I can see why it's popular, but it didn't quite hit the same depth of flavor I've had at more classic ramen spots. This place leans more towards the trendy take on ramen vs the traditional style. It gets really busy, so make sure you make a reservation or are prepared to wait during dinner times. Service can be hit or miss because of its busyness.

This review is a little bit late, I went there a couple of weeks ago- so I don't know if the same ramen I had is still available... Service was really great. The server was very nice, attentive and made sure things were to my liking without being overbearing. I went during happy hour, which I've never been here before so I didn't know they had one. That was cool. I got a Chef's Special ramen and it came with a Demon slayer soup spoon. Dinner with a gift? Take my money. I had a big enough dish to last for 2 meals and to be honest, the ramen broth tasted even better the next day. The noodles were cooked nicely, great texture. The matcha tiramisu? Meh. I'd skip it. I love matcha and each component itself was nicely done, but together it was just okay. (They do have it on their happy hour menu if you wanna taste it for less than full price). The cucumber salad was 10/10. I'd eat it every day if I could. Flavors were great, all complemented each other and you got thick chunks of cucumber so it could really hang onto those flavors. Even if you don't normally like cucumber salad, you'd want to give this a try. I asked the server about the salmon poke tacos. He said he didn't eat seafood but it was a frequently ordered item. Obvi I had to try them. So, the wonton shell had a nice crisp crunch to it. It wasn't so thin that it would fall apart easily, which is great for the messier people like me. Flavor-wise, it was a little flat for me, even with lime squeezed over, it was just okay. (Tbh I do have extremely high standards with poke, so keep that in mind). I got some extra stuff to go. They have a kids meal which I didn't get for mine, but she probably would have loved it. I just got her the spicy chicken ramen. When you get the ramen to go, the put everything on the side which is nice and give you a separate bowl of ramen so it doesn't change the texture on the drive home. I also got a regular pork chashu bowl. I didn't try it but was told it was pretty good and the bowl was empty. If you have a bigger appetite, you might wanna spring for something a little bigger. They have a regular size and a small size and it was apparently not filling enough. This is an adorable place to go for a date night. It's laid back, open kitchen, and the music isn't too loud. I've come here during "off times" as the parking lot doesn't look that big, but I'm presuming if it gets full you can park on the street around it. Would I come back? Yes, if I'm in the area, but I wouldn't make a special drive way out of my way for it.

Always a solid experience at JINYA! I don't really change my order up too much- the tonkotsu black with thick noodles and the fresh pressed garlic is my go-to and it never disappoints. I will say though, I do notice some differences in quality between this specific location and the Chandler one. Not too sure what exactly it is, but I do prefer the Chandler one food-wise. My only qualm here is that for a chain, the ramen pricing is kind of expensive. Is it a really tasty bowl? Yes. Will I continue to come here regularly? Yes. But I do feel slightly guilty paying almost $20+ a bowl. I did notice this time that they had a great lunch deal, so I might have to opt for that next time. Service is always A-1 here though, everyone is an absolute delight and I love that they have a really easy waitlist/RSVP system through Yelp.

Came here a couple nights ago with my bestie (turned Yelpie!!!) to catch up and have a good bowl of ramen before our big race the next morning! Arriving on Friday around 630pm, we were seated immediately at a two top and had a few mins to check out the menu, decide on our entrees etc. I ordered my standard/predictable/obligatory glass of bubbles, haha! I'm not the biggest fan of ramen but I do like dumplings and fried chicken, so I ordered a plate of each and my friend got the specialty ramen that came with a souvenir spoon! We had a great time enjoying our food and catching up! Service was very pleasant and friendly, prices very reasonable, and easy enough for us to park in the dedicated lot since it's just a bit north of the downtown hustle and bustle. Would recommend!

I ordered a few things, the shrimp wonton ramen, poke tacos and the spicy creamy shrimp tempura. Service was quick and friendly and restaurant was nice and clean. I liked the broth of the ramen but the wontons were too dense for my liking. The poke tacos were pretty flavorless even with the lime on the side. But I didn't really enjoy the shrimp tempura, perfect flavor and crisp.

I stopped by Jinya Ramen for an early dinner after work. The place was not packed. They have outside sitting as well as bar and counter seats. I chose to sit inside the restaurant but the lighting was really dim and I had a hard time looking at the menu with the low light conditions. I know it's a bar but I think they should have better lighting conditions inside the restaurant. Moreover, I was shown the seat at the corner of the restaurant since I was by myself. That made it even harder to see the menu as it was furthest away from the door or any windows. Other than that, the food was great and the service was also good. But they had to lose a star from me cos of the poor lighting conditions. I may have been better off sitting outside, but my guess was that there could be other guests smoking when seated outside, which i wouldn't prefer. Lighting is too poor in the restaurant.

I really enjoyed the ramen from here! The wonton ramen was delicious. The matcha tiramisu wasn't my favorite, but still worth a try. I usually go often to one that is in Salt Lake City, Utah, but this location here in Phoenix was the worst service ever, they ran out of spoons, we got our ramen and we had to wait about 15min more to get a spoon as they were getting washed. Waitress were trying to avoid everyone that was waiting on a spoon.

