I had a great experience at Zen Nail Lounge. I have been looking for a nail salon with great service in Indianapolis. Zen Nail Lounge was amazing! I was quickly greeted when I walked into the lounge and waited about 10 minutes before being taken to a pedicure spa station. The nail technician cleaned my cuticles, gave me a nice leg massage, and painted my toes beautifully. They have tons of polish colors of great quality. This place was very nice and had great service! They also JUST got their liquor license and had mimosas available and wine :). I was very happy with the service here. $30 for a basic pedicure, I got a paraffin wax pedicure and my friend got the hot stone pedicure both for $40. I made an appointment online with a certain person who was recommended and went in for the service I'd booked. The man who provided the service seemed disinterested to say the least and I could hardly imagine the person who recommended him would have done so because he was not very customer service oriented in my opinion. Yes, there could have been a language barrier along with the fact he was so soft spoken I could barely hear him let alone understand what he was trying to say with a mask on. I stopped him a few times to extend my personal preferences towards the services being rendered; little things like, oh you didn't file my nails you only cut them, may I have them filed? And oh my nails look uneven can you fix that? It's a pedicure. I've had them before and to my recollection I've never had one where the nails are not filed because simply cutting them makes sharp edges, and everybody knows that whether you're a professional nail technician or not! Omg. Anyway he continued with the service and gave me an almost unnoticeable unenthusiastic leg massage. Ugh. Okay so he finished with part one and I went to the manicure chair. He proceeded with the process and didn't provide the hand massage which is highly appreciated by most when receiving this service, am I right? I looked at him like "are you finished" and then asked if I wanted a hand massage. Um. Yes. As a matter of fact, I do. He gave me the same unenthusiastic approach for the hand massage as I got on my legs and feet for the pedicure but this was even more apathetic than the leg massage. He acted as if it was a chore and it showed. I asked his name and it wasn't the same name I'd been referred to He spoke in his language to another man who explained that customers are given to the technician available not necessarily the person they booked with and if I wanted to make sure I had the person I actually requested I'd need to call and make sure they're available when I booked the appointment. What? Really? What's the point of requesting an appointment with someone if you can't have them perform the service? If that's the case they should state that on the website when you book an appointment. A simple statement that warns that you may not get the technician you requested unless you go through another process of calling or texting the salon to make sure you get who you asked for. I just said okay, whatever. The experience was less than expected for the money I paid. Times are tough for most of us and booking this service was extravagant and very much anticipated for me as I don't do this often and wanted to be pampered. My experience was mediocre and with so many salons to choose from in Broad Ripple and the surrounding areas, even though this one is close and convenient, that probably won't be a priority in the future. To be fair, the manicure and pedicure was acceptable but the experience was totally lacking and forgettable. read more

I have recently moved to the Broad Ripple area with my husband. I've been looking for a new nail salon and was hopeful this would be the one. I live only a few blocks from this salon. I made an appointment for Sunday at 1pm because I know weekends can get chaotic. I arrived about 10 minutes early and checked in, stated I had an appointment at 1 with Ricky. I was encourage by a friend to get it done by Ricky because apparently he is the owner and does an amazing job. Around 1:20pm I was finally seated to just start my take off. Which is fine, like I stated I know weekends can get chaotic. However, it is a bit frustrating to be waiting 20 minutes just to start your take off when a Mom and her Daughter who were walk in's (didn't make an appointment) get in get in before you. I was never offered a drink, even though everyone else around me was. Still, I was hopeful and staying positive that my nails would look great. Then, about 30 minutes after that, I sat down with a nail technician lady that was obviously not Ricky. I didn't correct the situation (which is probably my fault), but their reviews are so good and it was already an hour into my appointment at this point that I figured I'd give this lady a try. It only went down hill from there. The manicure wasn't the best. I have a lot of skin build up because I am an RN, so I really do enjoy a great mani. The color I picked out was a neutral brown dip for the fall, I was really excited about this color. But once the technician started putting it on the color was translucent and white (not her fault but I wish they knew what their products were like before wasting clients time on them). She tried several more layers and even tried layering different dips to make the color and nothing worked out. She was very frantic at this point and I felt bad for her. Wish someone with a little more experience had jumped in to help, all the other technicians just stared at her. Then she had to remove the layers of new dip and I had to pick out a new color. At this point we were 4 hours into my appointment. I have never had an appointment last this long even when I had a wait or was a walk in. I had a lot planned for the day and figured it would only be 2 hours at most. I picked a black dip because I thought at least I know this color will be what it is. I really didn't want black though. The whole process was very tense from this point on and rushed. She had to keep going back and fixing nails because she'd miss whole areas with the dip. When I treat myself to getting my nails done I really want it to be a relaxing, fun experience. This definitely wasn't it. The owner did try to make up for it by not making me pay, which I appreciated. I still tipped though because I felt bad about all the work spent on my nails. BUT then just the night of having my nails done the top coat started pealing off on all my nails but especially the thumbs. Now the top coat is completely off the thumbs all together and they look matte compared to the rest of the nails (it has only been 4 days since I got them done). I thought about giving this place a second shot and actually going to Ricky who I originally had an appointment with. But these nails have not even help up one day into getting them, so I think keep searching for my new nail salon. read more

This is the best experience I've had a nail salon for a long time. They let me come in at 7:20 for a manicure and a pedicure when they close at eight. I was there until about 830 as they finished me up, but they didn't rush me at all. Still did the hand massage and hot towel treatment after my manicure was done. They did a very good very detail oriented job on my manicure and my pedicure they were easy to communicate with, and very friendly. I will definitely be back. read more

