I had my mouth set on a gyro, but this location definitely missed the mark. Maybe there was a meat shortage the night I went because there was more bread than meat. And even though the bread was good, I didnt stand in line to place my order and eat it in my car for bread! Although they are open late, you can't sit inside after 10 pm (maybe even 9pm) and eat after coming in to place your order. The workers and security guards (yes plural) were nice enough, but again... It was a busy night and he could have easily rushed us, been impatient but it was anything but that. That delicious, roasted, savory steak or whatnot goes right into your gyro. Add some veggies and feta, and allow me to welcome you to heaven. Now imagine you are shopping at Aldi. Sometimes in their frozen department, they have something called a gyro. It's alright; for frozen food, it's very passable. The meat is heavily processed, but what would you expect? I can tell you for sure when I go to Greektown, and I eat at a place called "Mr. Greek," I expect the former, not the latter. They did have some kind of meat roasting on the spit mentioned earlier. However, when I got my order (#1 combo - gyro w/ fries and medium drink), they might as well have gotten that garbage at Aldi. This was the same warm (read: not hot), heavily processed, over-salted junk. The pita and sauce were fine, though the onions and tomatoes seemed to be thrown on as an afterthought. Food: 8/10 Service: 0/10 This has been my go to spot and favorite gyro from the city for a while now until tonight. I ordered from door dash (per usual for me), and never had an issue. Tonight I placed an order for pickup and not even 2 minutes went by before they marked the food as ready and marked my order as complete. I called to let them know/ see if I could still pick up my order, as they collected my $80, but as soon as I said door dash he cut me off from talking, told me to contact door dash and hung up. As you can see in the screenshots, and the whole reason behind me calling, is this is not a door dash issue. I've worked in fast food before and they (the restaurant) are the ones who mark the order as ready and complete. All in all, be weary if you're ordering from door dash and also just dealing with a business like this in general. Being busy is one thing, but this is just shady. Haven't had a Chicago Gyros in some time. I had been craving one for so long I had one at Nick The Greeks is Daly City Westlake California. I was disappointed by their cost cutting and French Fry portion size by putting five or six fries in the sandwich and decreasing the meat portion. Then I went to Mr. Greeks yesterday and got the awesome gyro ample portion size, and the 1lb paper bag side of fries, and a drink to help lubricants the passageway that was about to be stuffed. We decided to get some gyros, and was pleased with our decision. it's been over a year since I've had a decent euro but I've ate a few in the last year and they weren't as good as this. the only thing I would've changed is being able to add lettuce & shredded cheese to the euro to make it more dense. One thing I will include about my experience is there was a very difficult customer on the phone and I was over 15 feet away and could hear the customer acting like a child and screaming. I've worked with customer service before, but the gentleman named Stefanos has outstanding patience, handled the situation amazingly and very professionally. I don't think I've left a review in the last five years, but I had to just because of his outstanding character. I forgot to take pics!!! I wanted something quick and decided to go here. I have been going here since their glory days. Well those days are so over. The chicken pita was tough: the frozen chicken strips were hard to chew, lettuce was crying, sweet & hot peppers gave up. No flava whatsoever. The rice was gummy, tasteless. My friend had a burger which he said tasted frozen like. The fries were actually the best part of the meal. They reduced the size of the fountain cups but u can still get refills. Also it's expensive too. $32 for a chicken pita combo and a single burger combo. So not worth it. I'll give Zeus' a try, a spot behind them on Jackson. The gyro platter was overflowing, literally. For around $10, you will get a full to go box filled with freshly sliced gyro meat, onions, tomatoes, pita and a choice of two sides. We had the salad and fries, but you could also get a side of rice. The tzatziki sauce was perfect. The sandwich combo is also very generous. For around $8-9, you get a huge sandwich, fries and a drink. The fries come fresh and hot in a bag the size of a small lunch bag. I have been stopping by here for several years when the King Gyros on 54th and Broadway [THE BEST] is too far to drive. I love chicken gyros shaved off the big hunk on the spit. Up until TODAY, I've had nothing be great experience here. Today, I ordered two chicken gyro plates. I was there about 10 minutes after they opened. Well, when I got home, the chicken is NOT the gyro meat shaved off like have had every single time in the past. There may have been some small pieces shaved off, there there were chunks of chicken breast cut up, doused in grease, and seasoned with Cavender's Greek seasoning or something similar. How do I know? Because I make my own chicken on the trill and I use Cavernder's Greek seasoning. But I don't add the grease. I called to complain and the owner/manager started arguing with me . . . "we've been doing our chicken gyros the same way for 20 years." I told him that all he had to do was tell me they were out . . . but before I could finish and say that I'd have gotten "regular" gyros, he talked over me angrily, insisting that it was "the same thing we've served for 20 years.". BULL-SH!T. And one of my cups of tzatziki sauce had been dumped in grease and put in section of the styrofoam server. It coagulated and looked disgusting. See the pictures and judge for yourself. I had never tried it and thought no better time than now. We ordered chicken tenders, chicken gyro platter, gyro platter and a chicken gyro sandwich. The chicken tenders were bigger pieces than other fast food places. It came with fries. The fries I would pass on for carryout. Better fries elsewhere. The gyro platter and chicken platter had fried but instead we substituted it with rice. The gyro meat wasn't thrown on the griddle to crisp up a bit so we've had it better elsewhere. The chicken gyro platter and the chicken gyro sandwich was very tasty and had a nice crispness on some of the meat. Three stars because of the fries and the tzatziki sauce was slathered on the edge of the pita sandwich on one side and wished there was more spread out on the pita.