I've been here twice for dinner and it's amazing! I had a sore throat last night and was really craving ramen. I got the chef's special ramen which came with a commemorative spoon to take home. The ramen was delicious and nourishing, exactly what I wanted and the spoon was a fun bonus! Our waitress was very welcoming. It's pretty dark inside, but modern with an open kitchen.

We had a great experience! The only down side would probably be the wait time since the restaurant is smaller with the parking lot not being that big either. The ramen was up to par with some of the best I've had. Very comparable to Mensho. The staff were very friendly and attentive to us. I'd recommend not going on the weekends to avoid the long wait times.

Jinya was a delightful experience. There is plenty of seating and the bar is great too. Our server Judy was very friendly and helped us with menu options. We enjoyed the Birria Ramen, I added an egg. We also got the Impossible™ Rice Bowl* and added pork. Both dishes were flavorful. The portions are large and 2 meals worth. The parking lot gets full very fast.

We ordered take out from here the other day. I tried using the online ordering system, but it wasn't working and I had to phone in the order. The woman was nice and my food was ready in about 20-30 minutes! The parking lot is small but the restaurant looks like a fun place to eat it! I ordered the Tonkotsu Black and my husband did the Premium Tonkotsu Red lv 8 spicy. When I got home and mixed my broth with the noodles, I noticed that there wasn't a lot of broth. It barely covered the noodles. My husband seemed to have enough with his. I tried to call the restaurant back to see if they could help fix the situation but no one answered. The ramen was still pretty good despite the small amount of broth provided. My husband enjoyed his ramen and said the spice level was perfect. To much more and it would have been uncomfortable. I would probably give this place another try one day, but I was definitely disappointed in the amount of broth provided.

Very busy on a Saturday evening, recommend joining online waitlist. We ended up sitting at the bar and service was slow but there was only one bartender and he was so busy with drinks/others at the bar it made sense. Food was great, birria ramen was super unique. Only one bathroom so the wait for the bathroom was consistently ~10 minutes throughout the evening. Joining app / rewards program gets you a free mochi dessert! Will definitely go back but maybe a weekday :)

JINYA hit the spot for ramen, and I would prefer this spot over Mensho any day. I am a huge black garlic ramen lover, so I was so excited to see Tonkatsu Black on their menu. The broth was so flavorful! It was not too thin from the oil, and the perfect balance of everything. The pork was not too fatty, the fried onion added a nice crunch, the seaweed is always welcome for me, and the egg was the perfect soft boil. As you can tell, I was a fan. My boyfriend has never had chicken ramen, so he tried the Chicken Ramen, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He said it reminded him of chicken noodle soup in a way--an elevated, elite version--and he does love chicken noodle soup. He didn't even need to add chili to it because he liked it as is. The noodles were also well made! As a starter, we did do the "crispy fried chicken," which is essentially chicken karaage. It was very crispy with tender chicken inside, and it would have been even better if it came with a spicy mayo. Their prices are still fairly high ($17-18), but that's just ramen nowadays, I guess. Luckily, they have a happy hour special everyday (3-6PM), so the chicken was on that menu + the two lycheetinis were at such a good price. The drinks were strong, but I love lychee-anything, so I was a fan of it, as well. We sat at the bar on the outside patio, and it was the perfect balance of both sides of the restaurant. I did enjoy how we received service from the bartender, so we were attended to very thoroughly. For a Sunday around 3:30pm, it was also not too busy. Overall, it was a lovely experience with great drinks/food and great service.

I'm assuming it's a family-owned joint because the one and only guy working front of house always takes care of me. He's awesome. The place is cute. It's tastefully decorated, and they have a very-on-brand, ginormous full moon light on the wall that's illuminated from behind. It's super cool. I've only ever seen a couple other diners in there with me at any time. The food comes out super fast, which is great, because I'm hungry as soon as i step in the place. Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. My true rating would be 4.5 due to some of the criticisms I mentioned above, but overall I still had a good experience. Thank you for serving us. Visited 5/2/26

I sat there for several minutes and when she came back, she asked if I was ready to order. I asked for a menu and then she tapped this little sign on the table that had a QR code on it. I guess they want you to use your phone to look up the menu but then she brought me a printed menu and a glass of water. I had about a minute to look at the menu before the waitress came back and asked what I wanted. I ordered the small portion of the chicken karaage appetizer and the Nishikawa Black Ramen. Both items came out at about the same time. The chicken was good and there was a lot which somewhat surprised me because I thought they had given me a large portion by mistake. The only downside was that the plate was really small so the chicken kept tumbling onto the table. The ramen was just ok. It came in a really big bowl and there was a lot of broth and toppings but relatively little noodles in comparison. It was more like a bowl of soup. The slice of pork was huge but a little bit chewy when I was expecting it to be tender. The egg wasn't sliced so it was difficult to pick up the entire piece with my chopsticks. The chicken was $7 and the ramen was $18. I would have been ok just getting the chicken, perhaps a large portion for $12. I wouldn't get this particular ramen again. With tax and a tip my total was a little over $31 which isn't the most I've spent at a ramen restaurant, but it wasn't cheap either. I wasn't offered a refill on my drink until after I had paid and was ready to leave. In fact, I only saw the waitress once after my food was brought out, and that was when she brought me the bill. The rest of the time she was somewhere in the kitchen.

