Definitely a kick of peppercorns. I believe it's a full smashed whole chicken so each bite has bits of bones. But the chicken is stewed in a rich, spicy broth. The stew has hand made noodles, potatoes, and peppers. We finished off with honey cake which helped cooled down the spices we just ate. Lovely slice of cake with a scoop of coffee ice cream. This place gets busy but they have a digital waitlist. We checked in with the host on the first floor, but she escorted us to the second floor to be seated. I always liked that this restaurant seems to be a small house converted into a restaurant since it literally makes me feel at [someone's] home. We were given QR codes to scan for the menu; not my favorite. I overheard another table ask for paper menus, so it appears there is that option. For a starter, we ordered handmade lamb dumplings and for entrees, original meefen and lamb on dry land with a side of white rice. It all ended up coming out around the same time and the tables are a little small so it felt like an overwhelming amount of food, but it was actually the perfect amount for two people. The lamb dumplings were flavorful, albeit, the wrappers were a tad too soft. The original meefen was very tasty, especially the minced meat. However, the uden noodles don't do a great job of absorbing sauces, so it felt like a lot of the oils and flavor were left behind. The lamb on dry land was good, but it was difficult to eat especially two people. We didn't realize it would be meat on a stick, similar to a turkey leg but less meaty. We ended up eating the easy parts, but took the bone home to finish out of the public eye. The crispy potatoes on top were my friend's favorite. The total was about $50 which was fair. Our waiter and other staff members did an excellent job of getting us all we needed and clearing plates as we finished. Their official website is one of the coolest I have seen since it includes audio and images, but I wish it had a description of what each item is, just like their in restaurant menu QR code.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet!…read more I used to live right up the street so I went here all the time- my favorite thing being the chicken shawarma that came with delicious fries, pickles, and garlic sauce. I also love the fattoush salad- so flavorful! All of the meats (kaza maza mix), rice, hummus, mutabal, etc. were absolutely fantastic...this place was perfect for a feast. The interior is nice and cozy but I always got takeout- pro tip: order ahead and give ample time for your order. Parking is limited as well, but service was always friendly- highly recommend if you are in the area...or even if you are not!

I ordered a falafel platter and got a hummus platter. Okay, fine. I'll just eat that. They forgot literally every single thing my daughter had ordered--from the drink to the meal--essentially not even realizing she was there. Weird at best. And then the waitress tried to persuade me to pay her in cash. There was a screaming baby around the corner, surrounded by people smoking hookahs. The owner kept begging me to come join them, but it just didn't feel right at the time. He really, really wanted me to smoke. And I'm not sure why. I liked the Whitney Houston "I'm Your Baby Tonight" poster by the handwashing station. And the beef shawarma was okay, I guess.
