Great food, intimate feel, great prices. I showed up at 7:45PM on a Sunday and only had to wait 5 minutes for a table. Once seated, however, service was pretty slow. Probably because one guy was acting as the host and waiter for the ENTIRE restaurant. Ordered the sea bass and it was great. Two people, two beers, two fish entrees- total 34€!!! Very affordable. Seemed like it was packed with locals- usually a great sign. Heads up- if you're a party of two there's a 99% chance you will be seated next to stranger (tables not even a full inch apart).

Octopus was fresh and was prepared very well. That was my first Bacalhau so I couldn't really tell if it was good.

Pros: Food was awesome! This is an authentic local eatery with tons of selection. Atmosphere was very welcoming. Everything was priced reasonably. Cons: cash only

Zapata actually showed up on Google maps so we decided to try this on day 1 of our travels. We came during lunch time so there was no wait. Absolutely best dishes? The steaks. The locals even come here because the Bitoque is 7 euros for such a huge portion and all of the seafood including Seabass, Cod, Swordfish, are all super fresh and super delicious (a little salty but that's the ocean for you!). I would also recommend the larger portions of steak like Bife a casa as they are 9-11 euros but come with potatoes and a large portion of vegetables. In summary, the food here and the service was absolutely delicious and great. Only thing to be wary of is the wait time during peak dinner hours(9pm-11pm) as if your group is larger than 2 you definitely will not get in.

We decided to try Zapata because it was nearby our apartment. Turned out it was a perfect place, full of people, mainly locals. Food was delicious and at reasonable price. Only getting to the waiter was hard but it was obvious with a full house.

This restaurant was recommended by our Airbnb host and it did not disappoint. The 30 minute wait was a good indicator of the quality of the food. We got the grilled octopus and broiled grouper. Both delicious, but the octopus was the clear winner. Loved our experience at Zapata!

Chicken with ham and cheese inside. SO GOOD!

Simple but good! All kinds of fish. But, I was not in the mood for fish so we got chicken and steak and both were so flavorful. Steak was covered in garlic! Chicken had a sauce on it that was total flavor bomb! Fries were homemade goodness. Very crowded and very loud. Had to wait for a table. Maybe go at lunch time to avoid crowd!?

Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

The fact that my husband and I got there before anyone else came, allowed us to have the most amazing conversation with the staff that works there!! Faysal greeted us and was very welcoming! As we ate dinner, Bernardo who is a waiter there, told us the history of the building etc and since no one else was there, we talked about our families and that he going to be a veterinarian...and that he has something else coming up that is going to be exciting. All through our dinner we chatted with him (as if we were having dinner at his house) and enjoyed every minute of the conversation!! It was the best part of the evening! We even got to meet Miguel the chef, and were happy to tell him his food was amazing! I can't recommend this restaurant enough!!! They only charge 19.60 euro for all you can eat!!!! I hope a lot of people read this and go to Rosa da Rua!!!

The restaurant was quaint and intimate , with a small buffet that easily fills you up. There were many options from a beef stew to a curry, a noodle dish with bacon, salad, and other options. They even explained the options to us. I truly wish we had more time in Lisbon because I would have definitely returned to try it again as the options differ nightly. I would definitely recommend this to all in Lisbon.
