The perfect girls night or date night spot! I've been twice and the vibe of this place is amazing! It's dimly lit, such beautiful decor and on Saturday a DJ comes late night. Service is top notch and they break down the menu perfectly. The waiter was amazing and let us try some wines and sake before we ordered and gave the best recommendations on what to get. Both times I've loved the hand rolls and the sushi rolls were great! Prices can be a bit steep here but I think it's worth it for a special occasion or treat yourself kind to night. Would recommend!

Had the best service by Ben (I believe that's his name with the blonde hair) who was so adorable and lovely. Sushi was so delicious here and I loved the oysters here too! Kind of hard to find but it was such a great experience. Loved how every dish came with a flower, such a nice touch. Would definitely come back when I'm in town again.

I went to this place on a Saturday for a night out with friends. It was a fun place to get dressed up. The vibe was great. It's a place with brick walls everywhere and a great vibe. The moment we entered, we felt welcome and the waiter provided some wonderful suggestions for us. We shared a lot of different sushi and each had our favorite. We shared the salmon lovers roll, crunchy salsa roll, garlic butter scallops, edamame and tuna appetizer. My favorite is definitely the garlic butter scallops - so unique and good, If you love sushi, definitely come here for some great food and a wonderful dinner out.

Save this place for a quiet dinner for two... not a celebration. We had a party of 10 for a birthday with a 7:30 reservation. Before we were even seated, staff tried to seat me to the wrong table with a group I did not know. They apologized and offered me a drink at the bar (but turns out it wasn't on the house). The birthday guest had arranged custom menus and noted the group's food allergies with the restaurant weeks ahead of time. Our waiter had no idea any of that existed. After 20 minutes waiting for drinks and another stretch sorting out the menu situation, we were starving by the time food started arriving: vegans first at 9:10, the rest of us at 9:30. Two hours after sitting down. We left at 11 PM and honestly I was still hungry, the five course prix fixe menu was not very filling. The food was very good, as was the quality, and the presentation was lovely. But the service was a mess from start to finish... no coordination, no follow-through, very little accountability. I've had much better experiences here with smaller groups. For a large party or a special occasion, look elsewhere.

This is probably the most phenomenal sushi experience that I've ever had. It'll likely be hard to top this place realistically. I've been back since I initially began this review and, yes, it's still top tier. Enjoy the photos and know that flavor and experience are on another level. There's also some pretty great bartenders here. Enjoy.

5 stars for everything. Quality, ambiance, service, presentation and overall experience and execution. I'll lead by saying it was on the pricier end for the chefs pics and signature dishes but the rolls and smaller dishes are reasonably priced. The monster quad (and I do hope I recall that as the name of the bowl pictured correctly) and the creamy scallop roll were absolutely delicious and prob my faves. It's hard to pick a favorite in general as nothing fell short of expectations and I would 100% return because the options seem endless. Drinks were also well made and service was quick and knowledgeable about any questions on the large menu!

I have been a huge fan of the Yume restaurant for years now. Kyojin is all about great vibes, decor and ambience. There is a DJ playing on the weekends and the food here is next level. I stopped by recently with some family. We ordered everything from the chirashi bowl, the Monster quad, toro tartare, lemon shooters, and the a5 Wagyu bowl. Some of our favorite rolls include the a5 Wagyu, scallop sunlight, and the Yume roll. All of the fish was fresh and delicious. Service here is top notch. We made reservations way in advance. Our server and the bartenders were attentive. Dining here comes at a premium cost. If you want a more private quiet dining spot this may not be it. I'll definitely be back to try their seasonal specials and hopefully catch one of their tuna events.

Easily the best upscale sushi I've had in the states. It was fresh and the flavors were layered. Kyojin knows how to do FANCY. 5 stars because sushi was all a hit. The pasta dish was not. Service was a little stiff but the quality of the food made up for it. The location is right in the heart of all things popular--Georgetown. It's a little hard to find the entrance because it's tucked away in an alley, but the inside of the restaurant feels like stepping into a zen oasis.

