    Lebanese Spirit
    Andrew K.

I tried the American Spirit today--a classic plate of waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, and fries, done in true American style. It was my first time ordering a breakfast dish here. Overall, the meal struck a decent balance between comfort and a sense of freshness and quality. That said, I personally prefer my bacon and waffles a bit crispier, and the fries were fairly ordinary and did not stand out. Service was a mixed experience. My server was warm and friendly, but not particularly attentive. I had to wait for utensils after they were forgotten, and my water was not refilled until I was nearly finished with my meal and ready to leave. I also noticed that servers who were not directly attending to my table tended to avoid eye contact and did not engage much. I often found myself setting the tone--offering a smile or initiating conversation--before receiving that same energy in return. All in all, nothing about the food or service stood out as exceptional during this visit.

I came here for the very first time on a Sunday morning with my husband after running at Woodward. The waiter who initially took our order was average and a bit hard to find, but we were later helped by someone who was very friendly and attentive, which made the experience better. We tried the chocolate French toast and the all American breakfast. The food came out fresh and tasted delicious. You can really tell the quality of the ingredients, which stood out to me. The inside of the restaurant is very cozy, with lots of plants and warm woven decor on the walls and baskets that give it a nice atmosphere. Overall, I might come back because the food was great, but the service did not fully impress me.

Held a dinner meeting at Zaatar and the staff was very accommodating with find us a table in a good place. I was recommended the Garden Mojito (non-alcoholic refresher) and it was perfect. The food & dessert was amazing! This is my 2nd time and just as good as I remembered.

My 2nd visit here, I dined in at lunchtime on a Thursday. Suggested by my fabulous server, Meg, I tried and LOVED a non-alcoholic spirit, the Cranberry Cosmo. Since I had not yet eaten breakfast, I ordered avocado toast. Slightly generous, but just the right amount, of avocado spread. Also arugula, caramelized onions, balsamic sauce, heirloom tomatoes, parmesan cheese, and light balsamic sauce on wheat bread. It was delicious and fulfilling. Had to ask about the WTF (What's Trending Fresno) dessert, and ordered it for take out. On this day, the WTF was Daisy Cat. My littles and I enjoyed and devoured it at home. My 1st visit was in attendance for a private party over a year ago. Very appeased to return, and looking forward to reordering same and trying more on subsequent visits. Also, Naj shared with me their new location downtown, in The Galleria, opened a week or two ago!

A full service restaurant, ready to receive you for breakfast lunch or dinner! With gorgeous decor giving an earthy vibe paired with upbeat music you are sure to be in a great mood! Staff were so kind and patient. Stopping in for lunch was amazing! I noticed their vast drink menu and all the drinks sound quite yummy so I'll definitely be back to try some of those! The wrap had great flavor that wasn't overwhelming and the fries paired nicely. Also the pita bread was so fluffy, hadn't had one like this in a while so i was pleasantly surprised! I look forward to visiting either of their locations again!

First time at Zaatar Bistro (and first time ever trying zaatar itself) and it was a hit! We walked in and were quickly seated at a table for two with good natural lighting. It was around 11:30am on a Wednesday so it wasn't super busy. I appreciated the holiday decorations they had up as well. We ordered the Red Nectar teapot to start, which was perfect for the gloomy day. While we sipped on that, our orders of the kafta special and the Lebanese spirit came out, and I was blown away. The Lebanese spirit was wayyyy bigger than it looks in pictures. It was basically a small/personal pizza, and I was full after like 2-3 slices (and I picked off the kafta as well, so maybe I could've done one more slice). The kafta special was tasty and the sauce it came with added just the perfect amount of moisture. The fries were pretty standard, regular fries. Our waitress was relatively attentive but not overbearing. We appreciated her service. Will be back!

