    Roast Beef Sandwich
    Ross R.

I had such a great experience here last night for dinner. I got a half pastrami and half roast beef sandwich (on garlic hero) and it was delicious. The waitress was super sweet and the service was quick! There's a great deli counter where you can order prepared foods. Delicious coleslaw and matzo ball soup as well. Will definitely be coming back soon!!

One of the things I love most, as a person who appreciates local businesses, authentic to culture foods, is a good Jewish deli. Well, here is Zan's! When back East, a pastrami on rye is a must. I was so excited that they have a lunch special with a junior size sandwich, salad and beverage which was perfect for me to have a taste of pastrami. The meat was very tender and just enough. Shortly after being seated, the bowls of pickles and Cole slaw arrived. Yummy! The new pickles and regular pickles were seasoned well and had a nice crunch. The Cole slaw was just tangy enough for me. I initially ordered the Caesar salad with no croutons and the waitress said that then it's only lettuce versus the house salad that comes with croutons plus tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. Okay, I got that and unsweetened ice tea. My friend got a humongous, rare roast beef sandwich on a challah roll that looked amazing. She said it was flavorful and tender. She also had a side of macaroni salad that filled a soup bowl. Just the right balance of sweet to salt to sour. And the noodles were Al dente. I kept eyeing the dessert case but didn't give into my cravings. Darn because the apple strudel looked delicious. When my friend packed up the half sandwich she was given a piece of wax paper and a bag, a plastic container for the macaroni and told that the owner did not allow for the leftover pickles to be packed. Not sure why so they went in the container with the Coleslaw. Resolved! Please support this local business. Amazing food! Easy parking in the shopping center by Aldi's.

Wow, i haven't had pastrami like this since the city-Fresh tender and the taste is on point.

Haven't had pastrami like this since the city, fresh tender and the taste was on point, worth the $22 all day long

Good food, good service, good pricing, and great ambiance! Get the pastrami, skip the matzo ball soup, and take home extra pickles!

Well, had the service not been so horrendous I could see giving more stars. The mushroom barley soup is tasty but stay away if you're avoiding salt. The pea soup was pretty good too and not as salty. The open face turkey was fresh and a good portion as was the corned beef. I love the cole slaw. They guys behind the counter are the nicest, but Myra needs a day off or three.

When I came to your Yelp page why am I not surprised that you received 2.5 stars or below? Yeah great, my moms MOWs are provided by you but should we be surprised at how disgusting your food is based on reviews? Probably not. Also, in her (what you call) potato soup we found 3 hairs. Two short and straight and one short and curly. Disgusting to think where the third one may have come from. And are you trying to kill the old people who you provided MOW for with your dried up rubbish? Your pork was so dry neither of my 2 dogs would even go anywhere near it. And that's not the first dinner she's been sent that she couldn't swallow and the dogs wouldn't touch. Kind of tells you something, doesn't it?

Legacy residents remember when this place was Ben's Kosher Deli, a staple in the community for decades. Well known and highly trafficked, nothing has changed regarding the quality of the food or service. Dine-in residents enjoy complimentary coleslaw and pickles as part of their meal. A friend of mine once told me you could gauge the quality of a restaurant by its coleslaw. OK, you're probably like me and require a little more explanation. He went on to state that coleslaw is one of the most insignificant components to any meal, and if a restaurant takes care to prepare such an insignificant item, the rest of their food must be amazing. So maybe it's not an absolute indicator or exact science, but it holds true here and has served me well in other instances. The sandwiches are stuffed with meat, as you can see, and the knishes do not disappoint; the best I've ever had. Just do yourself a favor and don't make the mistake of ordering a corned beef and Swiss on rye...and when the staff tells you no, challenge them by saying, "What is this? A Jewish deli?" Yeah, true story, faux pas by one of my Italian friends who proceeded outside, looked up at the sign that clearly reads "kosher deli", and couldn't walk back in out of embarrassment. Kosher delis will not mix meat and cheese, so if that's your jam, hop back in your buggy and head to the next feeding hole.

Chicken Caesar salad wrap is phenomenal and it's a very nice place to sit down and eat especially when they run deals for dining in.

High prices, so-so quality. The pastrami was lean but tough and tasteless. The pickles are soggy, no snap.

