My technician Jesse over at The Cheap Squad spent many hours across 4 sessions to get it fixed. During this entire time, he was extremely communicative and helpful, letting me know all the things he was trying alongside the status of the machine. He also gave me a lot of excellent tips on how to take better care of my computer. Had a Asus G14 that was not turning on. Ended up being a motherboard problem that would cost $600+ to repair. Decided to not repair the laptop as it wasn't worth that much. When I asked specifically what was wrong, they couldn't tell me anything beyond, "we tried different chargers and disconnecting the battery" and "motherboard issue" which is what I already knew having done it myself. Not sure if it was worth the $45 "diagnostic fee" given trying different chargers and disconnecting the battery takes less than 10 minutes and I didn't receive any additional information other than the generic "it's a motherboard issue". However, staff is nice, communicated updates and they held the laptop for over a month as I was too busy to pick it up. read more

Okay so I have to be honest I did not actually get to come here because my laptop magically started working again, BUT they definitely deserve 5 stars for their AMAZING customer service. I called earlier in the day to ask about security issues with leaving my laptop there for two business days. (I knew someone who went through hell because some tech people "repairing" her laptop stole personal and private info.) The worker on the phone not only reassured me that that would not ever be permitted but told me that to ease my discomfort he would remove the hard drive and give it to me while they had it!!! It seems small but it meant a lot that this staff member (I really wish I could remember his name!) would take the time to explain everything to me and make me as comfortable as I could possibly be. They provided excellent service and were honest about the expected cost of the service and even though, based on their expected repair cost breakdown, we had agreed that it was not worthwhile to repair the laptop, the staff was extremely helpful and offered to remove the HDD for free for me. The service staff member, Jesse, was extremely helpful in this regard and provided clear and insightful information about our options, and likely costs. He even guided me as to what hard drive enclosure I should buy to continue using the HDD that he had removed on my other laptops. Therefore, even though I did not become a customer this time per se (although I have been a prior customer), the excellent service was helpful and I will surely return for future needs. My MacBook decided not to work and after perusing comp repair places near my work, I decided to give this place a try since they looked pretty easy to get to for me and the website/yelp info resonated with me with regard to my small business service preferences. When I arrived I noticed they had a COVID safety response plan set up & in place, which with the current climate is nice not having to really worry so much about. The guy Jesse who helped me throughout this thing was knowledgeable, professional and courteous each interaction. I don't have a strong tech background, so I appreciated that he took the time to hear me out and didn't try talk over me or come off assuming he knew what what I was going to say. He was clear and easy to talk to as he walked me through the situation and what I should expect. Didn't try to up sell me or rope me into a "perpetual fix" by suggesting something that would only getting half the job done. I was told when to expect word after they'd had time to look into things and they'd actually got back to me sooner. I was walked through the work they did, why, what they uncovered, and had all my questions answered clearly. After I was briefed I was offered various options that could accommodate my situation. Since my MacBook is an older model, I'd asked about options outside of them working on it and he was 100% gracious about it giving me really solid feedback & suggestions. I decided to just take my laptop home and do some more research on my own before moving forward. I didn't get any push back or sour tones or anything like that. Now that I've had time to do my own research after their assessment, which I paid nothing for, I'm going to bring it back and have them finish the job. If I could give zero stars, I would. After reading very good reviews on Yelp about this place, I took my desktop computer to them. It had issues with powering on. I had already checked that the power cord was in, and other common sense factors. They looked at it and I picked it up the same day. They told me that it was working and that it was fine. I brought it home and in less than half an hour after using it, the problem happened again. I went out to Office Depot, bought a new power cord and connected it. Presto... the problem went away. You'd think that they would have used a couple of different power cords to test my computer as a matter of common sense! I'm not one of the high-flying Silicon Valley gazillionaires, so I can ill afford to lose $150! I will NEVER go there again or recommend that anyone else do either. read more

As weird as that may sound, I'm just mind blown that I got such great service from Jesse at a repair shop. As someone who works for a cell phone provider I always hear horror stories from people visiting repair shops so I was very surprised when I stepped in and got awesome advice and assistance. Unfortunately, Jesse wasn't able to help me with a complicated issue that I came in with (which I understand because it was more automotive) but he went above and beyond to help me open up a screw that I had ruined and give me a solution to a problem which consisted of recommending me to a location that specializes in motherboards. Although I wish I could've brought business to Cheap Squad, I'm glad they were able to do what needed to be done and point me a different direction. I love the people who work here. Every person I've interacted with have been so lovely and helpful. I've been in IT and tech for over 20 years and can say that these guys are amazing! Knowledgeable, great attitudes, and no one made me feel dumb which always sucks when working with tier 2 helpdesk support. They fixed my mac and it wasn't pretty. Bad hard drive and lotsa lost data and files. However these guys were able to save as much as possible and were so nice about it, especially when delivering the hard news that I lost 6 years of writing. After we had a mix up with the name on the owner user account, they fixed it for me even after it took me 4 weeks to bring it back in and didn't charge me. I wanted to get them a lunch treat for them but the taco place next door doesn't do gift cards! These guys are so genuine. I will be sending something as a thank you! Great place for getting your pc/ laptop to get work done. I have had the cheap squad do work at least 3 or 4 times. Always very happy and explains things very well. This time my internet connection wouldn't work because of a update. Jesse did everything he could to make it cheap and easy, but had to uninstall and reinstall operating system. All in all 185.