Had been wanting to visit here and finally did for breakfast on a weekend. Got there before 9am and only 1-2 other tables. Sat by the window which has a nice corner bench. Pistachio lattes are apparently their specialty which was nicely flavored. Got the breakfast hummus which was huge portion and is scrambled eggs on top of hummus and surprisingly good! Their bread is warm and seems freshly made. We also got one of their omelettes which were decent and their specialty combo breakfast which comes with fresh veggies, labneh and this flatbread like dish which was so nicely seasoned. Ambiance is festive and fun. Staff attentive enough for weekend and professional.

I've heard great things about Zaatar and was able to finally try it out! Went during brunch time and they have a small brunch menu selection for the weekends. My plate contained eggs, fries, a salad, and a slice of toast. The eggs were really good, fluffy. I ordered some bacon (3 pieces for $3.50) and it was perfectly cooked. But the thing that was the most satisfying was the espresso martini. It's perfectly balanced (coffee, liquor, texture). The service was great! Very attentive, open to answer questions. It's cute inside with lots of seating. They have a bar too which they were showing the NFL football game, perfect for people who want to get some food/drinks and watch the game. I believe they had the sound on but not too sure. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu for lunch and dinner. And I'm for sure coming back for the espresso martini.

    Nicole O.

My mother and I got to try this lovely bistro for the first time today. Menu items were unique, but everything absolutely sounded delicious. I do not think you could have gone wrong with anything. We ordered the Lebanese Spirit, Egg & Stuff, Chocolate French Toast, Hummus w/ steak, and Traditional Fatteh. Everything was freshly made and had quality ingredients. They do have their own special coffee and a bar. I ordered the pistachio latte, which was divine and so strong, just the way I like it. I even took one to go because I loved it so much. I think everyone can find something to their liking. My mom and I will definitely be back to try their lunch items. Given that my mom and I came an hour after they opened, it was very quiet inside. We enjoyed the place and how beautiful it was. I can't speak on service during lunch or dinner hours. For us, the service was excellent during the time we were there. I look forward to coming back.

Mango tea. My friends liked this.

I enjoyed an ok lunch here with friends recently. I was looking forward to it and based on the reviews I expected excellent food and friendly service. The food was good, the ambiance was fine, the drinks were ok, and the service was polite but I would not say friendly despite the efforts of our little group to be friendly to our server. She seemed like she was having a bad day or maybe had some bad news on her mind. For drinks at first I ordered a pear mocktail. It was very expensive, and the server said they didn't have any pear flavoring so they'd sub another fruit (maybe peach?) and it basically was just very expensive soda water with no flavor. I should have said no to it after she said the pear mocktail wouldn't have any pear in it. So that's on me. Other friends got the mango tea and seemed to enjoy that a lot more. The food was good. I got the appetizer combo as my meal. I chose hummus (good), spicy labne (excellent) and shan-klich (cheese with spices - good). It came with some perfectly fine bread. There was not a lot of bread though (or it was kind of unclear whether the bread was for my meal or for the table so we were sharing it and we were not offered more). Basically the food the good, the atmosphere was nice and we weren't rushed out, and the service was indifferent but not unkind, but the server seemed depressed / unhappy / indifferent enough that it made me a bit uncomfortable. Oh and she didn't provide us separate checks so we had to sort it out at the table with cash which was kind of a drag. Fortunately most of us had cash but it was like "who had what?" and then trying to make sure we paid enough and rounded up enough to make a good tip. As is normal in these situations I add in an extra $10 or so, on top of my order and tip, to make sure there's enough. So it ended up being kind of expensive for an appetizer and a mocktail -- and most places will just give you separate checks these days. I can tell this place is a nice place with good food and I wish them well, but based on this experience I was not impressed.

