Their service is top notch and the hookah is the best in the Dallas area (they use Al Fakher / Starbuzz tobacco and the best natural coals you can find which is critical to a good hookah experience) On my first visit, the owner gave me some free appetizers which were absolutely amazing and he didn't even ask for anything back (i.e. it wasn't to get a great Yelp review but to drive genuine customer satisfaction). Since we moved to Dallas, we have really missed good Mediterranean food. But now there is Zatar! We ordered three tapas plates for two people and were shocked at how large the portions were, and everything was delicious. The only drawback was that we wanted to try more items off the menu, but we were so stuffed that it was impossible. So we will have to go back. read more

First off, they don't even have zatar on the menu and when we asked the waitress she basically made us feel stupid for even asking. I've been several times; for brunch, dinner, and just hookah. Wonderful experience every time. The food is amazing, in particular, the hummus. The cocktails are original and tasty. Unfortunately, they missed the mark here. My 8 year old daughter loves zatar, so she was pretty pissed to learn they don't actually serve zatar. WTH?! The tapas we ordered were ok, but the falafel was embarrassing. Sadly, it was a disgrace to true Lebanese food, with the exception of the pita bread. We waited an hour for our food, at which point my sister had to leave and didn't end up eating dinner. After 15 more minutes passed, I told them I'd pay for the food that had come and that we had to go. I'm Lebanese and come from a family of cooks. I had high hopes. I guess I'll have to wait til my parents come back from the motherland to eat real Lebanese food. My hubby and I had dinner here for the first time. To drink, he had the Lebanese Mule, its made with Hennessy and packed with a kick. I had the Fairuz, it was light and tropical, definitely a girly drink. We started off with the humus duo and liked both. For the main course, I had the Mograbiyeh (roasted chicken, couscous/chickpeas); it was good but felt it was for someone with a less adventurous palette. My hubby had the upside-down lamb pilaf and it was full of flavor, lots of umph! I liked his food better than mine. One of the owners stopped by to chat with us. He mentioned the lamb was his mother's recipe; his favorite dish growing up. Although we were full, we just had to try the dessert. One of the waitress suggested we try the chocolate halawa cake. It was rich with layers of halva and buttercream; perfect for his early birthday celebration. We finished off with the Arabic hot tea, a soothing and relaxing way to end dinner. This place is a disgrace the Lebanese culture. The owner should really consider taking out the LEBANESE word out of the the restaurant name because it is no where close to what REAL LEBANESE restaurant offer. Went tonight with a big group to celebrate a friend's birthday but was shocked and disgusted with the service they have. First we reserved for 25 people but found a table that fits maximum 15 people when we complained to the owner all he did was bringing chairs and squeezed us all together. Second, I ordered my hookah and of course it took forever to get to me with coals half way lit which turned off 5 minutes later and every time I ask for coals same thing happens so it's either they don't know to light up coals or they have the worst/cheapest kind of coals. Third, we asked for napkins and the server was like " there's some in the restrooms" which bothered me the most. Then we ordered food, it's understandable that the restaurant was busy and food took longer than usual that's really normal and it happens, I ordered the chicken shawarma and man that was the worst; the chicken was very dry and had no taste. Finally after all this mess the worst part was when we asked for our checks to pay the server said there's a table that he needs to charge before us and he will be with us shortly but that server never showed back up, then we complained to the owner and he advised the system is down and they only can take cash so just charging us took more than hour because of he system and the owner had no idea what he was doing and what was he charging and whom he was charging. The bottom line is this restaurant is being run in a very chaotic way and if they need to continue in business they MUST change something and immediately. Definitely won't go there again this was my first and last. This is just a reply to the owner's comment: Thank you for the reply but clearly you didn't read what my concerns were. You do see that I didn't only mention the payment part! What's your explanation for your staff who told us to go get the napkins from the restrooms when we asked for napkins! And what's your explanation for the table we were given when we originally reserved for 25 people! My only advise is to actually investigate what happened before you make any comments! read more

Very much like absinthe. The old fashioned is perfect - not sweet at all just like we like it! Came to deep ellum with my husband for a long awaited date night. I had heard great things about Zatar and it did not disappoint! We are the only two people in there, which wasn't too alarming, as it was a Sunday evening. The appetizers can out and the taco trio was pretty good, but the grape leaves were very disappointing. They were rolled so thin. As for the entrees, I ordered the lamb pilaf, and my brother got the Freekeh with Chicken. Everything was pretty average at a premium price. The Freelek was very pricy for a plate of cooked grains. To add four pieces of chicken cost an additional $8. Overall, left feeling a bit ripped off. read more

All excellent items!! For dessert, we tried the Halva chocolate cake. It was very good. I would definitely like to experiment and try the other desserts on the menu but if your craving chocolate this hits the spot and it's not too sweet. Very good. I also wanted to mention besides the cocktails to try. I recommend the Arabic teapot is worth trying as well! This will be a must now when I go back. Very good flavor. I haven't had Lebanese food for almost 25 yrs. So I was really looking forward to it. We ordered hummus duo which is really good but I wished the spicy hummus would be more spicy. The cauliflower was too salty and too much lemon. I was a bit disappointed. The cheese cigar is really yummy. I would recommend it. Upside down lamb was too blend. I didn't taste any flavor in the lamb. It tastes like old meat. The zatar special flatbread was disappointing too. There was too much zatar sauce. Zatar truly has some of the most delicious and flavorful food I've ever eaten. The hummus was so incredibly light and fluffy and the cheese cigars are unlike anything I've ever had before (they were insane - you have to order them). My friend and I had dinner there on a Friday night and it was not busy at all which was so surprising given how good the food and service was. Peter was our server and made our experience perfect! My husband said the shawarma was better than what he got when he was in Kuwait and Afghanistan.
