The owner is incredibly kind, and the staff is always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The fish was outstanding, and the appetizers were just as impressive. The hummus tasted very authentic, and I loved the variety of other appetizers they offer. The tabouli was delicious as well, though it's a bit different from a traditional tabouli salad. They tried to serve my 15-year-old son a huge glass of Corona rimmed with about three ounces of salt, and then insisted that was what he had ordered. Okay, fine. No big deal. I ordered a falafel platter and got a hummus platter. Okay, fine. I'll just eat that. They forgot literally every single thing my daughter had ordered--from the drink to the meal--essentially not even realizing she was there. Weird at best. And then the waitress tried to persuade me to pay her in cash. There was a screaming baby around the corner, surrounded by people smoking hookahs. The owner kept begging me to come join them, but it just didn't feel right at the time. He really, really wanted me to smoke. And I'm not sure why. This is a good spot for Syrian food in Rhode Island. The interior and ambiance feel very Middle Eastern. I picked up the chicken shawarma for lunch. It was a bit on the pricey side but the portion size was generous. I found it interesting that the shawarma was cut into smaller pieces. The garlic sauce was excellent and paired really well with the fries and pickled vegetables. The chicken itself was very flavorful and delicious. They also offer live music at times, which adds to the experience. Overall, this is a solid place to check out if you are in the neighborhood. read more

I used to live right up the street so I went here all the time- my favorite thing being the chicken shawarma that came with delicious fries, pickles, and garlic sauce. I also love the fattoush salad- so flavorful! All of the meats (kaza maza mix), rice, hummus, mutabal, etc. were absolutely fantastic...this place was perfect for a feast. If you love middle eastern food, this is as close as it gets to authentic in the US. It's Syrian cuisine. The chef is wonderful! It's a causal place nested far northwest from providence in a residential area. They have hookah section. Always we sit in the non smoking areas. The food is the star here. We tried the entire menu over the years. And nothing disappoints. They invented mama ghanouj here, I guess. It's made with beets and chickpeas; absolutely delicious. My Lebanese friend took me here and this place is the real deal. You could tell by everyone coming in and out. The hummus especially the beet is awesome, Have had hummus everywhere from Egypt to Morocco to Jordan and places in the Mediterranean and the food here brought me back to these places. ....same goes for the Kibbeh, do not miss out on this here....it really was the best I have ever had. Came here based on some recommendations from some acquaint Lamb kabob which was okay. It comes with rice, pilaf yogurt. Some vegetables like cucumber, olives and roasted tomato I thought the meat itself was okay. Little on the chewy side and there is plenty of fat. But overall it was cooked well. Didn't have a ton of flavor. The rice was good. I did like the pita. Tap water. Where is it? Oh that's right they don't offer it. They do offer to sell you water because they don't have good tap water. If that's the case, then they really should give you the bottled water as part of a courtesy. I thought the service was okay. Nothing really stands out. They have some interesting decor. We were the only diners at first when we came in. They do a lot of takeout service Parking is in the front of the building. Did not use the bathroom but the ambiance was interesting as they have some interesting decor. Overall, if I was in the area I would come back. This place is absolutely, positively delicious and by far the best Middle Eastern Restaurant I've been to in New England. The only time I've had anything comparable is when I was in the Middle East. I ordered the Kaza Maza Mix, which is grilled steak, chicken, and I believe it's Kofta with rice and grilled veggies. The meat was very juicy, lightly seasoned and had a chargrilled flavor. The quality of the meat itself tasted like it was top shelf. I ordered takeout, and the employee who I spoke to in front of the restaurant was very friendly and efficient with my payment as well as retrieving my order from the kitchen. The food here is really fantastic! I've only gotten takeout and I would recommend calling ahead since it can take quite a while. My go-to's are the chicken shawarma sandwich that comes with fries, the fattoush salad and the kaza maza mixed grill (with either a side of hummus or mutabal). Very solid food and flavors that I find myself craving- especially the tangy and vibrant citrus and mint flavors of the fattoush salad...AND that garlic sauce and pickled veggies that come with the shawarma are to die for! read more

As a disclaimer, I am not middle eastern so I can't speak to the authenticity of the food but what I will say is that the flavors are all amazing. But before I get to the food, I'll start with the service and ambiance. The staff are all very friendly, and helpful in helping make decisions. The inside is pretty with tasteful decorations. I did like that they separate the parties smoking hookah from the parties not smoking hookah as a compromise to all guests. I also enjoyed the music they were playing. As an appetizer, they brought out pita bread with sample sizes (about 4-5 tablespoons of each) of baba ghanouj, hummus, and tuom. I have never had baba ghanouj, but I really enjoyed it. The pomegranate seeds on top really helped with contrasting sweet and savory. Before you get deterred from trying it by knowing it's made from eggplant, don't worry, you can't even tell. The hummus was also very good and tasted fresh. My favorite though was the tuom. If you love garlic, you're going to love this cause it has a strong garlic taste, while being creamy. I initially thought it was made with yogurt but it is not. The little crispy chips that came with these were perfect for dipping and added its own texture and flavor. For entrees, we had the chicken shawarma and Kaza maza mix. The shawarma itself was very simple, as it was marinated chicken tucked inside a crispy pita wrap. But despite being simple, it packed a lot of flavor, especially after adding some tuom to it and their shatta (red chili sauce), while eating some of the sides it came with. It was supposed to come with fries but we opted for rice instead. The chicken is very tender and the pita has a crunch with every bite. The Kaza maza mix comes with lamb, beef and chicken. Again, the chicken was excellent--perfectly sized nuggets with great flavor. The beef was excellent. I'm used to kofta being dry or unflavored but this one was the opposite. The lamb was also great. It was on a skewer with some onions, and very tender. The rice was amazing. It has some veggies, with all the right spices. Nothing we had was spicy so don't worry about that if you're not into spicy food. They did have tea near the smoothie bar which helped me digest the food. Someone also came around offering coffee which was very generous. It was only a little bit but it had a unique taste. This restaurant is in a random location but it's always the hole in the walls that have the best food. There is some parking but it's shared among different businesses on the strip so it's a bit different to find depending on the time of day and day of the week. Luckily there is street parking not too far. I would definitely come back and I'm glad I was able to cross this off my food bucket list. read more