I loved everything about this place. Everyone on staff is so friendly and accommodating. They made me feel like I was welcome and taken care of. The restaurant itself was beautiful. And the food, absolutely incredible. I got to try different Lebanese foods with unique flavors. The Lebanese Spirit was seasoned so well and had a delicious aroma. The deboned chicken plate had chicken that was lemony and flavored to perfection. It came with potato pita which was mashed potato inside a crispy pita pocket. It also had a heaping portion of grilled veggies and fries with a side of garlic sauce. The garlic sauce that it came with was amazing! Buttery and creamy. I also tried the seedlip. I ordered it hot and it had shredded coconut, cinnamon, and crushed pistachios on top. The hot drink was like a sweet milk flavored with rose water. I never tasted anything like it. It was so good! And everything was reasonably priced which I appreciate. I'm definitely going to be coming back here again.

This original location remains my recommended spot for Mediterranean food. Many Mediterranean…read morerestaurants in Fresno County are Armenian-owned, while only a small handful--like this family-run restaurant--specialize in Lebanese cuisine. Lebanese food is widely considered among the best expressions of Mediterranean cooking due to its vibrant use of fresh ingredients, particularly herbs, lemon, garlic, and olive oil, along with a strong emphasis on healthy, plant-based, and grilled dishes. It offers diverse, shareable, and nutrient-dense options such as tabbouleh, hummus, and falafel, making it both flavorful and nutritious. I always enjoy dining at Golden Grill because they exemplify Lebanese cuisine so well. Their dishes highlight fresh herbs like mint and parsley, along with garlic and lemon juice, rather than relying heavily on spices. The result is a light, refreshing, and aromatic flavor profile that feels both vibrant and balanced. The kebabs are excellent. The grilled cubes of beef, chicken, and kafta (ground beef and lamb) skewers are flavorful, tender, and juicy, topped with herbs and grilled to perfection. They carry a subtle smokiness and savory aroma, and the meats are beautifully charred with vibrant color. Their pita and saj sandwiches are also very well done. Each sandwich is warm and carefully assembled, forming a sturdy pocket filled with high-quality ingredients. They combine savory meats (or falafel and vegetables), creamy sauces, and crunchy pickles and onions into a balanced bite. The bread holds generous fillings without collapsing while still being tender enough to bite through easily. The pocket opens cleanly, creating the perfect pouch for the ingredients. For a small restaurant with limited seating that appears to receive many to-go orders, the presentation for dine-in guests is especially thoughtful. The dishes are served on clean white ceramic plates and trays, with the food carefully arranged and portions balanced. It is simple yet elegant and visually appealing. Golden Grill also captures the Lebanese mezze-style dining experience. As someone of Korean heritage, I appreciate this approach, since it is similar to how Korean meals are served with many shared dishes that provide variety in every meal. Some of the shared plates include Lebanese staples like hummus, falafel, tabbouleh, baba ghanouj, and fresh flatbread. Everything here tastes fresh and well-prepared, with distinct textures and aromatic flavors. The signature entrées come with two cold appetizers. The hummus is silky smooth, a velvety blend of garbanzo beans and tahini that almost melts in your mouth. The baba ghanouj is creamy, garlicky, and finished with olive oil. The tabbouleh is bright and balanced with lemon juice, garlic, and a generous drizzle of olive oil that ties together the citrusy and earthy flavors. The restaurant itself is clean, with tables and chairs wiped down quickly after guests leave. Service is friendly, welcoming, and helpful when placing orders. Prices are also reasonable, especially considering many competing Mediterranean restaurants do not place the same emphasis on presentation or on creating a mezze-style dining experience at no additional cost. While some may prefer other Mediterranean cuisines, I personally enjoy the fresh, light, and diverse flavors that Lebanese food offers. Golden Grill's citrus-forward dishes and extensive mezze options make it one of my favorite Mediterranean spots.

The food runner came back and brought a side dish of peppers and a side dish of pickled beets. Our server then comes out and asks whose tab he should put that on. We were a little confused because they didn't mention it would he a charge and she only asked for 1 extra not an entire bowl + a bowl of something she didn't ask for. But she took the charge and it was about $5 combined for both, a charge that wasn't prefaced beforehand. Nonetheless, the food was amazing and our server was very sweet. Good service and Great, delicious lunch! Highly recommended!
