I'd walked by this boutique 100 times and never stopped in until a few weeks ago. I was kicking myself for waiting so long to check it out because it's a true gem. They carry a broad range of items, both in terms of styles and price points (e.g., ranging from Steve Madden to Zadig and Voltaire and everything in between). They also carry a ton of jewelry, accessories, candles and more. It's the type of place where you could easily spend a solid hour sorting through the racks to find hidden treasures. They make great use of the relatively small space, which is awesome in terms of having so many options to choose from, though it can be a little difficult to sift through the tightly-packed clothing. Thankfully the staff is very friendly and will help you find whatever it is you may need. One thing to keep in mind is that they have a seven-day return policy, and returns are for store credit only. P.S. Zahra is also a hair salon. I haven't had my hair done here, but what a fun idea to get glammed up from head to toe in one store. read more

She has moved to Lafayette but I hope the Lamorinda women will be alerted that she is a 2nd rate salon before they waste their money. I've had Shila cut my hair twice now and loved both cuts. The visit to the salon is always a very relaxing experience. The salon is easy to find with a free parking lot next to the building. Street parking is metered so if you're parking on the street, read the meter's hours carefully. The boutique is set up with clothes in the front, a nail station set up and the hair salon in the back. The clothes selection is great - haven't bought anything yet because I'm usually running off after the hair appt but I love what they carry. The interior is super cute with very chic decorations. I think it's just Shila and her Mom doing the hair. On my recent visit, I didn't have any ideas for what to do with my hair and asked for her advice. She told me what looks good on me and gave me some suggestions. The first cut was a great cut and it grew long nicely. I think it had been almost 8 months between appts and it didn't look too neglected. She gives me great cuts with layers and texture. She always offers me hot tea too - such a nice touch! I'm so glad I found this place. The shop is beautifully decorated. The owner is so sweet! She offered me water and tea. Although I was not up for the tea today- the cups they are served in is darling. Enough about other stuff- let's talk hair! Zahra did an amazing job with my hair. Last year I decided to go short hair from my usually long layers. The place I had it cut in Seattle was amazing. Then I moved back to California. Had a bad bad haircut .. I was treated with tea and nuts and a yummy soup while waiting for my hair to process. I also got a Mani/pedi from Tiffany while waiting. Really over priced especially because she doesn't even do a good job with hair cuts. She pressures you into getting other things done which is also over priced. She pressured me into getting a retouch on my hair, which is light brown base and blonde highlights. She did not make it clear to me that she was just going to do the base. one and a half inch of dying and a trim cost me about 110 dollars. REALLY NOT WORTH IT. I was really dissappointed because Zahra did my hair about three years ago, and it was AMAZING. She died my base a medium brown with highlights, and haircut. Amazingly wonderful, will be back with my entire family. My daughter has had long hair basically forever, and we have only gotten it cut once to fix her own "self haircut" when she was 4. I was more nervous than my daughter, and Sheila is wonderful, fit us in the same day, and was both very fast and amazingly adept. She braided my 13 year old's hair in a long braid and cut it off so we could send it to "Locks of Love". She was a true artist with my daughter's very thick wavy hair, and now her hair is amazing. She went to school the next day and almost every female teacher asked where she had gone because they wanted the same style. Both boys and girls commented on how good her hair looked, and still does. It is an amazingly effortless style, and just falls into place -- which is an incredibly difficult hair style to achieve. Many places push all their expensive hair products, but I can say there was no pressure whatsoever to buy her higher quality and very well priced products. Maybe next time, when our supplies need replenishing -- I have a go-to place for good hair products. She immediately offered tea and water -- I had the lovely fragrant tea with honey, and my daughter had water, but was initially too nervous to drink it! The shop is beautiful, and she sells very good quality clothing. I have never felt more immediately home in a place. I will be back with my youngest daughter this next week! I got my eyebrows threaded here......BIG MISTAKE! The woman who did the threading didn't know what the hell she was doing at all! Not only was it SUPER painful, she then had the nerve to tell me that I didn't have enough hair for an arch. Yeah, I didn't have enough hair because she removed it all! Got Keratin done at Zahra's Salon...First of all, it is a very elegant and chic shop with beautiful decor! Now, to the facts! The first treatment (my first ever) was great because it