Pizza is good but... Staff is inept. Placed order at 8:07 and was on hold for 5 minutes and was told would be ready in 15 minutes. I showed up 20 minutes later and was told it would be 7-15 minutes. Very dismissive staff. I can get good pizza at multiple places but good service makes the experience better. A manager needs to get the staff in line. This was helpful since I'm staying at a motel so I knew exactly when to go downstairs to get the food. I really enjoyed the pizza, cheesy bread and cookies! I was at Leland Brewery today and Wheelz Pizza food truck was there. To begin with I was very hesitant ordering a pizza from a food truck, how good could it be, right? I was pleasantly surprised it was possibly the best pizza I have had in a very long time! I'm in love with the crispy sourdough crust and the organic vegetables mixed with the correct amount of cheeses. I had to know more about this company and immediately researched them online. To my surprise they have a brick and mortar store here in Leland! I've been living here for 3 years and never heard anything about them. Just discovered Wheelz on my last visit to Wrightsville beach and was very impressed. Great menu, food ready on time, and quality of the pizza is outstanding. What would have been 5 stars because of the quality of the ingredients and the pizza is a 4 star due to customer service. When I placed the order, the app let me know it was outside of the "normal" delivery zone but asked if I wanted to pay an extra $4 to have it delivered. Since I had heard such great things about this pizza, I thought it was worth the extra delivery cost. The order and tracking process was very good (provided tracking of the driver, etc) but when the delivery arrived the driver was agitated and said "just so you know this is way outside of the delivery zone. I chose to bring it to you since you had already ordered it but next time you need to pick it up." And he turned and walked away without even a thank you for his tip, etc. Here's the deal....don't accept an order, charge an extra fee, and then make the customer feel they are at fault. We ordered Wheelz Pizza a few times while living in Carolina Beach for 9 months. The taste on the pizza is phenomenal and their service is quick. My only quarrel with their pizza lies in the fact that they tend to hold back on the amount of sauce and cheese from time to time so if you're not getting a pizza loaded with toppings, it can feel kind of bland. The pizza is damn good. Maybe the best in the city. I have eaten from their food truck once, and ordered for delivery twice. They make it easy to order online. Website is easy to use. You can even leave the tip when ordering online. It took about an hour to get my pizzas delivered, but both times it was piping hot. Amazing pizza and sandwiches... plus the staff is super nice. We were visiting Wilmington from Virginia and my only complaint is that this restaurant is 5 1/2 hours from my house. Very reasonably priced and the value is beyond what you will pay. Sauce is delicious, perfect bake on the pizza and the premises were inviting. I've never been to a pizzeria where there is a legit baker on site making dough and bread fresh, this place does that. Definitely recommend One suggestion to the owner/manager; you should charge more, I'd definitely pay more ;-) read more

Tried this new food truck at Sour Barn. Wheelz Pizza publicizes using organic and fresh ingredients as well as New York/Neapolitan style thin crust pizza. It looks like you can order pizza on their website or through their app and pick up the pizza at their store location. They offered four types of pizza: classic cheese, Margherita, sausage, and cheese. There are two sizes available, either half ($6.50-$7.50) or a large 14-inch size ($12-$14). The half size comes with 4 slices and comfortably satisfies a petite size person if you're not that hungry. If you are feeling hungry, then get 1-2 large size pies. They also offer a homemade chocolate chip cookie for $1.50. We tried the Margherita pizza. What they got right was the thin crust. It was perfectly crispy, soft, chewy and lightly charred. They serve the pizzas on this type of plastic mesh which circulates the air and prevents the crust becoming soggy. What my party and I did not like was the lack of tomato sauce and cheese. Understandably it is hard to get the right ratio of tomato sauce to crust and still produce a crispy crust. In this case, they were erring on the wrong side of too little sauce. It was like a sprinkle of tomato sauce on the pizza. The taste of the tomato sauce was okay, more on the acidic side, not sweet. The mozzarella slices were way too thin-it was like a tease. My stomach was begging for more cheese and sauce. I did like the slivers of fresh basil on top of the pizza though. I would give 3.5 stars if I could. In terms of food trucks, I would rather eat Wilmy Woody's for a much more satisfying pizza meal. read more

Wow! I have not left a review for Wheelz Pizza yet?!?!? I am now bc it is very deserving and I believe Wheelz is the best delivery option for my home. FOOD: Standard cheese and chicken, bacon, ranch pizzas. Beginning with the cheese pizza, this is the one I typically pull the trigger on each and every time. The blends of the four cheeses, the pleasant sauce (not too tangy; not too sweet) and that nice char on the dough is great. I love the size of each slice and the thickness of the dough. This cheese pizza ranks in my top 5 in Wilmington. The chicken, bacon ranch pizza was a nice surprise compared to my #1 of these in town. Although I prefer smaller bits of chicken spread evenly throughout compared to Wheelz's larger, freshly prepared chicken chunks, their bacon comes through. This pie has nice balance and is a great option to enjoy when you want a "very good" pizza. Our fam enjoyed both and even they say Wheelz is our best delivery option. SCORE: 4.5 STARS!! SERVICE: Download the Wheelz Pizza app, place your order at your closest location and use your digital wallet to complete your order within minutes. No headaches, no phone call, very low and reasonable delivery fee and you go directly to the source. The estimated wait time was 45 mins and it arrived at our door in just 40 mins. Wheelz Pizza is the best you can find in Wilmington. Unfortunately, their management is no where near the quality of their pizza. All summer they have been posting locations for their food trucks that are inaccurate. 3 times I have driven across town to the location listed on their website only to find no one there. When you call the store they just say "the website us not up to date". Pretty crappy management. The staff in the trucks are great and friendly. Ownership apparently is lame. read more

I didn't go through so I called the 17th street location and spoke to Brian(I believe) and he said the had a large party that they were serving then so that is why. He was very apologetic and I said I would reorder the next day. I tried to do so a couple of times and it didn't work. So I called Brian at the 17th street location. He said they have been having internet and technology problems....(who isn't in these crazy times)!!! I was in Wilmington for vacation and was really disappointed in this place. The pizzas we got were very undercooked and not seasoned at all. Also, the inside of the restaurant was disorganized with kitchen racks and refrigerators in the dining room. I'm not sure if they recently opened or not, but I wouldn't go back here.
