Well, this is a hidden gem if ever I've seen one! Zaytune is unassuming and easy to miss if you're not looking for it, but the food is well worth making a trek out of your way. It's extremely casual with a few tables, but most visitors were taking their food to go. We opted for the chicken shawarma wrap, kafta kebab wrap, and guava cardamom baklava cheesecake. It took awhile for the food to come out, but this was a positive for us since it was guaranteed to be fresh. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but these wraps were massive. The chicken was super tender and juicy, and I loved the thin, homemade pita used for the wrap. There were plenty of crunchy veggies mixed evenly throughout. I did think the wrap could've used an extra flavor boost with some herbs or garlic sauce. The kafta had a glorious char and was perfectly seasoned. I preferred this of the two. But the unexpected hero here was the fries, which were pure perfection! They were perfectly crispy, piping hot, and generously topped with the most delicious crispy herbs and za'atar seasoning. I loved the beet herb aioli that came alongside them as well. We ended with the cheesecake, which absolutely blew us away. The idea of putting cheesecake on top of baklava was pure genius. The cardamom added a nice warmth, and the crunchy nuts with crispy phyllo complemented the creamy filling perfectly. I wouldn't have thought to top this masterpiece with guava jam, but the fruitiness was just enough to added a refreshing zing. It was also massive and definitely worth the price. 11/10 would definitely come again next time I'm in the area, and highly recommend paying a visit if you haven't already! read more

Stopped in for a shawarma and was pleasantly surprised. The meat was flavorful, juicy, and well-seasoned, with a nice balance of spices. The vegetables tasted fresh, and the sauces brought everything together without overpowering the wrap. The portion size was satisfying and a good value for the price. An unassuming Mediterranean spot in the middle of a residential neighborhood! Street parking only, but it wasn't hard to find on a Thursday night. Our food came out lightning fast, and they were so nice to let us sit there until closing. Big portions - we got falafels, the beef shawarma plate, and the shrimp shawarma plate. It was SUCH a generous portion of beef shawarma, vs you only get six pieces of shrimp. Every dish comes with salad with tahini dressing (literal tahini watered down with nothing else), the protein you choose, a skewer of veggies, and rice. Make sure you don't forget to add tahini and any other sauces!! FYI - The tahini is not salted so it's really just a more runny version of tahini. Normally I think falafels are a little dry for me, but my friend hyped these up so I had to go for it. This ended up being the MOST moist falafel I've ever had in my entire life - so crispy, so moist inside. Delicious!! Comes with a tiny dollop of humus too! read more

Everything was too salty. Hummus was inedible because of it. Baba ganoush and hummus were watery. Falafel wrap was served with lukewarm falafel and refrigerated cold pita/tortilla as a wrap. You order off a screen that prompts for a tip?? When you have to serve your own drinks, pick up your own food from the counter, and bus your own table? I really wish 3.5 - 3.75 were an option, because 4 doesn't really reflect how I feel. I went on a late Saturday afternoon with my wife. It wasn't too busy, but they had small crew so no one was dedicated to the register (translating to waits for ordering) The food ranged from fair (lamb) to amazing (baklava cheese cake) with the chicken falling right in between those two. The portion sizes were good and the pita bread came out hot. We also really enjoyed the hummus. The things that impacted the rating for me were the service (which felt lacking and a bit begrudged even for a fast casual), beverages (it was 95 degrees outside, their water machine was not working, and they were still charging almost $3/bottle for Kirkland brand water), and the tiny, espresso shot sized cup of coffee. read more

I haven't been to Zaytune much in the last five years because I don't work in the neighborhood any longer and the one that opened in Lincoln Square didn't last a year. It's kind of fast-casual in its approach; there are several tables but you order at the register and pick up your food when it's called out; you also pick up your own silverware and bus your table. This review is clearly long overdue. Zaytune is one of my favorite Mediterranean places; the food is so darn good. I get the chicken breast plate and it's always so delicious. Their lentil soup is pretty good as well. The herbed fries are amazing and I am so glad my friend ordered them because I totally forgot. They come with a kalamata olive sauce that is a great accompaniment to them. There are a couple downsides. The prices are really high. Other mediterranean places I go to are often less expensive but have larger portion sizes--I usually have leftovers but not at Zaytune. The other problem--out of their control, of course--is parking. People like to complain about parking on the north side but every time I've gone to Zaytune I have struggled to find a parking space. We almost skipped it and went to Antique Taco instead but just happened to get lucky and find not only one but two spaces by our second or third spin around the block. This place has taken a nose dive. It used to be pretty good but now it's filthy, messy and slow. The meat is grossly over seasoned which probably means it's horrible quality. I felt so gross eating here I will never go back. The staff is also rude. Poor service to say the least. I don't understand who they hire here. 10-15 minutes for a shawarma when it's empty then 5 minutes in an employee sits down across and starts eating his own. Would suggest a turnover in staff immediately, slow as I've ever seen anyone in the service industry, unfriendly and uninterested. Food itself, just about okay and overpriced. Given the amount of negative reviews on the business, the staff and how it's run I wouldn't expect anything to ever change. Food was delicious and fresh. The hummus is generous in serving and delicious. All the food is generously sized. The meat is soft and not over cooked or over seasoned. The fries are herby and crispy. The purple dip seems garlicky but thick I consistency. Not sure what makes it purple - sweet potato? Taro? The wrap is huge and tasty. Spicy sauce served with it. I work near Zaytune Mediterranean Grill and usually eat there at least twice a week. I ordered on their site today and noticed they had curbside pick up, snowy day so I took advantage. I called in to let them know I had arrived and the person who answered said I didn't know we offered curbside pickup. When she brought my food out I said thank you. She never responded. The food is good but the customer service is horrible. I have a choice of where I shop, be grateful that I choose to give you my business. That was the funkiest attitude ever! read more