tamed my curls and weighed them down, the second (about 6 months later) did the trick and my hair is fairly straight with slight waves on the bottom. I am soooooo glad I did this, a friend kept telling me about Zahra's and Keratin but I had seen other people's bad Brazilian blowout and Japanese treatment result and was afraid. I did my research, spoke with Sheila and Zahra (who uses Keratin herself) and then decided to do it. My hair styling time has been cut dramatically, I'm now wash-to-ready in 15 mins versus my old 1.5 hrs. I don't want stick straight hair so I space out my treatment every six months but if you want super straight then I would say every 3 months or so. Anyways, great experience!!! It is truly a gem among gems. I've been seeing Shila for over ten years. When I first came to her, going to the hairstylist was a traumatic experience. I would dread getting my hair cut. I approached Zahra's salon with trepidation, but Shila quickly put me at ease. She listened very patiently, and after feeling pampered and taken care of, I looked amazing. I've come back to her ever since, and I cannot imagine ever going to someone else short or long distance. At some point, I moved to Maui. I was a little nervous moving and finding a new hairstylist. I looked around the island, and decided I couldn't do it -- I needed Shila's excellent care. I would make special trips back to the bay. She's just that good. Whenever I'd go home to Maui, everyone would ask me where I got my hair cut and styled. Many people almost came to California with me to experience her expertise! I now live in Palo Alto, and am still just as faithful as ever. Best of all, she now has a boutique in her salon. It's amazing and has the cutest clothes, jackets, jewelry and clutches. Not to mention they take great care of you with coffee, tea, and yummy edibles. Even after all the years, Shila is as patient as ever with me. She always listens to how I like my hair, gives great advice and makes me feel as beautiful as ever afterward. She's done many hair styles--short, long, curly, straight, layered, bangs, highlights, moonlights, etc. All come out amazing. I love this place and Zahra! I have very thick, long hair and in the past it has been a struggle trying to find a hair dresser that not only isn't intimidated by my hair, but that also understands my needs and wants. Zahra from the beginning has always been attentive to what I've requested, and if I'm unsure she will work little by little, until I make up my mind. I've been bad at making appointments in advance, but luckily she's always been able to schedule me within a few days, even staying after hours on numerous occasions to cut my hair last minute. My fiance was looking for a new hair dresser, so I sent him to Zahra's and he loved the end result, he said it was the best haircut he's gotten, and has made it a point to come back. Zahra has been cutting my hair for at least 7 or 8 years. She really knows how to cut hair--all kinds--and I have had a VERY hard time in the past finding someone who really understood how to cut my kind of big, big, curly, frizzy hair. Zahra gets it and she does it well. Where others wanted to thin or straighten my hair (or just try cutting it without a clue as to how), Zahra has cut and shaped it like no one else has been able to. She just gets curls! She also always listens to my requests and asks my opinion before she goes forward with anything. She is great with kids, too. I just brought my school-aged girls in to see her and their hair looks great now. She is awesome. On top of her stylistic talents, she is just a sweet person--gracious and welcoming, bringing tea and treats to her customers as they wait. If you are lucky, you might meet her family, too. They are all very nice people. Did I mention the adorable space? Very, very cute interior: Lots of mirrors and frames, distressed-finish furniture and accents, fleur-de-lys, and lots of white and cream. Also, the front is a clothing and jewelry boutique. One of my good friend recommended me to Shila when Zahra Boutique Salon was still at Hilltop mall 5 years ago and I have been a loyal customer ever since, even though they are a lot further from my parents' house now that they moved to Lafayette. I've since moved to Fayetteville, then to Cincinnati, but never bother to find another hairstylist. The first thing I do every time I come back to the bay (which is often) is to see Shila for a haircut. I love Shila! Not only is she great at what she does (I get compliments often); she is also very pleasant to talk to. She listens and understands exactly what I need every single time. Shila and Zahra are just wonderful! Shila has been pampering my hair for over 13 years now... since my high school prom! I get a trim about every 6 months to a year, probably not as often as I should but it always looks amazing after seeing Shila! She listens to what I say and asks additional questions to makes sure we are on the same page. I should mention that I has thick curly hair! I have been to other hair stylist and many are not great dealing with layers and making it look good curly or flat ironed. Shila also cuts my moms hair, my cousins hairs and many of my friends. My cousin also gets her eye brows threaded by Shila and they