Me and my family love coming to sky's the limit and have been coming here for souvenirs for over 7+ years.I do miss the fact that they aren't located in downtown Pismo but that just allows me to venture off towards the Pismo beach outlet area and let my kids do their souvenir shopping. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable and have suggested toys or gifts that I wouldn't have noticed by myself just perusing .My kids collect marbles so we love to come here to see all the new merch. Which is definitely better than just purchasing online. Definitely be back the next time I'm in town. read more

Popped in here today to look at all the fun, curious, and whimsical "presents". So much color, so much FUN. They are the absolute Central Coasts Experts on kites & kite flying. I bought a Synapse a couple of years ago & it's been fabulous! Kites come in prices ranging from affordable to extravagant. They have some beach paraphernalia too but don't miss the whoopy cushions, cards, games, dolls, lots of cool marbles, garden flags, fun socks, and tons of other stuff. I didn't take many photos but I did get these. Friendly, helpful staff, all in holiday spirit. Masks required. Just wish I had a picture of my kite in flight! We stopped in here about a week ago during our Pismo Beach vacation specifically because we wanted to buy kites. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They showed my kids all different types of kites, and gave us great advice on what kites would work best for our relatively small and new to kite-flying kiddos. I wish I had reviewed earlier, because now I've unfortunately forgotten their names, but both employees made us feel incredibly welcomed. Customer service was top notch. They have nice memorable trinkets there. The customer service is old school. They follow minorities around and continually insinuate that we are all thief's. Every step we make they follow. They seem to be on a step count switch where for every step we make they form a blockage towards the door. This makes total sense because as an adult I would definitely steal their stuffed animals over the more valuable items. A lady specifically kept urging me to leave items on the desk and every time I picked something up she would magically be there to show me how it all works. I am employed. I paid $105 for two stuffed animals and a football. For my two kids. I could easily spend this on Amazon and destroy small business' I am writing with hopes you change your attitude towards individuals and if theft is a high priority fix it accordingly because the staff is pushing minorities with money to spend away. read more

I love the new store in the shopping center. The people are incredibly nice. I've been a few times now and recently took my 6-yr old grandson there. He was able to touch the toys, try most of them out and got to spend time to choose what he wanted- which was bow and arrow set. The arrow was a padded ball at the end. He loves it as well as the entire family. I read reviews about people being followed because they thought that they were targeted because they were racist. I think that they just need to keep an eye out in case you have questions. They are there to help you. Support your local family owned business. This place is great! read more

I visited the store with my 13-year-old granddaughter on a recent trip to Pismo beach. From the moment we enter the store we were followed around by who I presume was the store owner. Everywhere I went, there she was. It was mid morning and we were hoping to find some fun things and possibly gifts for family back home. This was very offputting. Neither one of us partake in shoplifting, but I was made to feel like that was how we were being classified. Why else would a store employee/owner follow our every move. I was asked repeatedly if there was anything she could help me with, and I told her no every time, I just wanted to browse. We found what we wanted and left. In all the other stores we visited in Pismo Beach no one else treated us in this manner. Just be aware that you to might be followed in this store. It's not a good feeling. read more

An older white woman that worked there came up to me right when I had picked up a toy and asked "are you going to buy that?" She asked me twice. I was shocked and completely uncomfortable. The audacity to think that I need to steal a flea market toy from your store. I'm telling all my family and friends so they never step foot in your business again. RUDE!!!!!! I was there with our three kids 5, 3 and 1. They blocked us at EVERY aisle acting as though we were stealing until I called her out on it and she said "no I'm just walking my store". BS! This shop is great! Definitely well equipped with just about everything and anything you'd want to take for a fun day at the beach with the little ones. Sunscreen? Check. Sunglasses? Check. Frisbees? Check. Plastic bucket and shovel? Check. Salt water taffy?? Double check. And best of all, they've got an extraordinary selection of kites. From the 5 dollar ones, all of the way up to deluxe 300 dollar kites. The staff that we encountered were super friendly and helpful also. Quick word of advice though, careful bringing your little ones in here - they'll never want to leave. And once u set foot in here, you'll totally understand why. Great little shop. This is one of the many shopping places abounding by the beach, which sells toys, kites and oh so much more. Parking is street only which can be mostly non-existent after 10 am ish, so any of the nearby beach related parking may be much more of a sure thing especially as, lets face it you are most likely here for the beach anyway. This is a larger store and the stock is more or less logically divided into sections-I.E. all the kites, outdoorsy stuff, wine items, souvenir items and whatnot all in their respective sections. That does not mean there is no overlap, especially with clothing. Tshirts are with whatever matches their theme closest, ditto for books. They are kind of a catch all shop-much more then just toys although they do have those in spades. They've really kind of got something for everyone, especially in the tourist gift type department, and a better then you might think stock of kites. Always worth a browse for the casual visitor. read more

I went in hoping for a brown chihuahua wind spinner (which they had) on our trip today. I met the owner, Jason, who was very welcoming when we arrived and super duper helpful in explaining kites to me. I bought the wind spinner and almost bought this awesome squishy ball with a net around it. They are very nice here, love their business, their customers, and especially dogs. read more

I have a very hard time shopping at any store where they are unable to stand behind what they are selling. Our 12 year old wanted to try the bacon frosting they sell. She spent $6.50 on this product hoping to use it on cookies. Sadly the flavor was not even close to bacon or frosting. She was misled by the packaging and felt it was too gross to use. She went back to the store and they refused to give her a refund or store credit. Really? They could have just returned it to their supplier for their money back. It is a horrible product they are peddling and then tell the customer they are stuck with it. That is bad business. We had bought toys in there for our five kids they three days prior but will not go back. We tried to support a local store but we will only shop at places that care about customer satisfaction. One more reason to use Amazon, sadly. Prices are way too high here but could have overlooked that if they had good business practices. read more

