Ordered Zea on Uber and for the price, what a letdown. The pasta was the low point. Heavy, and barely any chicken in it. My daughter got the chicken fingers, the one thing kids eat anywhere, and she wouldn't touch them. I tried to finish them and couldn't. So greasy it tasted like the oil hadn't been changed in a month. It wasn't all bad. The grilled river trout was actually good and the mashed sweet potatoes were solid. But the Thai green beans were skinny and dried out, no flavor. For what we paid? Not worth it. A couple okay dishes don't save a meal where the kid's plate went straight in the trash. read more

We did Sunday lunch at Zea today and had our usual quality experience. Zea really never disappoints and today we had dinner salads and the Mediterranean hummus appetizer. Service was excellent and the vibe featured the somewhat upscale, but comfortable, ambiance that we appreciate so much. Zea is supported by a full bar that features an array of specialty cocktails, all the expected standards, and a good wine list. Nice desserts are also available. Recently we went to Zea Rotisserie and Bar at 110 Lake Dr, Covington, LA 70433. To get me to write a review you really had to earn it. That could be in an exceptional way or in an exceptional failure way. They earned the latter unfortunately. We did frequent this location over the years, then the quality and service went down so we stopped going there for about a year or so and this year, 2026, started going back. First visit back was good, they had a great lunch special, the food was decent and after we told them with a 1/2 empty restaurant to not seat us in the bar it was fine, so they would have gotten a 3.5 on that one. The next time we went back, second time back, there was a woman panhandling in the parking lot claiming to be an impoverished artist, apparently, she frequently panhandles there and harasses the patrons. The manager was aware and the staff knew her well, so that didn't start that visit off well, but the food was decent and we had a decent server so again maybe a 3 because of the issues trying to get into the building and that being an ongoing issue. Third time back, restaurant had 2 decent sized parties not huge, maybe 8 or so people in each, but not super busy for a Sunday crowd either. Our server had a hard time even taking the drink order, which was 2 sodas'. We placed our food order then sat there for 45 min, someone else about 30 min in brough my side salad, which was decent, our server and a few others were congregated on a corner booth. Our food came out around 50 minutes (a sandwich and a burger) it had clearly been sitting for a while it was cold and overcooked, and the sandwich was completely wrong. At that point we had it and left, third strike and 1 star. To get a comparable experience you can buy some cheap take-out that's wrong and cold, stare at it for an hour , ignore yourself then throw it out and waste time and money. But if it were me I would just take a hard pass and go elsewhere. If a restaurant at around $20 for each sandwich cant handle 2 sandwiches and 2 sodas that's telling. read more

The food here was so delicious and tastes so fresh. I got the shrimp and grits, definitely ask them for blackened shrimp instead of fried. It was more "classic" and super well seasoned. Grits were cooked perfectly. The service was good, the establishment seemed fairly new so things took a second to come out, we came on a busier night, and our server was really nice. The restaurant is beautiful and right next to Target so perfect before or after shopping. read more

The food is okay, always seems to be a slow day no matter the day of the week. Ive been in 3 times over the last few months and every visit I have extremely inattentive service. Tonight I ordered my bar drink and dinner at the same time hoping to speed the process up and had to call for another server in regards to my drink. My server was standing at the well next to my drink having a conversation with someone she knew personally. I know this because I was at the booth that faces the well and her response was "Oh yeah your drink!" Overall would rather go somewhere else. read more

