Skip's undoubtedly has some of the best bagels in Cincinnati. No fuss or frills, just amazingly delicious and fluffy New York style bagels. They have a plethora of bagel flavors, all fresh baked and pillowy soft. The fluffy interior is perfect for smothering cream cheese or butter. They have lots of other options too that I look forward to trying, like deli sandwiches, breakfast burritos, and baked goods (the cinnamon rolls are giant). Service is quick and friendly. You can grab and go or stay around in their rather spacious dining room. You can order online though if you're realy in a rush. read more

I've never tried skips until I needed to cater a family breakfast. Wow was a south standing or what! Bagels are soft with the right amount of chew. We had the breakfast sandwiches and cream cheese. It worked out perfect . The second time I bought bagels here I was going down to Louisville to see a sick brother. Brought sandwiches and chicken salad and tuna salad. Went here for breakfast. There is booths and tables to sit and eat your meal. They had music playing. The service to take our order was quick. The food took a little time to cook. I would say prices was a little high. The food was just ok. It was served hot but not too flavorful. It just tasted bland. I think they should add spices or onions to the breakfast burrito. Our bill for two was almost $30. We had two sausage, egg, cheese burritos and I had potatoes and my husband a cinnamon roll. They did give you a lot of potatoes but still tasted pretty bland. Stopped here on an absolute whim heading out of town and will definitely be back. Much bigger inside than it seemed. Food was perfect. Bagels were fresh and soft. I ordered a BLT + Egg bagel sandwich, and it was literally only bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato placed inside a sliced bagel. Which ... I guess is technically a BLT + Egg bagel sandwich? All of the components of a BLT and egg sandwich are there. But the sandwich was super dry and difficult to eat because they didn't add any spread or cream cheese or anything to give it some oomph and flavor. They did the bare minimum, and it showed. My husband got a blueberry bagel with cream cheese, which he seemed to like. They slice the bagel and then sandwich the cream cheese between the two halves. I also ordered two Americanos, not looking at the menu before I ordered. Apparently, they don't have Americanos, or any kind of coffee other than drip coffee that you dispense yourself. Which is fine, but the lady behind the counter didn't say anything about not having Americanos -- she just put two empty coffee cups on the counter without a word and walked away. Alrighty then. They were quick to have my order ready, but speed shouldn't trump attention to detail. read more

If ordering takeout, I suggest checking the accuracy of your order before leaving. Quality control has taken a nosedive. My past 5 takeout orders have all had something wrong or were missing the side. The most interesting was when I had ordered two bagels with cream cheese. They mismatched pairing up the tops and bottoms, so I ended up with a bagel that was half cinnamon crunch with strawberry cream cheese and half salt bagel with scallion cream cheese. Everything was smooshed together, so no saving either bagel! read more

My friend had been mentioning this place to me for quite sometime, but when I was in the area, always forgot to stop by. It is in a small plaza and not something I would have noticed if I wasn't looking for it! I decided to stop by on a weekday after the lunch time rush. It was quiet, so I decided to venture in rather than order ahead online. The inside was not what I was expecting at all! It is huge! To the left is the deli area. They seem to have the line and social distancing setup perfected! The order counter is such to protect the staff. The right side is the large dining room, complete with a very nice fireplace and TVs. This too, seems to be fairly safe for the times, although I myself am not dining in anywhere I ordered a sandwich, along with a pack of 6 bagels and cream cheese to take home for the week. My order was ready quickly. For my lunch I got the "Garden Bagel Sandwich" on an everything bagel, add turkey and muenster. This thing was HUGE and very generously packed with super fresh ingredients. It came with a pickle and side of my choice, which was macaroni salad. I could barely finish half of it! For take home I got onion, everything, blueberry, asiago, cinnamon, and jalapeno bagels with a container of light veggie cream cheese. Each bagel had a great flavor, was soft, and held up well for several days at home. The cream cheese was excellent. This place will for sure be added into my rotation of fave spots. Have gone there several times in the last few months. We always ask to sub American cheese for cheddar because the American cheese ruins the omelet. Third time they have given us American even though it clearly says cheddar on the screen and bag receipt. Today they were out of CO2 for soda machine which we go there for the Diet Pepsi but they charged 20 cents for water cups. They don't ask if you want cream cheese on your bagel or the side so we always forget to ask for it. Had to wait in line to order it and $1.62 for maybe a Tablespoon or 2 of cream cheese seems silly but I get they have costs to cover. Got a regular sandwich that had very little turkey on it. Today was mostly bread. Last visit and today there is one woman who works there that seems absolutely miserable all the time and acts like you are bothering her just for being there. She doesn't smile or say have a nice day and basically tosses stuff at you instead of handing it to you. The line was too long to complain about the cheese today and get a new omelet made so my husband said he doesn't want to return. Maybe try again in 6 months and see if overall service and quality improves. I don't like giving poor reviews but it seems like things are going downhill. read more

Ordered the NY style lox and cream cheese add a slide of tomato on an everything bagel. Honestly I was slightly disappointed. Coming in the door the outside area was dirty. They were out of Skip's coffee when I went to get mine and the bagel just seemed old. A bit dry. The deli I remembered where you could buy meats was gone as well. I was recommended to a place in Oakley called Balgelry and it was no competition. I miss something from the Skip's I came to yeas ago. If on this side of town would I stop here if really craving a bagel, yes, but I would really need to be craving one! Speed of service was fine and no issues. read more