I've enjoyed the vegan offerings at CK for years without issue, but this recent event has made me question whether I'll be returning. On a recent visit, my guy and I ordered the vegan potstickers to start, and also each ordered a cocktail and entree. As we finished sharing the potstickers, my throat and mouth started to itch and tingle, an indicator that I'd been exposed to something I'm allergic to. Our server came by and we asked if there are any nuts in the potstickers, and he quickly said that yes he's pretty sure there are. Then he asked if there was an allergy, to which I replied yes, I'm allergic to walnuts. He went to the kitchen and came back to say their allergen chart indicates tree nuts, but he'd have to ask the chef which one specifically. The server left again and was gone for at least 5 minutes at this time... Since we needed resolve quickly, my boyfriend left our table and went down the street to get me Benadryl. While the bf was gone, the server came back and said he couldn't find any Benadryl in the emergency kit, and asked how I was doing. I was quite uncomfortable, but trying to be patient waiting for Benadryl to arrive. Not sure what else was to be done in that moment. While I was hanging out alone waiting on my bf to return, the manger eventually came over and checked on me. He said he would take the potstickers off the bill. Gee, thanks? In hindsight, paying nearly $100 for the rest of the meal felt like a gut punch when I couldn't really enjoy anything and my guy had to physically leave in the middle of the meal to fix an issue they caused with negligence. Menu screenshot attached is from 5/18, which is about 2 weeks after my incident, so I'm assuming CK has not yet fixed their menus.

On a Sunday evening, after checking out the Desert Botanical Garden, I was looking for some food in…read morethe area. I came across Zu Izakaya and it's great reviews as one of the options. I love Japanese food so my decision was made. I drove over and parked in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (3.5/5): I've been to Japan and there are plenty of izakayas there. Think of them as small bars which often serve solid food. Zu fits that bit. It's a relatively small restaurant, probably seats about 30 people. and it's pretty no frills for a Japanese spot. I was seated at a booth in the corner of the restaurant. They have free WiFi which is always a good touch. Service (3/5): Service was friendly, though a bit inconsistent. My waitress wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. The type of service where you have to flag them down to get what you want and to close out. Drinks (4/5): Zu has a nice menu of Japanese and Korean beverages, including sake, soju, Japanese beer, and more. With that being said, I just had an iced green tea. Food (4/5): I got a nice variety. I went with the Japanese sausage off of the grill menu, the OBI mayo roll off of the sushi menu, and the cheese corn off of the appetizer menu. Let's start with the sausage. It's a small item, two small sausages, but absolutely delicious. The sausage was bursting with flavor and basted in a sweet sauce. Minus the portion size, perfection. The cheese corn also hit the spot, but the execution was off. The corn is served on a hot platter, and unfortunately some of the corn on the edges was badly burnt. The type of situation where they should start over. Which they didn't. Lastly, the OBI mayo roll is essentially a California roll with marinated warm shrimp on top in a mayo sauce. I didn't love the hot and cold combo (shrimp and sushi), but outside of the temperature, it was a delicious roll. All in all, a very food meal. My only gripe with Japanese food is that it can get expensive quick. Given that Zu is in Tempe, I was hoping that prices would be a little cheaper. With that being said, they do have a solid happy hour (and reverse happy hour) with both food and drink specials. Next time I stop by, I'd like to check out some of their Korean options. I focused on the Japanese stuff this time (which makes the majority of the menu). Next time around, the bulgogi is calling my name!

Funny enough, this actually wasn't even the exact restaurant my partner had been thinking of when he brought it up, but honestly I'm so glad we ended up here anyway because the food was REALLY good. We ordered the flaming ohmygod sushi roll, and man... it was amazing. Not only was the presentation fun, but the sushi itself actually tasted incredible too, which sometimes isn't the case with more "gimmicky" menu items. It was so good that I literally ordered another roll to-go and took it on the plane back home with me because I already knew I'd be craving it later. That alone should say enough about how much I liked it. I also tried the matcha martini, and it was honestly one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. It had the perfect balance of matcha flavor and alcohol where neither one overpowered the other. Sometimes matcha drinks either taste way too earthy or completely lose the matcha flavor under the alcohol, but this one was super smooth, flavorful, and really well done. The restaurant itself also has a really nice atmosphere. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and the indoor area definitely has a more upscale vibe than your usual sushi spot and that makes the experience feel a little more elevated and perfect for a date night. On top of all that, the servers were super friendly and provided genuinely great service throughout the meal. Everyone was attentive, welcoming, and made the experience feel really comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, this place completely exceeded my expectations. Great sushi, fun presentation, amazing drinks, friendly service, and a really nice atmosphere. I'd absolutely come back again.

The cocktails were unique, but the sushi stole the show. The interior is trendy, lively, and young. The only other complaint was they only had 2 individual bathrooms so it was a 20 minute wait just to use the restroom.