Again, Zea's brings together family. It is been a few years since my review. My sister, cousins and I met there to reunite. Nothing has changed from pre Covid til now. As always the food is amazing. It doesn't matter what I try. The flavors are a culinary experience. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating to our specific needs. We sat for several hours never feeling rushed to leave after eating. It is never very loud in the restaurant therefore we can hear each other talk which makes the experience nicer. We had our luncheon there for my nonprofit organization and it was great. From calling to set up the room, to closing out the bill. The room was ready when we arrived and I did arrive a little early. The accommodated my limited menu I put together and the manager even helped me out with a little something I needed without hesitation. The server, Brandon, was great. He did an amazing job to say he served 11 of us and worked the bar. Even made me a drink that I requested. The food was hot and delicious. Some people had ribs, some had the chicken, burgers and some of us had the trout. The bread pudding that some ppl ordered was humongous, I thought it was a little to big and kinda dry. You might need the sauce on it. I tasted one without the sauce. The brownie was good but it probably would have been better if it was hot. Restroom was clean and smelled great. I work nearby and many of my coworkers eat here regularly. I had been once and liked the apps we shared, but it was business. Husband and I came after a funeral and for a change from our usual spots ( Times, Tap Room, Albasha). Atmosphere was ok- kind of quiet, yet all employees seemed very busy. Our server was exactly that- a server. Our waters and tea stayed filled, but there was no friendly conversation about the weather.... or anything else! The food was very good! We wanted the cauliflower appetizer, but they were out. We ordered hummus. It was priced at $15.95. Our waitress asked if we wanted cucumbers with it, I said yes assuming it was included. Yet, that added an extra $4 for half a cucumber. It was good, but not worth $20! The Thai ribs - AMAZING!! I rarely eat meat, but my goodness. We ordered almond chicken salad, ribs, corn grits, and braised collard greens. Everything was delicious! We'll be back for sure, and hopefully cauliflower will be back also! Perfection came in a stack of ginger-soy ribs and a bowl of yellow corn grits. It truly filled the hungry traveler's belly. A row of shrimp lined up with a side of bacon and greens solely for my fellow diner's culinary enjoyment! Those greens could have been a meal by themselves. It's a 5-star kinda night. Either that, or it's been far too long in between nights out. Thanks, COVID. But hey, it's Zea's; consistently making this old dude fat and happy for many years now, and hopefully many to come. We have our staples here, like most people - Roasted Corn Grits, Thai Spice Ribs...all good stuff, always delicious. Tonight, though, we added a ribeye to our dinner and were very, very happy about it. Cooked to a beautiful medium rare, the cut of meat was very good and ate like a much more expensive steak. My group of 7 had a birthday lunch here on Dec. 9. Service was awful. Our waitress disappeared for long periods of time. After ordering, we waited an inordinate amount of time to get our food. Other tables were coming and going. It was as if our order took an hour to even get processed. Eventually, she never came back, and we had to ask for assistance from someone else. Five of us ordered the lunch Thai Ribs, which are usually very good. Four of those had four nice, meaty ribs of good size. One dinner had three tiny ribs with hardly any meat (you know, the very end of a very small rack). The kitchen used no common sense whatsoever. If one end of a rack of ribs is much smaller than ALL the rest, then distribute those smaller ribs evenly amongst several people instead of giving one person the short end of the stick. It seemed like the manager brought out the food, and I don't know how he could not see that one dinner was twice as small as everyone else's. Suggestion to the manager -- tell the kitchen staff to use some common sense when preparing the plates. If one end of a rib rack is extra small, don't just give all of those to one person. All of the ribs are cut in singles, so there is no excuse for this. I can tell you that ONE of us was not a happy camper. read more

Came here during the latter portion of lunch and was utterly disappointed in the service received. Learned to just keep driving down the highway for lunch elsewhere. Like previously stated, I had came in during the latter part of lunch so the crowd was definitely dwindling down. Ambience was a little noisy but what else can you expect during lunch time right? So let us start with service. Was sat down by my host who reluctantly tossed the menus in front of me despite be reaching to grab them from her. Didn't think much of it as she probably didn't see my hand. Server would then avoid my calls, gestures or even requests the entire time I was dining there. Requested napkins - never got them despite the (4) times I politely reminded him. Needed a refill? Got it once from another server who happened to be passing by, but when requested to my server - nothing. Not finished halfway through my lunch - let's drop the check between the customer and his plate. Had it not been that I observed that he would treat other dining patrons the complete opposite of me then I wouldn't mind as much. Other tables were getting full service - refills, napkins upon request, check ups and even some sort of interaction! Food is consistent from when/wherever I had it. Thai ribs with potatoes is a delight to have but definitely messy with the grease and Thai sauce. Would have been better had my drink been refilled because I made the poor choice of having fries and another rather salty side. Overall, it has been a while since I dined at a Zeas, but this experience has served as a reminder that you shouldn't decide on an establishment based only on the food, but the service as well. Was around the Covington area and on an empty stomach. I've been to the Zea's in the west bank of New Orleans a few years ago, but I remembered it being pretty good. The atmosphere was very chill and packed, but not enough to where our party had to wait for seating. I was wearing a polo, but the place was shivering cold the whole time except for when I was having my meal. I didn't catch the name of our server, but he was cool that I could vibe with him. Not constantly checking on us, but a decent amount that it wasn't a bother. Food came in a timely manner. It was about 7pm and I haven't eaten that day so I forgot to take pictures. I had the limited asian almond shrimp with a side of grits and sweet mashed potatoes, while my friend had the full Thai ribs. Overall, finger licking good. First visit- understand this is a chain with other restaurants in the area. I love shrimp and grits so had to try theirs. The grits were tender (nice add of some bits of corn which was a nice addition). Plenty of shrimp. They have Paul Pruhomme's andouille sausage and it is served with a étouffée sauce. Very interesting taste. You should try it. My wife had the "tender pork roast" with steamed broccoli and squash. Vegetables were outstanding. When you say tender - I think of cut it with a fork tender. This was not fall apart tender. The rosemary garlic glacé we thought was a bit overpowering.