Everything was also packed up and presented so nicely. My mom picked it up and she said that an employee helped and brought everything to her car. She even said the employee kept the meal for 6 and the meal for 4 separate. The cover for the tray with fries was poked with holes so that it wouldn't get soggy. Talk about a simple afterthought! The meals came with with different types of kabobs (2 different chicken ones, and two different beef ones), Chicken Shawarma, Israeli salad, hummus, fries, babaghanoush, two different kinds of rice and pita bread. We also had falafel. Let me tell you....everything was so delicious. I wasn't even hungry after my first plate but I still helped myself to more. Everyone in my family throughly enjoyed. We couldn't stop talking about how good the food and presentation was. 5 stars all the way!

"Oy, would it maybe kill them to put out a nice brisket?"…read more (The Big Bang Theory, "The Vegas Renormalization") Yes, they can! That, along with some great pastrami and corned beef also! I've been to the Ben's Deli in Bay Terrace, Queens and the one that was on 38th St in Manhattan (now rebranded as Mr. Broadway) and there used to be a counter in the Roosevelt Field Mall food court across the street. Whichever one you go to, you can always count on a delicious, fresh sliced deli sandwich and a hearty soup accompanied at your table by stainless steel trays of crisp dill pickles and a heaping pile of cole slaw (aka Jewish salad). Another thing they all shared is the throwback 70's pastel Formica® décor. The menu is a HUGE tabloid sized card with a tiny font to cram in as many choices as possible. Imagine a NY Times full page in color, x2. Meeting up with our godson at Ben's, he had arrived early and ordered some appetizers to share, a Mixed Starter Platter (Chicken Tenders, Mini Franks, Potato Pancakes & Mini Meatballs) and an extra plate of Mini Meatballs in Gravy. Those were tasty and I saved the gravy for later. Some of us also got the Matzoh Ball soup and the Mushroom Barley soup in big bowls. I totally forgot to ask about the rotating Soup of the Day, because I was hoping for Split Pea. Next time! If you're at Ben's, you really have to get the pastrami and around the table, everybody got it in some shape or form. My wife & son got the Deli Duos, which is 2 sandwiches (pastrami & corned beef) on mini Challah rolls. My son likes those with Russian dressing. Our godson got the Ben's Deli Dog, a grilled butterflied Hebrew National frank topped with Pastrami & Sauerkraut on a Club Roll & thick Crinkle Cut Fries. My BIL & I got straight Pastrami on Rye. I wanted to try my stuffed pastrami sandwich with different dressings, first the meatball gravy and then Russian dressing, but the Ben's course deli mustard is always the best. As for the brisket, I always love to have it as a hot open sandwich with plenty of gravy and mashed potatoes, which I will keep in mind for next time. Hot Tip: Don't be shy to ask for a refill of pickles and slaw. We always do.

Well undeniably Ben's is and will always be my favorite Jewish Deli in NY. I have been frequenting the Carle Place location for years and I have never been so disgusted with the attitude and lack of courtesy and respect by the hostess Gilah and two servers lauren and a man whose name alludes me. When a restaurant makes you feel they are doing you a favor or that you should feel privileged for them serving you, something has gone wrong! On New Year's day to make you leave a restaurant because the server demands you order because doesn't like the fact you sat in a table for 4 when you are just one means , his POV is more important than mine as a customer, and another server (Lauren) intentionally makes you wait because she wants to side with the other server instead of coming to serve me they all left me waiting ten minutes passing me by to attend people that arrived later than I. Sure their food is great and most of their servers ARE AWESOME like Jeannete and others but sadly they made my 1st day of the New Year memorable for the wrong and negative reasons. Thank you Ben's for making my New Year's day one unfortunately and sadly i have to remember with disdain and staunch dissapointment!

We came in before noon on a Sunday and had our choice of tables. Their deli offerings are pretty consistent between stores, with a large double-sided tabloid sized menu. But the service here is just that much better because Marjorie was our server and she treated us like we were her family. As at all Ben's Deli's, you always start with a deep bowl of pickles and a boat of tasty cole slaw (don't be shy if you want a refill). The soup of the day is Chicken a la Reine, which is basically cream of chicken and I love all creamy soups. It comes in a large, wide bowl, but I miss having saltine crackers in my soup. My wife orders the Rachel Panini with pastrami on rye and 2 Ultimate Paninis, one with pastrami & corned beef for me and pastrami & brisket for my son. All the sandwiches are toasted on the panini press and come with a choice of potatoes as a side and Russian dressing. My wife and son go with potato latkes and I go with the thick cut crinkle fries like the Nathan's fries down in Coney Island. Theirs come with apple sauce, which I like to slurp up as dessert. Gotta come back next time to try out the Ben's Deli Dog or maybe a nice Hot Open Brisket sandwich with plenty of gravy.