Such a positive experience! Good pedi chairs, doesn't smell like chemicals (even at the end of the day), fast service and super friendly staff. They even offer drinks upon arrival (actually two different people offered me drinks!). (I'm adding to my review and letting you all know that I got dip done A WEEK AGO and this just happened to one of my nails. My last dip at my other salon never chipped and I had them on for a month.) Horrible horrible horrible horrible. If you're wanting to get dip nails done here... don't. I thought I would try this place because it's closer to my house than my normal place. But they have no idea what they are doing. I don't know how they have such good reviews. I wish I didn't have to write this review, but here is my story of my experience at zen. I come in and start to pick out a color and they immediately have me sit down without picking one. Which is fine. He handed me some colors and I didn't want any of those, so he told me to go back and pick out a color. I go pick one out and sit back down. I was waiting there for 15 minutes while he was behind me in a pedicure chair, on his phone, getting comfy, with some AirPods in. He then comes over and asks me what shape of nails I want. I point to the square nails and all of a sudden I see him start to make them pointy. I stopped him and pointed to the square again and said I would like the square nails. And he said ohhh okay okay. He made them pointy AGAIN. I eventually stopped him and said no square please. And he handed me the nail filer to do it myself... I start to do it and he says "ohhh" and takes the filer back. And proceeds to give me pointy nails again.... I was about to leave and have another nail place finish up his job. But I let it fly. The rest of the manicure was a mess. He just had no idea what he was doing. My nails look thin like gel, not thick like dip should be, they have sparkles on some of them(due to the old top coat), they have dents, and the nail is not fully covered with nail polish.. I went home and filed my nails down to square nails. But I was about to just go get them done somewhere else, if only I had the money for that. So let me just save your money... just don't go here. Don't listen to the good reviews like I did. It will be a big mistake. read more

I came to Zen Nail Lounge today for the first time with a friend. I live in Irvington, but can't bare to pay the prices for a downtown nail salon. Zen was able to accommodate us quickly on a Saturday afternoon- with drinks, great added bonus! Helen was kind and so precise with her work. I watched her file and paint and go back countless times to make sure everything was perfect. The salon was clean and the prices were far better than anything I could find at a decent salon downtown. I had a manicure a few months back and it took 2 hours! The person doing my nails was extremely rough and my cuticles were sore afterwards. I swore I wasn't going back, then my friend too is even possible, this time was worse! The person doing my nails was extremely slow and drew blood while cutting my cuticles. Then she tried to the gel nail polish off my skin around my nails with an emery board - which was very painful, especially after cutting my cuticles. It took 2 days for the soreness to go away. My daughter wanted a manicure/pedicure for her 5th birthday and they did a great job. She felt special and loved her nails.

I normally do not take the time to write a post or review, but I felt this experience at Zen Lounge and Nails was necessary, especially for the amount of money that was spent. I have not had my nails done in a very long time and was very excited to have them done. I decided to even do something a little different then my normal gel manicure and chose to do acrylic tips with a gel overlay to add some length. Unfortunately, the result was nothing of the sort. At first it was great and loved the length, but the after the whole process and the filing etc., my nails have zero length and don't look good at all. Not only did my nails not turn out as asked, but I wasn't even given any lotion or attention to the skin outside the nail-bed during this manicure (which I feel like I have always experienced no matter the nail salon). I have attached pictures to show. I hate to complain especially there being bigger problems in the world, but if if you're going to spend $50 dollars, I would expect the service and result to be way better. I am so picky about my nails, and I rarely go back to the same place twice. But Zen has always done an amazing job and I have gone back twice in a row (and I plan to become a regular). I'm very picky about sanitation and I notice things like licenses and sterilized equipment. Both of which Zen has. They sterilize all of the tools that they use and open the sealed pouch right in front of you. I have had two different nail techs and they were both so meticulous and probably noticed things that I wouldn't (again. I'm very picky and this never happens). They take their time and ensure that you get the experience that you ask for. Going off of this, however, make sure you ask for what you want (don't ask for just a manicure and expect them to fit you in for a pedicure too). They are very busy and take their scheduling very seriously. So try not to change what you are having done on the spot, they will try to accommodate, but they can only do so much. Over all, I love this salon and I don't see myself trying anywhere else. read more

There are pros and cons to this nail salon. The pros would be that there is a lot of selection for nail color which is good because everyone will find something they love! Also, they take a lot of time on your nails and don't skip any steps which is great (unless you are in a hurry my apt for dip mani took about 1hr and 20mins). However I am BEYOND irate with Zen Nail Lounge because 2 days later my nails started to chip. After paying upwards of $60 for a dip mani + tip and for it to chip 2 days later?! Unreal. I will also say their time management is awful. They had us standing around in the begging of our apt while two of the employees were on their phone, after 10 mins they proceed to get us started. It's a complete mess. All in all I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. read more

Myself and another friend tried this nail salon out last night. They have a large nail color selection to choose from and their service menu list is also quite large. We went with the basic pedicure which got us the typical polish removal, feet soak, massage, and new polish. We both agree they were a little aggressive when cutting back our cuticles which hurt a little. I would suggest if you're not a fan of that to speak up. I did not have a good experience at zen nails... I had made an appointment and had to wait almost 45 mins to be seen. They apologized which made me a little more understanding but when they went to do my nails they did not do a good job... I kept asking for a round shape and despite asking my lady numerous times she never listened. She also did not polish the sides of my nails fully (my biggest pet peeve) despite me pointing it out. Originally I came in and got dip nails. I asked for matte black, which is admittedly not an easy task. They didn't turn out exactly how I wanted BUT the owners noticed my displeasure and redid my nails for free the next time I came in. They even worked with my complicated schedule due to me being a student in another part of the stare. The second time around my nails turned out perfect. I've gotten so many compliments. If you are needing a dip manicure, this is the place to go. The color selection is top notch and they will make sure you either leave happy or remedy any small problem.