look great! Even if you are just looking for a blow out, this is a great place to go! I think they are very reasonably prices, although I don't usually get hair treatments such as coloring. The shop also offers unique and fashionable clothes that are hang picked. Zahra has transformed my hair. She took me from a curly/wavy disastrous mess to long flowing locks, trailing on my shoulders, colored mahogany with a hint of gold. I actually don't know how she does it. No other hairdresser I've had ever did. So, my only guess is she's a hair ninja, or sorceress, or something magical and powerful. That's the hair part. The other part is both she and shila have changed my life in such positive ways. I've come to love both of them as good friends, almost family. I went to Zahra for my first time for hair (as opposed to buying clothes, which I do regularly at their boutique), on the recommendation of 2 friends. I walked in a mess from a bad cut and really bad foils, and Zahra gave me a wonderful, very stylish cut and a conservative fix to my color which would not damage my over-processed hair. She also explained the long term plan which made sense and will not bankrupt me. I look 10 years younger, and much more stylish. Shila did the person next to me and her hair looked fantastic too. If you are in the East Bay looking for a fabulous hair salon look no further- but thats not all. There is a great clothing and accessory boutique which would be a destination in and of itself! I was having a hair "emergency" and called the Salon hoping for a Sunday appointment. Zahra called me back and was able to schedule me the next day (none of this "sorry we are totally booked- would next friday work thing (-:) I was a first-time appointment too! The location is great- right in downtown lafayette- you can get there in about a 2 minute walk from BART if you are a commuter. If you are driving there is a parking lot right next to the building too. I was greeted so warmly by Zahra and her daughter Shila, they offered me freshly made tea and it was so relaxing, like dropping in on a friend for a visit. I did not know what I wanted for my short hair but it just lacked "something" Zahra made several suggestions and went to work. FABULOUS is the result. The cut works so well with the shape of my face and somehow captured that messy yet chic look I envisioned. Zahra showed me how to style it and suggested I air dry to get the look I wanted. That just freed up 10minutes in the morning!! With hairstyle complete I then turned my attention to browsing the boutique. There really is something there for everyone of all ages- professional, casual, tailored,special occasion, you name it. Many of the labels they carry are European sizing so don't be afraid to try on to get your perfect size. Shila is the buyer and she really has a knack for learning what you like, what you don't like and suggesting items that you will want to wear and wear. I didn't feel funny asking how things looked or would match- its like having your own personal shopper! I found everything from accent pieces to outfits and had to hold myself back from full retail meltdown (-: but I will be back!! Check out the sale racks for some great deals. I understand why people keep coming back to this salon- its the perfect mix of great sense of style (hair and clothes) with friendliness and awesome customer service. I've been going to Zahra for the past 18 years and cannot praise her enough. She's always been honest with me about the best style I should have, including telling me when my long hair needed to be cut into a shorter, more flattering style. She listens to how I generally want it styled and goes for it. It takes a lot of trust for me to simply tell a hairdresser "cut it how you think it should be"! She's also done my highlights, which look amazing. And advises me on best color to use at different times of year, as well as sharing tips on home coloring. I went here once in dire need of a TRIM and some layering. She was nice and greeted me as soon as I walked in, although her daughter at the front desk wasn't as pleasant. So I told her exactly what I wanted she repeated it and seemed to understand. But Next thing I knew my mid-back length hair was now above my shoulders and my heart dropped. I have been looking for a new hair stylist and am pretty picky when it comes to my hair.. to the point where I haven't cut my hair in over a year b/c I had yet to find the right stylist. After reading past reviews I gave Zahra Boutqiue Salon a call to see if they could take me same day or following day as I had an event that next day (I know cutting it short). They were so nice and accommodating and were able to book my appointment. When I came in Zahra was so incredibly warm & friendly. I showed her two pictures of what I was looking for and she executed the style perfectly. She was so quick and effortless in her techniques. I was not nervous once and felt confident that she knew what she was doing. She also made some great recommendations on ways I could improve my at home hair care regimen, which I greatly appreciated. The one on one care and customer service she provided was outstanding and by the end of our session, I had no doubt in my mind that I finally had found the hair salon for me.