Having never been before I hit it for lunch on a whim after scouting the menu in the parking lot. I went with the regular Dagwood on a plain bagel. It was A LOT of sandwich and being Boar's Head, it delivered on flavor. I would probably go with a sub next time - the bagel provided a little too much chew for me, but that's just me. Previously I have visited this establishment and was quite disappointed in the insignificant amount of effort put forth in the creation of my sausage egg and cheese. But lo, one day I felt the presence of God show me the light to give this lowly establishment another try. In this newfound glimmer of hope I return to this bagel deli since it is along my passage to my layer of hell (work) and this time order the same cuisine, but rather than a plain bagel I chose to place the fillings upon a cinnamon bagel and this glorious creation made the devil cry of fear from the shear amount of taste that filled my mouth. A supplementary piece of information is that this deli made me feel as God himself was watching over me with the fireplace keeping me heated within the Siberian weather that came over the environment. One additional victory that restored my hope for this establishment was that the rude hate-filled individual that served me before seemed to be banished and exiled to his place next to Hades. I thank you Mr. Skip Thole, Chief Bagel Creator, for reaching out previously and resolving my prior enragement. Until Revelations I will stand with this championed place of sustenance and I give those the reason to acquire a cinnamon bagel to start your voyage of the epoch. read more

Was visiting family and they had bought an assortment of bagels to have. The flavor of the Everything bagel was really good! The seasonings were perfect! However, the bagel itself was stale and dry. The bottom half tasted like a saltine cracker with cream cheese. (so sad) read more

My biggest complaint? Tables are ALWAYS dirty. I've been coming here for years (soup and a toasted bagel is my go to), and no matter if they are busy or slow, the tables are ALWAYS dirty. Also, it always costs more than what the menu says. I'm talking about the before tax items never match the menu prices. They do have good soup though. read more

Skip's is a simple place for a bagel. It does it's best to make this complicated. The cashier should know the menu but they don't seem to. It makes it longer to order than it should be. The bagels also aren't impressive. Honestly you could get similar quality at Kroger in the bakery. It's not anything mind blowing. This just costs a little more. It has a lot of meat based items. There's not that many good vegetarian options, but you can make your own sandwich. I had a sesame bagel with peanut butter. It's about $3 for a bagel. That's not crazy expensive but it's not like it was high quality. A lot more of the other bagel sandwiches are even more expensive. They do have some big portions. It could be much better. It has some good tasting food. This is just kind of overpriced. read more

This used to be my go-to bagel Sunday morning place. I loved the food, service and friendliness and used to always see someone I knew. Haven't been in years as Sunday mornings schedule change so I was happy to be in the area this Sunday morning and stopped by to get my old stand-bys: An apple cinnamon bagel with apple cinnamon cream cheese and a bacon egg and cheese on a toasted everything. Figured I eat half of each and bring the rest home. Place looked good...they made some updates and the service was decent (counter was fast, kitchen slow...about 10 minutes to get my order). When I got in my car ready to dig in, I was so disappointed! They barely wrapped the b/e/c bagel and it was hanging open and mushy. I'd asked for it to be toasted and didn't know why it had no crispness. Ate half of it and didn't finish. I always LOVED their apple cinnamon cream cheese and it was awful! The consistency of the cream cheese was strange and it tasted rancid. I took a few bites and threw it away. I figured it may be a bad day, but talked to a friend and she said the same thing...they just aren't good any more. I may try again. After all, this was a favorite for years. Maybe they're under new ownership? Maybe they're going through a rough bump? Whatever it is, I'm hoping it goes back to a consistently good bagel bakery. read more

I am a fan! This is a family owned business, and has been in the Mason Landon area for quite some time. They offer various sandwich choices, as well as several soups and salads. They do offer a specific soups on specific days, so know that not every soup will be available each day. One of the things that I love about this restaurant and that I often forget, is that you can go inside to purchase deli meat. They have a greed deli that offers several high quality meat choices, and you can have them slice it by the pound for you right there. They also have delicious desserts! There scones and pie are delicious. I have to remind myself of that, for instead of going through the Starbucks drive-through to get a scone, they are cheaper and bigger than what you would find at Starbucks. I usually stick to my favorite sandwich choices..The Crosley is a big hit! One thing I love is when you have bacon on your sandwich, the bacon is actually in the shape of a circle to fit your bagel. No more strips of bacon falling off into your lap. You can experiment with your choice of bread. My favorite is the asiago cheese bagel! Went to Skips today to pick up some bagels and as usual, they were amazing. The customer service was fantastic and the quality of the bagels was deliciously fresh. My favorite is the jalapeno bagel with the veggie cream cheese. I've been going to Skips for over 8 years and the service is always spot on, the restaurant is clean and the food is always amazing. I have lived in NYC and I can tell you, these bagels are as delicious as a New York Deli Bagel. Keep making those amazing bagels and salads! read more

AMAZING!! i came in for lunch today and all of the workers were so friendly and patient!! i got the downtown mary jane and they allowed me to customize it to my liking! all the ingredients were fresh, portions were phenomenal, and the everything bagel was so delicious!! price isn't too bad (about $8.50) and it came with a side (chips, pretzels, macaroni salad, potato salad, etc) so compared to other lunches, it's not overpriced at all. all of their bagels looked delicious (i've had their strawberry and blueberry before and they are also amazing) but i look forward to returning to try a breakfast sandwich. definitely worth a visit and i will be returning soon! read more
