My husband and I came for a couples massage. The room was quite cramped. The massage rooms were not in a distinct space from the front desk so I heard everyone coming in and out. I wish there was more of an enclosure or a door to separate the front from the back. My masseuse was very nice. My review on the massage itself is mixed. I felt like I was just being lotioned most of the time. The only time it felt like a massage was when she stretched me and walked on my back. I showed up for my appointment and completed a one-page check in sheet about pains, etc. Then I was in my room, undressed, under the sheet in no time. I picked the Tai/Combo massage (from the website: techniques from Thai, Swedish, deep tissue and other styles). I was in heaven. The woman doing the massage rubbed on me, and was up on the table with me a couple of times to stretch and move my body around. It was all wonderful. My hour was up and I felt like jelly. Our stay-cation was excellent but using the GPS to find this place was a little off so we were mins late arriving but we were the first appointment of the day. I booked a couples massage but it was definitely two different types of massages going on. The lady I ended up with was very detached and rushed through my massages not actually working on my troubles areas. My fiancé has a lady that was very patient and possibly new because she was focusing on actually stretching him out and trying to give the best massage of her life. Lol The instructions on how to begin and end the session was confusing. Including how to lay, cover ourselves, or what to do when we were done. The most unsettling thing about the experience was the smell in the room/building. I was expecting essential oils, diffuser, incense, spray something. It literally smelled like Asian buffet or someone was microwaving Thai food the entire time. Which is not ideal for a spa like atmosphere. There also was little to no oil used during the massage and she wiped me down with a wet hot towel not place it on an area of my body. All the good and professional masseurs have left, people that work there now are not very professional. All they do is pour tons of oils and touch your back with no pressure or use their elbow. No idea why but every other couples massage we've had I've left feeling either underwhelmed or disappointed(once I ever stopped the therapist 20 minutes in because it was that bad). The first time we went to Zense I couldn't believe how amazing I felt. I typically get a blended swedish/Thai because I'm a baby and can't take deep pressure but love the stretching. My husband usually goes for more deep tissue/Thai/therapeutic massage and every time we leave he has stars in his eyes. Seriously, just go once and you'll see what I'm talking about. IT'S THAT GOOD. There are two bars, like monkey bars on a playground that are above the massage table. The masseuse hangs from them and massages you with their feet at first. The staff is cheerful and friendly, very gracious hosts, and the massage therapists in particular are attentive and responsive. Zense has been my first foray into Thai massage. Previously it's only been Swedish massage for me. I'm not the most flexible person, and I carry a lot of tension around with me. The massage therapists at Zense target those tight areas, loosening me up and melting away the tension. When I leave, I feel as if I've been through a workout, except there's a feeling of mellow relaxation that stays with me for days after. We did the 90 minute couples massage both times. We talked about just doing an hour this last time, but both agreed that it's worth it to go that extra 30 minutes. I booked for 90 minutes and the masseuse stopped after 60 and said my time was up. I was quite surprised at how quickly my time went and did not realize she ended early until I begin to get dressed. She came back after I begin to dress and apologized for ending early and wanted to finish the remaining 30 minutes. I was no longer interested at that point. This was my first Thai Massage.