Very disappointed due to profiling. My husband and son purchased rubberband/slingshot type of gun on a Sunday. The plastic piece had broke so they went back the following day to exchange it (My husband initially could not find his receipt). The woman with short blond hair had already profiled us as shoplifters when we tried to exchange it. (a different lady sold the toy gun to my husband the previous day). She rudely stated: this gun had not been sold since January 2017! Based on her tone, she was accusing us of stealing it. My husband asked if she can look up the purchase by credit card number with the date. The woman still assumed we were scamming. Not cool. Fortunately, my husband dug deeper into his coat pocket and found the receipt. The woman began smiling and further tells us that the person who rung us up had charged us the "more expensive toy gun (which explains why it didn't match inventory)." So, of course, she starts going on saying things to save face: 1) "good thing you found your receipt because the person who rung you up sold you the more expensive one. Now you guys are getting money back" 2) "now i won't have to go look at the cameras to see when you guys came yesterday. really????" Never again will we go back. They need to treat people equally. read more

Overdue review, and thanks to the owner. Here's my story of my experience with the store and owner. We had been at the beach the day before and my 7 year old daughter's kite had been broken (by me). A cheap hollow rod had splintered and made the kite unusable. If there was a trash can near by, it wouldve been tossed. There wasn't, so it went in my trunk. The next day, we were walking around town like tourists because we were. We walked into the store at first not even knowing that it had so many kites, they just had cool things that would attract just about anyone. I was walking around checking prices and considering replacing the kite, and the owner came and have me the standard "did you have any questions?". I explained I was just looking and told him what happened. He asked if I still had the kite, he would take a look at it and might have something in his spare parts in the back. It was worth a shot, so I trekked back to my car and returned with the now wadded up kite. He got down on the floor and started untangling and inspecting. He said he would see if he could do anything and disappeared into the back. After about 10 minutes he came back with the kite in perfect condition, and had replaced the rod after cutting one to fit. In fact, it was a much sturdier piece. My cost when I asked how much? 75 CENTS he told the lady at the register. I should mention that the entire time we were in the store, it was packed with shoppers. Original cost of kite on Amazon = $20 Cost to repair what I was sure was trash = $0.75 Making my daughter happy and reinforcing my belief in small businesses and the old school, small town, customer service = PRICELESS. This store and the owner has such an eclectic selection of gifts, toys, novelties, kites, and too many other things to list. Literally a gift store where you can find something for anyone, for any occasion. So, overdue but not forgotten is my experience and thanks to the owner that Sunday. It's reassuring to me to see that pure and sincere good will. I wish you much continued and well deserved success. You have the "stuff" it takes to outlast the big box stores and ".com's" as you're already proving. Next time we come to town, we'll be sure to come say hi. Stay gold. read more

I don't typically write reviews (this is my first). However, I felt the need to do so after last weekend. I was in this store on on Saturday 3/16/19. I witnessed something that made me absolutely sick. I watched an employee treat a fellow employee with complete disrespect...for no good reason that I could tell. The cashier was a young girl who must be new because I have been in quite a few times and new seen her before. She made a small error on the register and asked for help to fix it. The guy that came over seemed to be the manager. (I think I heard someone call him Jason in the past) He proceeded to treat the girl like an idiot. Shaming her right in front of the customer. I felt so bad for the girl. I feel bad that she has to work in an environment like that. I hope the owners see this review and have a talk about respect with that guy! The ladies are smart on what is a good kite for age and skill

Very rude people that work there. Planned on buying a few things but after my experience we just walked out. My son had a rubber band gun we came back to the store to buy. We stopped by earlier in the day and returned to make purchases. He was walking in the store with the gun we were buying while I was picking up a wind chime I liked. We were going to pay and leave. The lady came up to my son and said "put the gun back" my son was confused and a bit scared. I turned around and asked the lady what happened she said she told him to put the gun back. Not exactly sure why? A lady who was also In the store said she was rude to my son before I turned around or heard her. I grabbed my husband and left and the other customer did too. She said she didn't want to do business there. Not kid friendly there. Surprising since their are toys galore. Cheap over priced stuff. My son cried as he was told he could have the toy gun and was confused by it all. We had a great conversation about supporting good kind business people. read more

Stopped in this shop this weekend while visiting Pismo. The lady that was working was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the kites my husband was looking at. She gave him a general overview of the dual string kites and made a few suggestions. She then let us look at the kites ourselves. My husband decided on the kite he wanted and we went to the counter to pay. The lady working gave my husband several tips on how best to fly the kite. The customer service she provided was exceptional and we will be back to shop when we make it to Pismo. read more

They also do special orders where you can look through their catalogue and choose your own flag, windsock, whirligig or anything they don't have already in the store. John and Theresa at The Sky's the Limit made for a wonderful experience for my fiance and I. We stopped in this stop on a complete whim and after wandering aimlessly, enjoying all of the fun toys, we found ourselves in the kite section. John and Theresa kindly (and not at all intrusively) let us know that they were available to help with any questions we might have...not initially planning on getting a kite, we initially brushed off their offer, but then decided "Why not try one out?" We asked John to answer some questions and he could not have been more helpful. He efficiently, passionately, and not at all "salesman-ly" gave us the explanations we needed to make an informed decision about a kite. He then spent some time giving us some pointers in the store about how to set up and handle the kite, and even said that if he were available, he would have loved to take us out for some training!
