Will not hire this company. No communication after several tries over a 1 week period and not getting any response until I posted a 1 star review. Then I got a text saying they've been busy and would send out a quote. The amount was the highest by far and work wouldn't start until 10 weeks after signing of contract. We had a fantastic experience working with Jesus and his company, and we would recommend this company to anyone with landscaping needs. Our place needed a complete redesign as we had just remodeled the house and we had let our grass die a few years ago. We hired a landscape designer who came up with a great plan of native plants and a backyard patio. She strongly recommended Jesus who she's worked with a long time. Jesus gave us feedback on the design including some aspects which might be challenging, so we altered the plan based on his expertise. His team worked efficiently. Everything happened on time, so all the milestones were completed exactly when expected. There were some issues discovered with the existing drainage after the work started, but Jesus gave us reasonable suggestions for altering the design to come up with a solution. This wasn't just a simple planting job. Both the front and the back needed to be graded, and proper drainage needed to be installed. We used pavers to create a small patio in the front yard and a larger one in the back yard. Jesus gave us great input on what would be the best kind of tile to use for this. We also needed some concrete work done on the step down to the patio. We also had them build custom vegetable beds designed specifically for the shape of our space. In the end, they finished on time, and there were no cost overruns. They had the expertise to deal with all the unknowns we encountered with reasonable solutions. We chose Zazueta last summer to redo our backyard - from a wild, mountain slope to a flat surface (half concrete, half grass) with multiple retaining walls, fencing, and more. One tricky aspect was that we were not around for the month when the work would be done, so trust and communication were absolutely key. We went with Zazueta because all our questions were answered promptly, in detail, and included recommendations (that we really appreciated given we are not pros ourselves when it comes to this stuff). Jesus and his crew did an outstanding job, keeping us in the loop with pictures and phone calls throughout. We returned to a beautiful backyard that has since received many compliments. I should mention that the earth has settled some after the construction, so by about month 8-9 one of the fence posts moved a bit causing the fence to look crooked and some of the grout on a stone path cracked and was showing some gaps. Jesus promptly dropped by over a weekend, and in a few weeks had his crew fix up these issues at no cost! Hopefully most of the settling has already happened, and we won't need any more fix-ups. The best experience possible. No Bs, no hidden cost and penny pinching on every detail that is not apparent, just honest, high quality and efficient work . Jesus and his dad (Mariano) the team(Lupe, Gilberto, Jesus, Juan, Benjamin, Israel) were fantastic. The work ethic , 8 on the dot, is as incredible. We had many neighbours come ask who they were . It was like an ant colony . Jesus checks in daily, walks the site and will work with home owner ( I asked to do lights, no problem, they ran all the conduits for me) . Too soon to comment on long term of work as they just wrapped up, but they cleaned everything including the furniture before they left. I wish they did construction... We had them trim our overgrown trees.. we'd done this twice before over the years and nothing as through or clean as Zazueta read more

Zazueta did a complete overhaul of my backyard and front driveway. They worked fast and efficiently. Sometimes slow to respond to messages but they get to it. I appreciated their flexibility and willingness to adjust the plan. However you have to have a designer control their work. We worked with Zazueta Landscape on a long and complicated backyard renovation, complete with retaining wall work, full-perimeter fencing, concrete pouring, deck-building, tree-trimming, and a large amount of planting, lighting, and irrigation. We also had many visits to the SF Dept. of Building Inspection, and Jesus Zazueta was by our side for all of those visits. His father's longtime experience was also a great asset. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant partner in our renovation and landscaping process than Jesus. He was kind and courteous to the end, came up with many time-saving and great design ideas, and he has a strong and respectful relationship with our landscape architect and planner. His crew is just as kind and polite, and they were all a pleasure to have around. We look forward to working with them again soon on some additional, smaller projects. Zazueta just completed landscaping our home in Palo Alto after we filled in our pool. They worked with our designer and us to settle on something that could fit our budget while including the water features, planting and lighting we wanted. They were clear up front on the timing and cost of all the aspects. When the inevitable surprises came up, Jesus worked with us to identify the best way to deal it, and then followed through on the details. Although it took a bit longer than any of us expected, the extras were costed out and agreed up front, and fairly priced. I recommend them highly. read more

Wow! I can't believe no one has reviewed Zazueta Landscape yet! This family operated team has been taking care of our yard since 2010. They do our weekly maintenance and have done several larger landscaping projects for us. Jesus, his dad, his brother and the whole crew are honest and extremely hard working. We got an estimate very quickly. We had to wait a couple of months for the work because Zazueta is in high-demand. The crew showed up on the date we arranged. They came every day until the job was finished. Every day, they cleaned up before they left. They did excellent work installing a decomposed granite patio and parking strip. They put in new sod in our backyard and planted many plants. Jesus even met us at the nursery to help us pick out the best plants for our yard. There were no hidden costs. Zazueta Landscape completed a full renovation of our front and back yards. They installed a new driveway, hardscape, landscaping, fencing, electrical and irrigation systems. We learned of the company from a referral from a friend who had work done by them. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to work with Jesus and his crew. The work they did transformed the landscape of our house into something beautiful that we are very happy with. When we first met with Jesus, he was very attentive to our ideas and helped us to focus our vision for our project. He provided a clear timeline for a six week project and stuck to it. Jesus was very helpful with the planning of the project and was able to provide design plans. He worked with us to source materials and even met us at different businesses to help in the selection process. Working with Jesus and his team was great. Everyone was professional, courteous and showed up to work when they said they would. The project turned out great and we could not be happier with the results. We had Jesus come to our house to give us an estimate on a landscaping project. We made an appointment and he showed up and we spent time showing him everything that we wanted done. He said he would contact us with a quote. It's been 2 weeks since then and we have called him 4 times, left 2 messages and sent 2 emails and have had no response from him. We met with Jesus from Zazueta initially before we had our landscape design. At that time he seemed very honest and suggested a designer that he usually works with. After meeting his designer and several other designers that he works with we found there was not a good fit. But Jesus asked me why i didn't choose his designers and asked me to call back when the design was done. We completed our design with our designer and asked Jesus if he was interested in bidding. You will never find a more conscientious, hardworking, professional and considerate company!. I hired Zazueta Landscaping to clear a 30+ year overgrown, 1/2 acre hill lot in Belmont,including pruning and topping many 40'+ oaks. They also built a beautiful fence (over 500') around the lot. They did an exceptional job. Jesus walked the lot with me a number of times during the project (almost 2 1/2 weeks) to make sure the trees were being trimmed to my satisfaction, and show me that everything was going well. And the trees that hadn't been pruned in over 15 years looked great. Not a single one looks 'butchered' or unnatural, but he also managed to give us and our neighbors glorious views by taking the trees down about 25%. He and his crew also worked very well with keeping the VERY inquisitive (and picky) neighbors happy too. His pricing was very reasonable, and they are fully insured and he pays his crew a good wage. He also finished on time including adding a staircase onto a deck. I will continue to use Zazueta (and referring them) for all my landscaping needs. read more

Zazueta Landscape has been doing my bi-weekly yard work for 4 years, and I am very satisfied with the work Jesus, Carlos, and the rest of the family members have done for me. Every once in a while, I asked them to do some extra work, they always gladly agreed, without any complaint. For example, during the time of drought, I re-routed my sprinklers one foot toward the interior of the front yard so no water would spray into the sidewalk, but I did not do it very well, and they helped me finish the job in a professional manner. Since then the sprinklers have been working just fine. They have other jobs on their schedule after finishing mine. Therefore I try not to mess up their schedule too often.
