The food here has a lot of cajun pasta specialties which was an interesting twist. They did have a red beans and rice special on Mondays so that is what I ended up ordering. That dish was so/so as it was a little bland, not much flavor. I did also get Some gumbo which was really good! We also got some charbroiled oysters for starters. They did a really good job as they tasted great! We did get some shells while eating but our whole visit no matter where we ate, there were shells this week. The place looks great inside but is not very big inside. Plus, it can get pretty loud in there. For some reason and don't ask me why lunch today here was incredibly good. The catfish was cooked perfectly the shrimp sauce over the angel hair was delicious. The gumbo couldn't have been better and the fried shrimp were hot and tasty. Excellent job. read more

My husband and I always seek out locally owned restaurants when traveling, and we were delighted to discover this hidden gem last night. We chose to sit at the bar, where we enjoyed a couple of drinks along with the chargrilled oysters. Having tried them at many places, I can confidently say these were the best--perfectly balanced with garlic, cheese, and a rich smoky flavor. We also ordered the stuffed blackened redfish (a special not listed on the menu), topped with a creamy crawfish sauce and served with crab-boiled potatoes smothered in the same sauce. Every bite was exceptional. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the restaurant itself was very clean and well-kept. The best chargrilled oysters!! Every time we go we are always impressed and they are a great size. Also the boiled shrimp salad is great. Get it hot!! Old house in downtown Covington that was converted into a restaurant. Monday through Friday there are specials to choose from and the lunch specials were very filling. The gumbo had a kick but not too bad. The hush puppies were so warm and perfectly cooked. The service was quick and helpful with the exception of the front desk greeter that was having a bad day or not sure. I had the gumbo and po boy shrimp sandwich and it was loaded with the right amount of shrimp. One person ordered the eggplant ponchatrain and it was so soft and delicious. My spouse and I enjoyed a midweek lunch at New Orleans Food & Spirits in Covington. The restaurant is adjacent to downtown and it's pleasant traditional exterior is further enhanced inside by its contemporary but charming dining and sun rooms. The menu offers a number of southern Louisiana favorites, plus sandwiches, salads, and pastas. We had heard that the muffuletta was very good, so that's what we had. There was a special for a half muffuletta with gumbo and it was indeed excellent. Be advised that a half muffuletta is still a LOT of sandwich. The gumbo was also quite good. Service was rather slow, and perhaps somewhat inept, but friendly and welcoming. However, they were a little busy. We had no room for dessert, but several sounded especially tasty. Most notably, the white chocolate bread pudding. We will return to try it! read more

Went for dinner on Friday Oct 10th. My girlfriend and I sat in the glass patio area. The food was excellent, we had onion rings and the stuffed redfish with cream sauce. My family and I ate at the Metairie location a few days ago and it was delicious. So, my husband and I ordered tonight from the Covington location and was very disappointed! I ordered the Spinach dip and it was so salty and not nearly as good as the one in Metairie. Also, they charged $13 for it and you get less than half a container. Very disappointing. The grilled chicken in my salad was very dry. I will go to Metairie next time I have a craving for NO Food & Spirits. :( read more

I've been going to this location for over 10 years, it's always a very relaxed atmosphere. When they're busy, the wait time can be pretty long but ultimately it's worth it. Their crawfish rolls are by far the best thing on the menu. read more

Tucked away in a corner of Old town Covington, it looks like an old house from the front. Once you get inside, you can see that it has been greatly expanded. We were seated quickly, service was very quick. We took a while to make up our mind what to eat, but the server was very patient with us. We did not feel rushed at all. There is a limited wine selection, but the price for a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was only $24 which was a nice surprise. Oysters on the half shell were fresh -nice and salty. Grilled redfish was fresh and wonderfully seasoned. Swamp pasta was a hefty helping of Gulf shrimp in a surprisingly light but flavorful garlic cream sauce over angel hair. It's a lively place with a bar in the front and you walk past the kitchen to get to the dining area in the back. Amazingly reasonably priced. We will definitely be back. read more
