stopped by for dinner on a saturday night. the food was superb! had the shawarma salad with beef, hummus and falafel appetizers. everything was so flavorful and good. there were also sauces: garlic, spicy garlic and spicy. tried the spicy garlic and spicy - wasn't a fan of either. the spicy sauce reminded me of vietnamese tương ớt. the service was good. it was us and another table so the waiter was attentive, checking in on us and offering sauces. there was more take out orders than dine in. unfortunately, the ambiance was lackluster. the tables and chairs were kind of flimsy, it was a little cold inside the restaurant. not the best dining environment but the food and service more than make up for it. read more

I went to get the lunch special chicken shawarma wrap that comes with fries and a drink, and it was such a great value for the price. The wrap itself was huge, I was able to split it between 2 meals. It was nice and hot and absolutely delicious. The fries is also a good portion, and I was also able to split those. They were seasoned well and a little addicting. The shop was empty when I went, but it was around 2pm on a Wednesday so maybe just a little slow at the time. The workers were super nice though and the shop itself was very clean and tidy. I did wait a little long for my food even though I called to order ahead, but I wasn't in a rush AND they made it up to me by giving me some baklava to take home. Overall, more people should definitely check them out for some solid Mediterranean food. read more

Was really disappointed. Read that this place had the best Mediterranean food in Fresno but we were really disappointed. We ordered 2 waters and a tea to drink and was only served 1 drink: the tea, which didn't come out quick enough. I think the guy didn't know what he was doing because our table also did not have any utensils or napkins. We assumed we would be given them when the food came out. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

We were craving Mediterranean food and decided to check this place out. Olive Tree has been in business a little over a year. The entire family loved it! First off, service was great. The gentlemen working there were super attentive, ensuring we were satisfied with our meal and checking in to see if we needed anything else. The thing we appreciated the most was the pita bread. It was thin but opened to make the perfect pocket for our food. Most places, the pita bread is thick and fills us up quickly. The meat was seasoned to perfection. You can tell they marinated the meat thoroughly and at the right length of time. Humus and rice were delicious. The unanimous family favorite was the salad. It was packed with cucumbers, tomatoes, sliced green squash, and the dressing-packed with flavor! It is a casual atmosphere, with plenty of space if you have a larger party. The staff is very accommodating. We are definitely returning. read more

Excited for this new Mediterranean restaurant so close to my home, but it was a miss for me. Pros: ample seating, bright atmosphere The baklava was pretty good- each bite had a nice crunch. Cons: the food was bland, not flavorful. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma, the chicken was a chicken tender....and it's described as "marinated shawarma meat". It was accompanied with 2 sauces, one sauce was a bit runny and watery. The fries were bland as well. I like my fries on the crispier side, so if you like your fries not crispy this place may be for you. I originally ordered the Basbousa for a dessert, apparently they don't make this dessert everyday, and they asked if we wanted the baklava instead.... Which is fine the baklava was good, but the cost of the baklava was a cheaper, and we were not offered to have an extra garlic sauce or pita etc. or be reimbursed for the difference. read more

This is by far the best Mediterranean food that I have had. The beef kebab was flavorful and juicy, the rice pilaf was fluffy and full of flavor. Best Mediterranean food I've had so far and would definitely recommend it. My husband and I are foodies and we both agreed that the food was amazingly BOMB!!!! Their MuTabal is to die for! Perfect flavors and texture. I ordered the vegetarian platter which is only 4 food items which for the price is a little disappointing but the food is good. The falafel and hummus were good. I wouldn't say this place is better than other Mediterranean restaurants in Fresno but it's a good option for classic Mediterranean food. It's a casual setting and there's plenty of tables but both times we went we were the only ones there so the service was very personal. read more

Seen this place on Instagram and the photos looked good so I decided to give it a try. I ordered a chicken shawarma plate (which comes with chicken, rice, side salad, and side of hummus) and a side of pita bread. I was told it would be about 15 minutes. I came back around 20-25 minutes later and was told there was a mistake with my order so that it would be an additional 10 minutes. They were apologetic and gave some free baklava for the trouble. The young man who helped me then offered me their assortment of sauces and they were all yummy! Portions were large and everything had a really good flavor to it. So even though there was a delay with my order, they made it right and the food ended up being worth the wait. :) read more

