Thankful to have made an appointment beforehand, apparently they accept walk ins so there were two men waiting inside the lobby just in case we were a no show and sadly were turned away when we arrived, not sure how long they were sitting there for. Anyways, the massage was actually good, my friend and I opted for the 90 minute full body massages which were pretty affordable for the length of time ($110). I actually fell asleep twice which is a good sign lol. The main issues I had were with the noise levels. Instead of it being soothing and quiet, the masseuses kept stopping to answer the phone during the massages (in the room) and were having constant conversations with each other (occasionally laughing). I don't think with all of the interruptions that it was actually a 90 minute massage, probably closer to 75 minutes. I think Zen could benefit from hiring a receptionist. While they apologized for all of the noise when we were leaving, it sounds like from other reviews this is pretty normal. If I can write a zero star I would!!!! This is the worst place I've ever been to! Paid upfront AND tipped them for 60min massage. Barely got 40min. Kept getting interrupted. Got 2 people massage, both ladies kept talking to each other. One lady was sooooooo loud. She would scream from our room every time door alarm rang. Agreed to one hour of four hands on the futon. Their web site has photos of four young asian women but I don't believe any of the ones in photos work there. The two women who did my massage were not all that attractive. One of them did a decent job of massaging my back and legs. The other one rubbed me with one hand while she was on her phone with the other hand for a half hour. Then she worked on my head for five minutes and disappeared. I will not be back. read more

We bought a Groupon for a massage here and decided to try it out. Three of us went and overall enjoyed our expierence. We arrived early but they were able to see us right away. We started with a quick sheet of paper asking for personal information and where you had pain. We did the 60 minute massage with cupping. They started with a massage and it was hard! If you are sensitive tell them beforehand or it'll be painful. The cupping expierence was pretty minimal in comparison to other expierences I've hard. The cups were placed but never moved around, which wasn't a huge deal. Ended with a small glass of water and out we went. read more

First off, I enjoy a good deep tissue massage and appreciate it when quite a bit of pressure is applied. I've tried a few different massage therapists at Elements Massage and Massage Envy, but decided to try out this location. It's the best deep tissue massage I've ever had! I'm a regular customer now and the quality of the massage seems to get better each time. I play the violin and often get a tense shoulder - but the therapists here are very attentive to recurring pain areas like this and really know what they're doing. If you're looking for a deep tissue massage in the Twin Cities, I'd recommend this place every time. At the time of this post, there seem to be a couple of low ratings that comment about the professionalism of this establishment. Here's the deal - If you're looking for a country club atmosphere and are willing to pay the premium price of being pampered at a resort spa with all of the bells and whistles, then you should probably go there instead. But if you're looking for one of the best damn deep tissue massages in the area at a good value, this is hands down the place to schedule an appointment. read more

I bought a Groupon for this location as it had some good Groupon reviews and was super close. Making the appt was a nightmare. They asked if I had a Groupon and every day I requested they would only see me at 930, because I had a Groupon. I had to call & reschedule and at that point the only appts they had were at night... I just couldn't win. It didn't help there was a major language barrier, which always seems worse over the phone. I showed up to my appt 5 mins early and there was only 1 person working and she came out of her massage seemingly annoyed I was there. When she was done with that massage, she came out and insisted on getting the Groupon details upfront. The massage was crap. Nothing a two year old couldn't accomplish but she lathered me in oil, it was horrible. I wanted to go shopping afterwards but had to go shower. She rubbed her hands up and down my spine, did some shaking of my back & used her elbows in my tight butt muscles. She didn't do anything with my neck and I never turned over. 5 mins into the massage she kept saying that I was so tight and needed to come back every week. I just agreed so she would maybe start a massage at some point. The appt was for an hour. She came in late, left the room multiple times and ended early. This establishment is under new management so any issues regarding Groupon do not apply; they don't offer Groupon discounts. I have been going here (and to their previous location) for several years. I bought the Groupon dealing thinking this was a different Zen massage place that was actually located in my area. After finding out it was at a different location, I was perfectly fine with making the drive. Making an appointment was very easy --- just called and booked the next week for a couple's massage. HOWEVER, upon arrival we arrived 15 mins early because we figured we'd use the restroom and fill out the paperwork that they normally have you fill out. The employee seemed rather irritated/annoyed that we came in early. I told her we knew we were early and that we would wait. Afterwards we went into the couples room and got undressed. This is the first place that basically only had a small towel that covers you. I kind of felt vulnerable LOL. During our couple's massage my boyfriend's masseuse literally got up and left more than 3 times and one interval being more than 10 mins as my boyfriend looked up and back at the clock. Mind you they didn't even introduce themselves when they walked in. I get that life happens and if they were the only two staff available, then they should have added on the time onto our massage. We were scheduled at 2PM they walked in at 2:05PM and they ended up 3:05PM. I'd understand if my massage was over, but my boyfriend's massage basically missed a chunk of more than 10 minutes. While the end of our massage they were speaking Chinese as if we weren't there. The part of the massage where she snapped the towel off of me and told me to flip over while I was basically naked had me feeling super vulnerable (tits out and everything), because usually other places they have a long enough blanket/sheet where you can just turn underneath. This isn't our first massage and we normally don't book through Groupon deals, but it is what it is. *We did leave a decent tip as in 15-20% because it would be rude not to. We have family and friends that work in the industry of relying on tips.* I just really hope they don't do this in the future. We came out not feeling as relaxed as we could. I felt so bad for my boyfriend, because I was really hoping this was something that he could enjoy. This place just really needs to have communication with their customers. For example, entering and telling us your name. What you're gonna do and what is going on. If you have to leave the room, then please tell us. We can't read minds and we know life happens. read more

