I have not been to Yu's in probably 8 years, things have changed. The service is meh. It's friendly, it's jus not quick or full service. The ambiance is nothing special, I feel like they really want you to take your food to go. The food was really good. The wontons with chili sauce was very tasty, I wish they would have come out hot (oven hot not pepper hot). Their entrees portions are enough for two. The Chongqing Spicy chicken was so damn good! It made my tongue a little numb but did not bother my stomach at all. Perfect amount of heat. I'll be back for sure. read more

I ordered the "American Food Combination Special" it comes with 1 entree, white rice or fried rice or lo mein, 1 egg roll or 2 cheese wontons. I'm impressed with the amount of food they serve for the low price of $12 also the food taste really fresh. I highly recommend this place for first timers or people just looking for quality Chinese food. This is fast food style restaurant. We had BBQ chicken, cashew chicken, orange chicken, pineapple beef, egg roll, spring roll, noodle and fried rice. All food I had was too salty to me, but 2entrees+1side+drink $6.95 is not bad for the food I got. I came here twice after I wrote the review above. Their food taste is better now, not salty anymore!! We had a large takeout order for 8 of us, ranging from the set meals to separate dishes. We ordered small and large sizes. I was expecting the large to be larger than a typical Chinese restaurant but they were the standard size. Needless to say the small were tiny, very disappointing based on the price. The food was below average, I ordered a combination fried rice which is a standard side I get at every Chinese restaurant and it was not good. The shrimps had veins and the rice was dark in color, the taste was not good. I think if the rice is not good then good luck with the rest if the food and this held true here, the other dishes were the same...below average. In summary, over priced and below average food. Another placed that is far too hyped up for what it's worth. No, they do not make the food fresh here, and yes, it is often sitting in a container under a heat lamp. I went here for lunch with a buddy of mine and were incredibly disappointed in not only the quantity of the food received, but the price of the food as well! It's worth noting I went back in 2012, and some people have stated they have changed some of their recipes, although I never gave it a shot after my initial experience. I love Yu's! I always know to go here for any of my Chinese cravings knowing they will be fulfilled. They are decently priced, especially for the serving sizes! I have never been disappointed with the food here and they are always very kind. Definitely recommend their egg rolls and the Lo mein! I know with new owners, when they first opened they weren't the best, but they really took all the review seriously and revamped their menu and it's almost better than the previous owners! I've been dining at Yu's for the past year. I don't know about past management but this one ROCKS! Every meal served has been delicious. Extensive selection of choices. Yu's is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. It's definitely better than Asian One and more authentic. The lady who is always working there is a hard worker and friendly and provides great service! The food is the bomb. I like to get orange chicken, fried rice, and egg rolls there. I have ordered from this place a couple of times via Food Dudes since the COVID outbreak. The first time I got the wrong food....as I reviewed my order - it was all good. I just got the wrong food! I had also requested a small order of white rice - which I also never got! The next time I ordered, I ended up with the wrong order AGAIN! When I called to inquire I as told that yes - I did not get what I wanted. I had also requested a small white rice, which I did not get. When I asked why I didn't get it I was told "We don't have white rice" WTF??? How does a chinese restraunt NOT have white rice?? I'm done with this place. The food we bland and lukewarm. My cashew shrimp I only got three shrimp that were over cooked. Fried rice was dry and tasteless. The cream cheese wontons were good. The lunch buffet here is a must. There are only about 8 main dishes, but each one of them is better than the best dish at any other buffet in Mankato. Take-out is hot and fresh, but on the expensive side. It's kind of an institution by the MSU campus. read more
