With Apple refusing to even look at a water damaged phone - I immediately took my 'DOA' phone to emergency. In this case "Zac's Quick Fix Phone Hut" in San Jose. He took apart the phone and air dried the copious amount of water in and around the components that Apple repair would not deal with. He suggested to leave the phone overnight and give it time to thoroughly dry. Some 18 hours later the phone came back to life. Zero data loss. No factory reset or cursed iOS update. I needed a battery replacement for my Apple Watch and paid a $20 deposit, and was told that the battery would arrive in 3-4 days. After 5 days, I called and was told it hadn't arrived. Ten days later, I still hadn't received any update, so I reached out again and was told the battery had arrived, but no one had contacted me. Zac also said he couldn't find the battery and would call me back after locating it. Three days passed with no follow-up. When I called again, Zac confirmed he had the battery and that I could come in. By this point, it had been 18 days since I was originally told 3-4 days, and I never received a single call or update despite being told I would. I ended up requesting a refund of my $20 deposit. The total repair cost was quoted at $80 (unclear if the deposit was included), which is about the same price as going through the Apple Store, where the work is guaranteed. I prefer to support small businesses, but unfortunately, the lack of communication and delays made this experience not worth it. read more