10/29/24 Hot & New!! Must try!! Getting lunch!! Really nice restaurant! Lots of seating. Tables and chairs and a little bar-like set up by the register. The worker was Great! Happy to give recommendations. I ended up getting their Chicken Shawarma Wrap with 1/2 salad/ 1/2 rice instead of fries. He even let me sample their Yalanji(stuffed green leaves!) (Wow!! Delicious!!) while waiting for order to be ready. His favorite! I know why! =p Small wait. Low key, Great restaurant with music playing. Received order a little bit later with thank yous! Great!! Lunchtime! You get A LOT of food!! Lots of leftovers!! Falafel is Great!! Really tasty and the sauce included compliments it perfectly! Mashallah some of the best Arabic food in town, my fiancé mentioned this is the best falafel she's ever had and I felt the shawarma fries were amazing. Live right next to this place for awhile but haven't ever tried it until tonight! Went for a pickup order and it made me regret never coming here in the first place!! My boyfriend has been on the hunt for a good shawarma and hasn't been pleased until we got theirs! Food was warm and fresh and decent portions for your moneys worth! I wanted to try a new place and in researching, this seemed like a great option. We will not return. Service staff were friendly but not great otherwise. Refill on my drink was never offered, even though I drained it and it was on the edge of the table. The food took a while to make it to the table, which, if it had been great, could be forgiven...but it wasn't and it won't. Babaganouch was good, as was the hummus...but I swear they drizzled it with vegetable oil. Olive oil is greenish or yellow...the oil used was pretty much clear and didn't have a flavor. This was especially obvious with the fatoush. The meat was flavorful but way overcooked. The kafta was actually crispy in several parts. I don't understand how rice that is so colorful can have so little taste. The garlic sauce could have been a saving grace but it didn't even have a garlic flavor, it was like bland mayo. We had leftovers and we did not take them with us. There are a lot of places superior to this one around Fresno. Find one of them. read more

Alisa is the best! Our server had such great suggestions and the service was outstanding! Now for the food; fantastic! I had the chicken kabob plate as did my friend. Wife had beef with hummus (picky eater, so nothing but beef and hummus). All were very good. The rice is not your average pilaf like you get at the store. Bright flavor that doesn't overwhelm your palate. For dessert we had the Basbousa, to die for!!! read more

The food was pretty good, service was decent but extremely slow. We waited over 45 minutes or more for the food to be served . They were extremely rushed and seemed very unorganized. Some people were there before our party and still were waiting for their food when we were half way through. I can't unfortunately recommend this place because I got food poisoning. 30 minute wait for a "chicken" bowl that had 4 little chicken nuggets. Chicken that was in the bowl was dry, rice was gross. After tax and a side of hummus it was $17. I threw it away and cooked dinner. While waiting for the food the place was about 80 degrees inside. I don't like trashing small businesses but this place better change something or they aren't going to make it. read more

Unfortunately, our most recent visit completely changed how I feel about this restaurant. Our waitress was Brenda (a middle-aged Caucasian woman with glasses). I want to be clear about who served us because my receipt also listed the name Brenda, and I would hate for another employee to receive this review by mistake. We were seated fairly quickly even though it was a very busy night and the restaurant was full. I want to say upfront that I completely respect how hard servers work, and I understand busy nights happen. However, after sitting for quite a while without anyone taking our order, I politely told Brenda that we were ready. I am diabetic and was not feeling well, so the wait was starting to affect me. Her response was, "Sorry, we're really busy tonight and there are only three of us waitressing." I understood that they might be short staffed, but at the very least she could have taken our drink order. Instead, she continued cleaning tables and serving other customers. I watched four different tables get seated after us and receive drinks, salads, and appetizers before we even placed our order. As someone who has been coming here for years, I have never felt so uncomfortable or overlooked in this restaurant. In 2026, no customer should feel that way anywhere. When our food finally came, everything arrived at once -- our hummus, salad, and entrée -- which made the experience feel rushed and poorly handled. When I asked Brenda for more napkins, she never returned to our table. We eventually had to go to the register ourselves to pay because she never brought our check. Before leaving, I explained to her how the situation made me feel. She responded with several explanations about being busy and short staffed, but that was never the real issue. The issue was the way we were treated. She forgot who we were all night but when it came to pay my tab, she definitely knew what table we were sitting at because her response was. I'll get your tab for table 3.. The food was amazing as it has always been, but sadly the service we received completely ruined the experience. After nearly nine years of coming here, this will unfortunately be my last visit.
