They use to be a great shop. But since the original co-owner's son took over operations, it went down hill. Not only in workmanship, but customer service. A few years ago they replaced the brakes. They never worked right. They squealed at low speeds like when backing out of the driveway. The worst part is they locked up if I had to brake fast, or in a dip in the road. Over the last year I noticed the grabbing increase, and the car would vibrate going down a hill with the brakes on, and on the freeway. I finally found a TDI shop closer to where I live, and they said the front brakes are totally warped. $500+ just to do the front ones. I also had an issue with the CV joints needing replacing once or twice, but ended up also having to replace the whole axle. Which should have been done in the first place. read more

I highly advise you do your research on auto repair before entrusting your car to this repair shop. They quoted me $3000 to repair and replace a water pump on a BMW and tried to tell me this was a 14-hour job. After conducting my own research, and consulting a family member who has been working on cars for more than 20 years and is now Vice President of an established EV company, I learned the replacement should take no more than 8 to 10 hours and I found the water pump for sale for $200. If you factor service at $120 an hour with the cost of the part, the job should cost no more than $1500 max. They are a scam and trying to charge BMW Service Center prices. On another occasion, they tried to charge me $400 to have the sunroof tracks cleaned. I called BMW Service in Bellevue and they quoted me the exact same price. So why would I not go to BMW where they use all original parts and factory trained technicians. I no longer trust this business. Do your research before you spend any money with them. They have a superiority complex that makes them think they are equal to BMW Service Centers. They're not. They take advantage of people who have money to burn and know nothing about cars. Don't accept the first offer. Do your research. You're more than likely to save money if you do and find someone who is actually honest. read more

I took my car in for a $100 000 mile checkup at Toyota, Kirkland. My Toyota's radiator was leaking, and I needed also a rattle repair. I always go to Toyota Kirkland for service because I trusted them. However, their bad customer service and hideous estimations took me by surprise. Toyota estimated my Rattle repair cost: $995.00 and the leaking radiator repair was $2000. I have had a radiator problem before with another car, so I knew that this estimation was nowhere reasonable. The rattle repair is a minor issue, even if it has rust, which was at Toyota, Kirkland, hideously overcharged. However, I did not know any Toyota repair shops in my area, therefore my friend called his auto shop for advice. They recommended ZahnTech Automotive Service, Redmond, WA. The personnel there is very nice to talk to and the customer service is beyond 5 stars. I explained that I needed an inspection for my Toyota; they offered to help me immediately. They assessed the same issues as Toyota Kirkland, my car was repaired in a day, and the final invoice was significantly less than Toyota's estimation. They had put on the wrong pads and I had to bring the car back - no apologies at all. Fast-forward to today, my car is at the Honda dealership and they're showing me that my breaks are dead! My old Honda Civic's battery drained overnight several times. Since it's a less than 2 year old battery, I suspected there was a parasitic draw in the electric system. They performed a parasitic draw test for the car and didn't find there was such issue. But they found the connection to battery terminals were loose, causing the battery not getting charged very well. So they fixed it, and charged me with a minimum labor cost of $60. A month after driving the car out of their shop, the battery never drains again. I feel they are honest and professional. read more

I own a 1980 Honda and have taken it to several shops in the Seattle/Redmond area, Zahntech was by far the best. (most of the time I either get the response, "Woah, this thing is old!" or they don't have techs that are familiar working with Hondas from the 80's) When it died unexpectedly, one of their technicians drove over to my work to see if he could diagnose the problem so I wouldn't have to pay for a tow. I also took it in later on for some replacement work and they were courteous and super fast. The owner (?) also refilled my power steering fluid when it was low and just let me take the rest of the bottle with me so I didn't have to go buy my own. My car had had components below it stolen (literally power-sawed out) which made it drive very loudly and unpleasantly. I brought it into Zahntech to be looked at in December, which they said they'd get around to looking at, ordering parts, and fixing exactly by the time I got back. The precise week before I'd need it back, I decided to check back, as they hadn't given me a single call since I had brought the car in. When I called, I realized they had mistyped my phone number, and were waiting for my input on whether I wanted to get a refurbished or factory-fresh component for the car. I decided to go with refurbished since that'd be faster. The next day, they call me up to tell me they had received the part and utterly underestimated how much needed to be replaced (a bolder alternative to the "measure twice cut once" methodology: "measure nonce order once"). They were able to refer me over to another place in Kirkland that would get it done cheaper and sooner, then charged me about 80$ for an oxygen filter - I'm not actually sure where it is though, if they put it in the car, installed it into the car's parts, or if they just sent it over to the other place, but the phrasing I heard made it sound like I'd have to hand it over? I searched my entire car for the piece and couldn't find it. In any case, they were polite and economically minded for me, so that's a big plus in my eyes. read more
