I love Zaxby's, but sometimes you can get bad service that ruins your experience (like most fast-foody type places). The Zaxby's on James Island, though, is great. The staff is very friendly and the to-go line moves quickly. It's very clean inside, and the food is tasty. I like to get the Nibblerz Meal, but they also have Zalads and Wings that are tasty, too. My only complaint would be that the soda machine is sometimes a little iffy. You never know if you're going to get Sprite or some sort of soda water carbonate (watch out!). What's more, everyone has seen Carlton advertising the Birthday Cake Milkshakes. Yum. read more

Just gave this place another try and waited 20 minutes and then saw the employee get out of her car and walk inside. THEN my order was taken. Then my order was WRONG! Watch out for this place, they try to steal money from you. $15 isn't a lot but I've been "scammed" on 2 separate occasions here. The first time, I placed a mobile order and was told they couldn't make it or refund it when I got there because someone got pepper sprayed. I decided to go back today for the first time since they took my $15, placed my order normally, get up to the window and the girl says "we're out of large cups" and just stares at me like I have 3 heads. I told her ok and took my medium drink. You'd think I'd be charged for a medium meal after that, nope! I was still charged for a large drink and my fries were never large to begin with! 1 click on the computer could've changed that drink from a medium to a large, most smart places would just 86 the large drinks to save the hassle. Long story short, avoid this place. The service is bad, the food is mid, and you'll be overcharged atleast $1-2 every visit for little stuff. Never have I experienced a major delay in Drive Thru traffic, never have I waited upon a particularly long line when eating inside and at some level. --- This is a problem for me. Canes, Chick-Fila and Bojangles seem all to pack in the customers during the busy feeding hours, not so much at Zaxbys. Perceived problematic level two is how two friends espoused upon the virtues of the menu which, upon reading was more of a chicken cooking biography. So, after much consideration, I decided upon -- wait for it -----, the chicken. The ten piece boneless wings were a bit processed to the taste buds, synthetic to the glance and then the buds got slapped by a spicy sauce was quite a full mouth awakening that I was not prepared for. I took a Kickin Chicken sandwich only as the French Fries smacked of frozen and all but for not, if not consumed within fifteen seconds. The Texas was heavily buttered, although by texture and taste I'd swear it was in the margarine family. Another spicey little option that fanned the flames of a searing hot sensation and dulled my ambitions to return. Pretty good for a fast food place. Stopped here quickly on our way into Charleston. Got the sliders and they were really good. I would say they give a really big portion of food. No one was able to finish all their food. Surprisingly good. They have a drive thru but I would suggest sitting and eating as it was a bit messy. read more

The food is salty. The sweet tea is too sweet. The customer service isn't great. I asked for extra crispy fries. They gave me my fries and I asked them to cook it more. The cook in the bad for an attitude. Also they ran out of check cole slaw and said "you have to get extra fries". I asked them for a side salad instead and they told me no. Typical fast food restaurant. Food is reliable and I love their sweet tea and ice! This chain features chicken in all kinds of preparations from chicken fingers and fries to salads. I like to get their grilled cheese. It makes me feel like a kid. Their fries are seasoned, but not to heavy. It's a nice accent. Of course I love the James Island Zaxby's. They take their time to make sure that every meal they serve is delivered right. Good food takes time. I respect that in a Zaxby's. So we ordered a salad and two chicken finger orders and they come with fries. We asked and paid for extra ranch and requested bleu cheese on the salad. This order was also to go in the drive thru line. We got the the order home and we had NO ketchup, no extra sauce, not even the sauce we ordered and we had no salad dressing at all. This was at 5:30 on Folly Road which m and traffic was backed up to the connector. We called and spoke to the manager and were told to come back and get the sauce/dressing/ketchup, not replace the meal, which was quickly getting cold or take 20% of our next order? I wouldn't usually recommend getting a salad from a fast food joint, but Zaxby's is the exception. They're big, they give you 2 packs of dressing and they have the yummiest crumbly things on them. The place is always clean too and the trash is never overflowing, a huge difference that makes them stand out from the others. Horrible experience at Folly Rd location. Sat in drive thru for twenty minutes and as i was pulling off, i realized i didn't get one of my meals. I called the store and was told to go back through the drive thru that was still wrapped around the building....nope. Asked if someone could bring it out to me and sat waiting another ten minutes. Finally, in my pajamas and flip flops i went in and stood at the counter for almost ten more minutes. I had to ask if and when i ciukd get what i had already paid for because my other food would be cold and basically got no response. Employees never apologized for it. I get it, it was busy. But i felt like the couldn't have cared less and one walking back in from taking an order out snickered. I wish i would have paid more attention to names, because every one of them needs to be thrown under the bus. Lost my service. I'll get my wings somewhere else. read more