What you are paying for is for the vibes and spot being in Georgetown. Kyojin has a cool atmosphere and a solid concept, but the food didn't fully live up to expectations for me. Everything was decent, yet nothing really stood out, especially compared to other sushi spots. I normally really love sushi but I feel like some of the food choices didn't make sense or wasn't fully fleshed. It's an okay option if you're nearby, but not somewhere I'd specifically seek out for an exceptional meal, especially for the price. The staff is friendly and tried their best to make recommendations. Best Bite: - scallop roll - the winner ( a single piece of sushi that comes with three slices of bluefin tuna. Added uni)

We had an incredible experience at Kyojin! I brought my family members from out of town and they were so impressed from the start with the atmosphere. Jessica did a wonderful job of explaining the menu and making suggestions based on our individual tastes (and we had a lot of particular tastes at our table). She was also incredibly attentive and quick to check in on us throughout the meal despite having a busy section. Everything she suggested we absolutely loved. I don't think they can do any wrong here. The inventiveness and quality of the sushi is unmatched. Definitely the best sushi spot in the city.

I absolutely love Kyojin. If you want good food, good drinks and good vibes head here immediately. Kyojin's space is beautiful, modern and upscale. You walk into what feels like a dimly lit lair that opens up into a vibrant bar area along with different rooms that have plenty of seating for dining. Every room has a unique vibe that adds to the overall ambiance of the space. There's also a room where you can watch your food being prepared. It's a perfect place for a date night, family night or hanging out with friends. As upscale as it may seem, it's still a pretty casual place so all are welcome! The drinks are strong, creative and delightful and the sushi is top notch. I enjoyed everything. Our server was very helpful and friendly and did a great job with helping us navigate the menu. The only annoying thing is trying to get there. It's located on a narrow one way cobble stone road behind one of the main roads in Georgetown so parking can be tough and if you ride share your driver may have some trouble navigating. Other then figuring out travel, it's a great time. Kyojin is great and it's on my go-to list for great sushi, drinks and cool vibes. I will definitely be back!

The sushi was really fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was uptempo and loud, we were seated right next to a DJ. We traveled in the day we visited and needed to find something open late night so we weren't as dressed up or prepared for the lively environment. It's a super cute spot for a girls night or date night (it's loud though, so don't expect to converse much) My rolls: Scallop Sunlight Roll - I was intrigued by the kiwi on top so wanted to give this a try. I enjoyed it!! The spicy tuna was fresh and had a decent amount of spice to it. Crazy Monkey Roll - the lavender smoked salmon was amazing. Highly recommend. It's pricey, but high quality sushi, all was well except for the waitress mixed up the roll my friend ordered and there was like a $40 difference between the roll she wanted and was was ordered. No one likes a surprise on their bill, but otherwise everything was good.

I was impressed and by the experience and would definitely come back for a Japanese meal that did not focus solely on ramen or sushi. The ambiance is well done, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and able to answer any of our questions. To share, we got the spicy salmon roll, Karaage appetizer, and eggplant cheese appetizer. The spicy tuna roll was the most lackluster of the dishes, but the fish was fresh and the portion was decent for $12. The karaage appetizer was excellent. The chicken was moist and the coating was crunchy and super hot. The eggplant cheese was a surprise highlight of the meal. Pieces of eggplant in a melted cheese bowl made of eggplant was a simple combination. That was a very pleasant mix of textures. The pork Katsu was a highlight of the meal. Unfortunately forgot to take a picture, but the coding was super crispy and the portion size was pretty solid. The Unagidon or grilled eel bowl was also very well made and tasted great with the pickled ginger and seasoning on the side. The set came with miso soup which was very nice as well. My companions also got drinks which they said were well priced and good quality. Our overall meal cost somewhere in the range of $160 before tip which was reasonable given all of the items that we got. I look forward to my next visit!