Even provided the required credit card information to hold an appointment. Received a confirmation e-mail a few days in advance. Called the day of and was told my appointment did not exist and I had to come back another time. Even after I insisted I had made an appointment online and it was confirmed, I was told I did not have an appointment, and someone else did who had called in. I had to reschedule for two weeks later - I didn't want to risk cancelling when they had my credit card information and said there was a $30 cancellation fee (when THEY cancelled my appointment to begin with) Will give another star if massage is good; will not return. UPDATE 05/06/17: I was called to confirm an appointment today - which I did not have - I had rescheduled for next weekend. The woman I spoke with on the phone was very unprofessional and kept repeating "Oh my God, you have an appointment today". I told her no, I did not and I know I scheduled it for next weekend and quite frankly this has been a horrible experience and I want to cancel everything, and will be canceling my Groupon. And all she could say was Oh my God, I know you have an appointment today, next time you need to call to confirm. Rate would be ZERO stars. I paid for a 90 mins session, but the entire massage was almost always interrupted by a walk in customers and incoming phone calls. When a walk in came through the doors, the masseuse would pause, stop, and walk out of my paid session to meet the need of that individual(s). The phone would ring, and she would walk out to talk on the phone. Countless times, after touching the doors and shaking customers hands, she would return to the room without sanitizing or washing her hands to continue my massage, all of which was very unsanitary. I would give Zen Spa 0 stars if I could. Zen Spa is one of the WORST experiences I have ever had and the most terrible customer service. Here is my story: On March 8th, I made an appointment for a couples massage for this past Saturday (3/18) at 2 pm. My fiancé and I planned our day around this appointment as we had been looking forward to this relaxing time for over a week, but when we arrived at Zen Spa our experience was anything but relaxing. We walked into Zen Spa at 1:55pm and moments later a man walks up and asks if we have an appointment. I confirmed that we did at 2pm to which he replies that we would need to wait a bit. When I asked how long he told me an hour as he had a walk-in appointment come. Shocked by this disrespectful answer I asked why would he take a walk-in appointment at 1:50 when he knew that we had an appoint 10 mins later. He told me we can wait for our massages at 3pm. Still shocked by the disrespect of this business my fiancé and I decided to go grab some lunch while we waited. On our car ride we discussed how terrible that man treated us and decided that we should call to confirm he would for sure see us at 3pm if we were to be there at that time. I called Zen Spa, where the same man we dealt with in person answered the phone. I asked for him to confirm that if we were there at 3 pm that he would for sure take our appointment. The man said he needed to "check". At this point I am fuming; you need to CHECK?? Are you kidding me? We had an appointment scheduled over a week in advance for 2PM. When the man gets back on the phone from "checking" if they could take our appointment at 3m (an hour late) he tells me that they are busy all day and I should "come in next weekend". ... I could not make this up; I mean, seriously?? I have never seen such terrible customer service. Now I am irate from such a terrible experience with such a rude business. I made sure the man knew that I was the same person who had the appointment at 2pm and not a new walk-in. he confirmed that he knew it was me and told me "if you don't want to come back next week then cancel your Groupon". I did just that. Canceled my Groupon and filed a formal complaint towards Zen Spa, who is clearly scamming the good business of Groupon. Normally, I am much more understanding when it comes to businesses but I must admit that this is the most dysfunctional and disrespectful company I have ever had an experience with. This is my favorite place for a massage and the only place that I will go! They are always very kind and welcoming, the Spa and massage room is very clean, quiet and comfortable. I have had 2 neck/cervical fusions and have chronic pain. I have been going to Zen Asian Spa for several years, every 3 weeks, and it's the only place I will go! I highly recommend :) read more