Heard great things about Zaytune being of the "favorite lunch spots" for Bridgeport by multiple people, so decided to try it out. Wasn't very impressed. Got the chicken shawarma platter and the chicken was a bit dry & overall not as tasty as I've come to expect from Mediterranean cuisine. The vegetable skewer was room temperature and the salad felt like a bit of an afterthought / put there just to fill the space. Overall, underwhelmed by the meal and probably won't go back. read more

We went back and tried their wraps - the chicken shawarma wrap and the falafel wrap, to be specific. We were in the mood for take-out food that was on the healthier side. The wraps were great! I would definitely recommend. My boyfriend said he'll see if they'll make a chicken and falafel wrap next time. This place gave me a Mexican Mediterranean fusion vibe. I ordered the chicken salad bowl and my friend ordered the lamb grill platter. The salad was huge. I ate about half of it but when I moved it around, it looked like a brand new salad! The meat was well-seasoned for me and well-cooked - not too tough to chew. The lettuce was very fresh! Not a fan of radishes and I asked for them to be removed, but they weren't. I also wasn't a fan of the crispy flat breads, maybe because I thought it was coming with pita. My friend, who absolutely loves lamb and will order it whenever it's available, didn't like the meat here. He said it didn't taste like lamb and I agreed. I smelled it and it definitely had the gamey smell to it, but when I chewed it, the texture and taste was not like lamb at all. If you pay with cash, there's a 10% discount, or something like that, so that's a plus! read more

Sad to write this because I'm a long-time customer who lives in the neighborhood and loves their food, but this has happened twice in a row now: I ordered on-line through their web site, arrived for pickup at the time they determined, and waited more than 40 minutes past that time for my food. They were staffed at a high level and not overly busy for the number of people working, but it just took forever for them to complete a simple order. We love this place so much. Whenever we order via Uber Eats we always make sure to stock up on several dishes for leftovers. Below are our favorites: - Baba Gannoush and Hummus (both come with the homemade flatbread). Both dips are seasoned perfectly with the right amount of oil. I love how you can taste all of seasonings working together and there's not just one overpowering flavor like most others. Use it as a spead to make your own wrap. - Falafel and Chicken shawarma platter. This falafel is the freshest I've ever had. I love eating it on its own or adding it to a wrap. The chicken shawarma is so incredibly tender and flavorful. Just thinking about the spices and the grill flavor is making my mouth water. Each platter comes with a vegetable skewer, salad, and basmati rice. Listen, idk what they do to these vegetables, but I have NEVER rushed to eat a veggie so fast in life. Grilled to perfection and fresh. Sometimes they don't even make it in my wrap. - Homemade flatbread. Buy several of these with your platters/dips. They are so fresh and soft but hold so much. I love packing one of everything mentioned above into a wrap. So yummy and so filling. I love supporting places like this. You can tell they put a lot of care into their food and use only the freshest ingredients. Hidden Gem on the corner of 31st and Morgan St. A small restaurant, but they have enough space to seat about 30+ people. I would not recommend for big groups but definitely for a few friends or a quick bite. I came here with my boyfriend and we tried the hummus, the chicken shawarma wrap, the chicken shawarma plate, and the fries. Fries were amazing! But so was everything else I had. Loveeddd the hummus tasted authentic and the pita it came with was the perfect combo. We ordered too much for 2 people, but I'm glad we got to try multiple things on the menu. This is a recent discovery that I question for being so delayed. I have been driving by for many years and finally dragged myself and others to try. The four of us shared an order of herb fries and we each had a grilled wrap. The herb fries came in a medium size bowl and was evenly seasoned. In a separate component was the kalamata sauce which seemed to be yogurt-based. We thought the fries were excellent as is so we left most of the kalamata sauce untouched. When the wraps arrived, I quickly realized we had over-ordered. Each wrap was approximately 10 inches long. We had the falafel, grilled chicken, and grilled steak. I only tried the meats and they were very well marinated and juicy thin strips. The wraps were so tightly packed that when I cut it down the middle, the meat came tumbling out. The chicken had rosemary, yogurt, garlic, and spices while the steak was the same minus the yogurt. With the massive portion, I split mine into two meals. read more
