This is a wonderful new family owned and run restaurant that is a welcome culinary addition to downtown Schenectady. The cuisine is a combination of Greek and Middle Eastern. My daughter and I had lunch here on a Saturday. There are a wide variety of choices and vegetarians can do very well here as can vegans. We ordered Baba Galoush and Pita as an appetizer. The pita was fresh and warm! The eggplant was delicately flavored, smooth, and exceptional. I could eat it everyday. We ordered two bowls: One was Lamb Kabob One was Chicken There are a wide variety of choices to top your bowl and several different sauces. I had the lamb, and it was outstanding. It was flavorful from being marinated and incredibly tender! Best ever! I had brown rice and many toppings including a grape leave, olives, chick peas, chopped tomatoes/ red onion, hummus, picked cabbage, feta, and cucumbers. Delicious! It was drizzled with my choice of the signature white sauce. My daughter raved about the Chicken Bowl. She ordered a slice of the Chocolate Dubai Cake to bring home. Light fills the restaurant in the daytime. The decor very attractive and uncluttered. The restaurant has a large dining area with regular and high top tables plus barrel back chairs in a sitting area. It is very comfortable and spacious. And spotless. The food was delicious. In two words: absolutely wonderful. The food was amazing. I would attach an image, but I was too engrossed to take one. Juicy, well seasoned chicken, with pleasantly spiced rice, along with fresh and delicious toppings. The service was excellent. Even though it was chipotle style ordering, I felt cared for beyond a typical walk up restaurant. We were served by very kind, friendly, and thoughtful workers. The venue itself was a cherry on top. The decorations, large windows, and fireplace on the TV, fostered a classy, yet homey environment. I have to say, I was quite impressed. All in all, this place was extraordinary. Got a late night Saturday dinner from Zaffron Kitchen and it did not disappoint. We ordered hummus with pita, a Zaffron chicken burger and a chicken kabob over rice with a side salad and a slice of pita. Good flavor, sufficient portions and satisfying. The restaurant itself is bright and airy, clean and contemporary. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. A wonderful new addition to Schenectady. read more

The food was amazing. The service was better than some sit down restaurants, because I think the manager in a gray shirt was nice enough to come over and take our order (group of 8). He even drought out our drinks, this is self service. I would definitely come here again, and I will be recommending this to others. I've been here several times - sometimes just my spouse and I, sometimes i a small group. After the 2nd time, the folks behind the counter recognized us, and out food allergies, ensuring that there would be no issues. My spouse loves the falafel, and I am a lamb guy. I've had the kabobs (which are perfect), but I keep going back to the lamb shank and Kabuli rice. Always more rice than I can finish (so leftovers!) and the lamb is falling-off-of -the-bone tender and exquisite. Sure it isn't medium rare, but I prefer it well-done anyway. Friends have gotten the desserts as to-go and say they are very good, but I never have enough room left to think about it. read more

Consistently yummy food. Have had the lamb gyro, chicken sandwich, chicken gyro, chicken salad, and lamb chops - all really good. I feel like it's a good value as well. Would make the trek to the Latham location occasionally and now very happy to have a closer location to go to. read more

This was our third or fourth time at Zaffron. Their food is excellent! Today it was falafel and a chicken kabob plate and a roasted eggplant dish, badenjan, for an appetizer. Last time it was bolanee, kadoo---a delicious butternut squash dish, and a butternut and red lentil soup. Flavors just pop! It seems as if most everything is freshly prepared but it doesn't take more than 10 minutes to get your food. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. It was Saturday around 4:00-4:30 and I had promised to take my mother to Simone's kitchen after I took her shopping in Albany. We rushed back to get to the restaurant before 6, which I believe is the time they are scheduled to close. Was not meant to be, when we got there, they were already locking up and turning customers away with no explanation. We got back in the car and started to drive around, and came across Zaffron Kitchen's grand opening. They had a very nice outdoor space with music playing on the patio. My mother ordered and beef gyro. She thought it was good, and she is not easy to please. I ordered the fired fish wrap and selected my toppings. I was not sure baba ganoush and tzatziki would work together, but I really liked it. I had gotten fried fish at Angkors Fish House a month or two ago, and I thought the fish sandwich here was definitely better. My mother ate half her gyro and took the rest home. I asked for an extra tzatziki to go, and they gladly gave two to go with a smile. Staff was friendly, particularly the gentleman that seemed to be that manager.