A/C was nice and cool which I appreciated but found the place to be too loud for me once it filled out with more people. Service is courteous. I ordered the tomato salad and two sushi rolls. Yes I committed the sin of ordering just sushi at a kaiseki restaurant, gasp! So I guess I did this to myself since I found the food to be just ok. The spicy tuna roll was just not happening since all they did was drizzle hot sauce over the roll. I've been noticing this more at places, can we just say tuna roll with spicy dipping sauce instead? It's a bit misleading... but I guess I'll have to make sure to ask everywhere whenever I order spicy tuna. I am a believer in that if you're eating at a good restaurant and you ordered their less popular menu item that it should still be good but in this case, Ko didn't deliver. Anyways, I didn't have much of an appetite because of the hot weather so take this review with a grain of salt but I don't plan on returning unless someone can convince me otherwise and if I do, I'm not ordering sushi here.

The layout is interesting -- there's an upstairs when you walk in, but the sushi bar and a good bit of seating are downstairs. The menu is pretty straightforward with a mix of hand rolls, appetizers, specialty rolls, nigiri/sashimi, and traditional rolls. They also have a few solid combo deals, though I usually prefer trying a variety of items instead. Service was quick, which is always appreciated at a sushi spot. We ordered a few specialty rolls, two traditional rolls, and a couple orders of sashimi, all served together on one platter. The rolls were a great size -- filling without being overly large. The sashimi was fresh, and the traditional rolls really balanced out the meal nicely. The flounder and tuna sashimi were both excellent, and the California roll made with real crab was simple, fresh, and really satisfying. The total came out somewhere in the $70 range, so after tip and splitting it between two people, it was about $40 each to try multiple rolls and sashimi. Definitely fair pricing for the quality and amount of food. This spot had been on my list for a while, so I'm glad I finally made it over. I'd recommend checking out the menu beforehand so you can go in with a game plan and try the items that stand out most to you.

Some of the rolls wouldn't come off because the wrapping had a lot of moisture so I ended up just eating it deconstructed. I prefer how Kazu Nori gives you each roll one at a time to prevent this. Overall great hand rolls but it's super messy so I'd give it a 3.8/5.

We had: Koika No Karaage - their version of calamari - 10/10 - lightly fried with the most amazing texture and paired with a yuzu mayo. For the price I wish the serving size was larger but that's my only gripe. Kani - 10/10 - snow crab with spicy mayo - 2 came with the order and they were amazing. The Japanese crest was the perfect contrast to softness of the snow crab. It was also seasoned well. Hotate Toryufu - 10/10 - the scallops melted in your mouth. Amazing. No notes. We were excited to use this as an opportunity to learn more by watching and interacting with the cooks, but that did not occur. Without guidance, we ordered hamachi, salmon, and kampachi sashimi. The portions were generous - 5 slices of each. The salmon was buttery and the kampachi fantastic - rich and interesting flavor. The hamachi was not liked - it was streaked with some sinewy type substance that didn't help the otherwise unflavorful fish. The soba noodles came with a rich, smoky/strong fish-flavored broth that was interesting. Unfortunately, there is no gluten-free option for the broth. The yakatori skewers (only ordered because they were the only gluten-free skewers) were nothing interesting. The food at Sakaki is full of flavor and the prices are reasonable for the amount. I think, after being twice, that the AYCE is not as worth it for me personally because I'm not a big eater, but it's totally worth it if you want a lot of variety and you have a good appetite. I really liked the rolls in particular. The service was excellent- it was a nice balance of coming over once in a while to ask how we were doing without coming over too much. Fyi- for the AYCE menu, note that once you put in an order for a round, you can't order for another 10 min so be sure to order enough at a time. I tried as much of the menu as I could and the rolls and nigiris were definitely the highlight. I wouldn't recommend the crab korokke (too liquidy, and no crab that I could taste) or the karagge - save space for other items! The AYCE is 90mins and you can order every 10 minutes from a tablet. Service was FAST, they definitely weren't playing games. The restaurant itself is also super spacious and well decorated.
