This was a fun place to eat while visiting the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. I enjoyed the orchiette pasta and my Dad scarfed the seafood risotto. Both entrees were delicious. We then had coffee and dessert, the zeppole for me and tiramisu for him. Again, both were excellent and we even got a free order of biscotti. The chocolate dipping sauces were amazing. My group had an incredible dining experience. We all thought our entrees were extremely flavorful. The homemade pasta was a great hit for many. Service was impeccable. This is the first time a restaurant compels me to write a review. The food was bland, the drinks were tasteless, the meats and cheese board was underwhelming. The meats on the appetizer board were not good, the olives were plain, the bread sticks stale, the liver pate tasteless. They sold me the risotto as the best thing ever. It tasted like tapioca; texture was off, the taste was way off, and even after I told them that I still had to pay $25 for it. When I told them about the risotto being bland their answer was to offer me salt. When a manager came and asked about the food, I repeated my complaint and they offered a dessert for it. My 13 year-old niece asked for a lemon tart. They said the sizes were big enough to share. When the dessert came, they brought only one spoon. Waiter was very nice, but it did not make up for a very unsatisfactory and unfulfilling dinner experience. read more

DON'T GO!! My family and I ate here Sunday night, and thought would be great since it's located inside the Gaylord. I had the Rigatoni, it was $22 and something from Olive Garden would have been better- bland nothing that would make me ever go back! My husband ordered the Cavatappi, and was sick the next day. He was there for work, and felt miserable all day Monday & kept leaving convention to visit the restroom! He started feeling pain a couple hours after the meal & couldn't sleep from the pain. He called and reported the food poisoning to the hotel, & requested a refund on his meal, not the whole check. Nothing has happened, they transferred all around, even to hotel security & then kept asking lots of questions.. Seriously it's a $25 plate that made him sick for almost 2 days after, and a place like the Gaylord couldn't reimburse?! We like the hotel, but we decided was much cheaper & better food to eat outside the resort for the rest of the stay. There are plenty of cute restaurants in downtown grapevine with far better qualify and service! read more

I have been to Zeppole several times and the food has always been great and the service decent. Tonight, my family of 4 had an 8:30 reservation. We all ordered pasta dishes-nothing complicated-and did not receive our food until 9:30! Also, they have reduced their portion sizes considerably. My husband ordered the rigatoni, which consisted of 11 rigatoni noodles-yes 11! So, our food took an hour to arrive and 6 minutes to eat. I asked the waiter about the portions because I had just eaten here 3 weeks ago, and the portions were probably double the size of the portions tonight. He said that they just changed the menu and portions today. Not a great experience this time. read more

the food was immensely horrible. but, the chicken was amazing!! if you like taking a phat gulp in the pacific ocean. the chicken was incredibly salty and it was barely edible. the pasta was sub-par at best and there was no variety. don't recommend at all. wine is trash it tasted like it was a $14 box wine from target, no walmart. read more

My husband I wanted to try it because we thought, its a nice hotel, they should have great restaurants, we were celebrating our 20th anniversary so why not. We had a reservation for 7pm on a Saturday night and were able to be immediately seated. When we checked into the desk, we were asked about dietary restrictions which I have never had don't before. I thought that was pretty cool. Our waitress Paige was WONDERFUL. She took the time to get to know us which in turn helped her to recommend things on the menu. We had a fried calamari appetizer that was by far my favorite food EVER. She did suggest a pasta dish to me for dinner, however I had never had veal chop (with a side of pasta) and that's what I ordered. I should have went with her suggestion. The veal was very large in size but extremely bland. The side dish of pasta however tasted homemade. The champagne and dessert that she suggested were great though. So would I suggest it to a friend, the food didn't blow me away, especially for those prices. But Paige and the additional wait staff were lovely. read more