Tried this authentic middle eastern resturant for lunch and it was a treat. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant really brought you to a restaurant in the Middle East. Our server was really kind and attentive. The food itself was quite good. We ordered the Mama Ghannouj, Hummus, Za'atar Pie, and Falafel plate. The ghannouj and hummus were creamy and the olive oil on the ghannouj and hummus was so fresh and flavorful. The za'atar pie was warm and crispy with so much flavor. The falafel plate was okay. To start this is the fourth time we have been to this hidden jewel. from the exterior you could drive by without realizing what fabulous gastronomy of middle eastern delights await. Each visit has been made incredible. Cozy interior and a the friendliness of the staff is your introduction to the beginning of a feast for those who love and grew up with the food that is presented. The Kaza Mazda has Family that was ordered starts with the traditional appetizers (Mezza) which stimulates your palate with bursts of flavors, and is a meal in itself. Then the main course f lamb, beef kabobs are tender and juicy, not overcooked, with the sides of the traditional salads was more than enough for our party of 5, but we did add the grilled eggplant which was incredible and topped it off with Kibbe was about as close to what mom made as we ever had. We were looking for healthy spots near us and wanted to try something new. Of course I yelped to see what I haven't tried yet and this one caught my eye. We did take out and the staff was nice. There's also some parking space outside as well. The restaurant is pretty cute. But let's talk about the food. We ordered a falafel wrap and my fiancé ordered a Kaza mixed platter and it was so good!!! His dish was a bit better than mine because he had a mix of everything. Kaza Maza opened less than a year ago and specializes in Syrian food, located in a quiet area away from the crowd. When I arrived workers were rearranging furniture, so it seems as though they're still making adjustments. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see all the GORGEOUS details of the interior design, from the ornate beaded chandelier made in Syria to the special ordered tiles to the intricate wall art and tapestries. Very romantic! The food: 1. I ordered the Mixed Grilled Plate, which comes with chicken kabobs and kofta with pita bread, grilled onions, one tandoori flat bread (similar to a pita bread but cooked in a tandoori oven, hard to find/not readily available in Indian grocery stores), and some parsley garnish on the side. The beef kofta was okay, but I really loved the chicken kabobs, which were well cooked and perfectly seasoned. Definitely the best I've had in New England so far! (Don't forget the garlic sauce!!). I'll ask if they have rice available next time. 2. The Chicken Shawarma Wrap was delicious! They were cut into bite sized pieces for dipping in the garlic sauce. Served with pickles and fries. 3. Note: If you want "traditional" baba ghanoush the way other Middle Eastern restaurants make it, you must specify "Mutabbal". Otherwise, Syrian baba ghanoush is made differently. (My Lebanese-Syrian husband pointed this out to me). That said, their Mutabbal was excellent! 4. Hubby loved their Muhammara roasted pepper dip. 5. Hummus was okay. Conclusion: Though take-out is available, I highly recommend dining in. This place is perfect for families and date nights! Food is excellent! There's a hookah lounge in the bag. I came for my 2nd visit with my nephew. However the month of April is Ramadan - so Muslims are fasting. So come here before sundown before the dinner crazy rush. We had to leave because it was so busy but def came back the next day before the 7:30 rush. We ordered the hummus platter which is a great tasting of freshly made hummus. Delicious, need time to Rebuild This place is not fully setup yet. The owner is renovating while still cooking some amazing grub in the back kitchen. I guess it is considered Mediterranean but there are aspects from multiple cultures in preparation. We've been twice, the chicken kabob platter is enough food for two. Delicious sauces and dips like toum (garlic sauce), wonderfully smoked baba ghanoush, and their hummus is delicious but a little different. The hummus with meat is a delicious dish too. Our favorite item is the Fattoush, a mixed veg and herb salad with fried pieces of pita in it. So fresh and so delicious. So, right now this place looks like a convenient store but they do have a small dining room if you go in. The service is a bit slow because there aren't many systems in place. I haven't experienced a lot of items on the menu. However, the staff aim to please. I have gone twice now, and both times, I ÷ the chicken shawarma plate. I have not been disappointed either time. I would say probably one of the best tasting around. This time, I ordered a strawberry smoothie, which honestly was a quite expensive strawberry sundae because that is what it tasted like. It was very good and rather large, though. We ordered a side of wings. There was nothing wrong with the wings, but we were really hoping for a more authentic flavor of wings when we ordered not just American wing dings. As I have now had the opportunity to try different items, I would personally stick to my preferred shawarma plate. Cannot go wrong there. Our food was amazing. Sadly, the service was terrible. We waited almost an hour for our food. The dishes came to us one at a time. My husband got his first, so he waited for us to start eating. It was another 5 minutes for the second plate and another 15 minutes to get my plate. My husband's food was cold by the time we all started eating. After we finished, we waited close to an hour for our waiter to come to us. I tried waving people down for help, but no one ever made eye contact. I finally went to the counter to ask for boxes, and they had me pay there. They all had friendly smiles. They seemed like wonderful people but completely unattended. I will definitely get takeout.
