Eating here was a happy little accident! We went on the ghost tour downtown and it ended at 10. We had not eaten dinner as we weren't hungry yet. Incredible pizza, so much flavor and totally worth every penny. I got the gyro pizza and it literally tasted like eating a gyro, tons of flavor packed in. It used to be better. My wife and I got engaged in NYC. There's something so special about the city that never sleeps that they write songs and make movies about it. It's influenced popular culture and cuisine around the world. So many places claim to have REAL NYC pizza. Pre covid you could actually go inside and stand at the counter, or maybe sit at the table or two. I'd imagine covid stopped that, and they've kept their carry out model ever since. There are 3 tables and 9 chairs out on the sidewalk to give you a minute to eat your food, so don't be completely out off by the new carryout model. The pizza used to be amazing. $9.00 and change for 2 slices of carryout. The toppings, while not sparse, we're not generous. And the overall quality of the pizza was so-so. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat that won't break the bank, this is probably the place. If you're looking for the best pizza of pizza or a slice of nostalgia, keep walking. read more

Exactly what it's advertised as. I had walked past it for honestly 2 years before I was wandering Front St. looking for lunch. I had a sub in mind, but couldn't get over the thought of a slice of pizza! .I ordered two slices of cheese and a diet Coke for less than $10. They have all the usual toppings and offer most by the slice. I waited at a table on the sidewalk and my pizza was nice and hot in no time. It was crunchy and flavorful. I ate at the table and really enjoyed this spot. I usually hate outdoor tables on a busy block like this, but they're situated well enough that you are tucked out of the way and can people watch. Will add this to my lunch rotation. I'm sure its a great spot after exploring some of our downtown bars, as well. read more

This place is running as a takeout window in a narrow, downtown Wilmington spot. It feels very New-York-y both in appearance and aroma. I ordered online and mine was ready close to when I ordered. Most people just seemed to be walking up to the window and buying a slice, but I bought a ton of pizza. They do have a couple of tables on the sidewalk. The margherita pizza I tried seemed straightforward enough, but I really didn't like how they did it. The tomatoes were so heavy that the pizza was a bit wet, and the acidity and tartness was too much. I ended up picking off a bunch of tomatoes and saving them to mix in with other dishes, which improved the taste a bit. The garlic was spread unevenly, and the fresh mozzarella, while nice, seemed like almost an afterthought. I think I'd be much happier with a regular cheese pizza with a bit of sauce. The Sicilian pizza I got with peppers and mushrooms and liked far more. The toppings seemed fresh (I'm no fan of canned or pickled peppers or mushrooms). It was a robust and filling slice with a pleasantly browned edge. If I come back, I'll know what to order. This is not the kind of place to go if you're looking for an unconventional pizza because you have issues with wheat or dairy. It's pretty much all wheat and dairy. But the cheese quality is high, the smell tantalizing and I could easily see why their by-the-slice business was going strong. read more

We've been going to these guys forever, mainly because they're one of the only places you can get food in downtown during bar-hopping/party hours for some utterly unknowable reason, but I'm pretty sure tonight was our last time. First of all, you can get a whole pizza at Mellow Mushroom before they close or a DiGornio from DGX for half the price of 3 slices at this place, they even got better pizza at the fancy Italian place, Quanto Basta down the street for cheaper. I guess the extra gallon of grease costs more, you tell me, I dunno who in their right mind thinks more than $2.50 a slice plus tip for dough, cheese and toppings is reasonable, but I digress. Secondly, we had just put down about an hour's pay for 3 slices when we see the older guy flipping the dough with no hairnet or gloves on, put a finger on his nose to launch a snot rocket in the garbage can before going right back to putting his bare hands on the food, needless to say that was $18 straight in the garbage. A lot of locals give this place a pass because they think if a pizza place has NY in the name, it automatically makes it NY quality, it's not, just overpriced, greasy and gross. Sorry, not sorry, 2 stars for being one of the few food spots open at a time that makes sense in a downtown area for what it's worth. read more

Love this place for a great slice of NY pizza! This location is easy to get to downtown and close to a parking deck if you're picking up takeout. Pretty good pizza for gigantic $3 slices. Restaurant is very skinny and goes a decent amount back. Right when you walk in you can see all the pizzas ready for you. Good place to grab a quick slice downtown! A few friends of mine came to town on Cinco de Mayo weekend for a friend's birthday and were pleasantly surprised to learn that there was a bar crawl downtown that very weekend. So we all decided to do a little bar crawling for the day. Of course we needed some carbs, so a couple friends and I decided to grab some slices at I Love NY Pizza. What better meal for day drinking? The staff was great and a lot of fun. I ordered a slice of cheese. It was less than $3 and heated and ready to eat in less than 3 minutes. It was delicious and just what I needed. There isn't really a lot of parking near, but there's plenty of downtown parking lots and street parking all around. If you're downtown and want a quick bite definitely check them out. read more

Line had to have been attributed just to the limited late night pizza choices for the bar hopping scene at that hour or convenience. I wouldn't voluntarily go there again during the day. The staff was very nice, I will say, though. As a 1st timer, I read the menu, and it only offered 4 types of pizza as slice choices, but after ordering, I saw others order slices of the more specialty pizzas (i.e., spinach), so I kind of had fomo and wished there was a more accurate list of what I could have ordered as a slice. read more

I can't even begin to explain how AMAZING this pizza is. I went to Wilmington on a mini vacation and wanted something quick and easy before we hit the road back home. I looked up the reviews and knew this was my place! The employees were very nice when we entered. There were so many options, I could barely choose. I ended up getting the BBQ chicken and my friend got pepperoni and mushroom and a slice of bacon ranch pizza and all 3 were DELICIOUS... well beyond delicious. The price was just right, the service was quick and most of all, it truly tasted like authentic NY pizza. We were able to sit outside and eat and people watch which was really cool. They have limited seating but pizza is one of those things you can walk and eat if they don't have space. We got lucky because it got busy after we got our food. When I'm back in Wilmington, and I want something super quick, I'll definitely head there and grab a few slices. read more