After many visits to this restaurant in the Gaylord our family of four had the best dinner experience tonight. First the restaurant had been renovated since our last visit which has resulted in new furniture and bar and in general a nicer more comfortable dining experience. We chose all of the specials and recommendations from our wonderful servers and each one was better than the last. We started with the fried calamari but that description isn't doing it justice- it included salmon and shrimp and was even enjoyed by our 9 year old. For dinner we had the Cioppino which was by far the best I've ever had with the most flavorful broth and delicious seafood. We also had spaghetti and pizza and both were great. For dessert we had gelato and tiramisu and those were also wonderful. The service was also very attentive and helpful and added to the meal. Overall, we were quite surprised by how fantastic the experience was as we expected a generic hotel meal and this far surpassed that! read more

In a word...WOW! From the atmosphere to the hostess to the server and last but not least, Chef Zeb. We brought a friend here visiting from California and started with the Burrata, that was wonderful, along with a Genovese pizza, (Sam Adams in the dough makes for an amazing touch). The Filet Bolognese takes Bolognese to a whole new level! The fresh lobster and pasta dish as well as the pasta with fresh chicken sausage were great as well. Amazing hearty Italian home cooking! I had the pumpkin ravioli and it was delish! The server and host were polite, friendly, happy and energetic at all times. It was truly a pleasant experience especially since we were dining with a sleepy toddler. They helped alleviate a sometimes stressful situation for parents who try to have a nice meal out. I'll start with a disappointing experience with my hostess, a Russian or Easter European young lady who refused to seat me in the open courtyard seating as I was dining alone. She offered me a bar "seat yourself option" which was crowed with numerous overweight clientele and I was very claustrophobic. Fortunately a waitress by the name of Karen came to my rescue and offered a high top table coupled with attentive service & many great recommendations. I settled for a Tuscan soup (very good) and Salad (Garden Herb, very good) and some delicious warm bread with olive oil, their berry mojito, a Cabernet Wine-@unparalleled", finished with an espresso and cream brûlée (OK taste, a little heavy). That's why the four stars, food was good/great, my service after I was rescued was excellent. BTW, the outside courtyard where I was denied a table, NEVER filled even to 50% during my 1.5 hour dinner!! Management needs to teach their staff how to make better decisions. read more

Great Sea Bass. The Calamari is good too, although it was more than calamari. There was shrimp and scallops mixed in with it. It comes with 2 dipping sauces, one green creamy sauce, and the other, marinara. Both sauces are delicious. The staff are really friendly too. I usually eat at the bar (solo business traveler). There is one downside. They usually close early if it's slow, and it's usually slow after happy hour ends. read more

We met my Mom and her biz partner, who were in town for a trade show, at the Gaylord for dinner at Zeppole. My Wife and the Friend ordered risotto of the day. My Mom ordered a salad. I am on what I call 'carb watch' diet so I opted for Shrimp & Scallop Scampi Cappesante e Gamberi "Scampi". Since there was a separate section for pasta dishes, I figured the linguini, tomato-garlic butter sauce would be a small portion on the side. It turned out that it was MOSTLY pasta with 3...that's t-h-r-e-e shrimp and 2...T-W-O scallops on top of a HUGE bowl of pasta. And this was for $33. That's $33 in US dollars. So a TOTAL ripoff. TOTAL. RIPOFF! It would have been fine for about half that (which at any number of OTHER Italian restaurants in the area is the going rate for something similar-pasta with 5 pieces of seafood. I probably would have ordered something else if the menu was more forthcoming about what was actually being served. If you decide to eat here anyway, bring an armored car with LOTS of cash. It's Italian food. It's not worth it. Go to Olive Garden a few miles away. Or Napoli's in downtown Grapevine. read more

I'm giving two stars because I am in a good mood today, but I would have rated them NO stars if I had wrriten this review on Saturday. So here is my review: Hostess greated us nicely and we were taken to our table when we arrived. We waited 17 minutes before the waiter took our drink order and a total of 32 minutes from the time we sat down until we got our first glass of wine. I'm not for sure what took so long since there were plenty of empty tables. We started off with some steamed mussels, which were not bad at all. By the way, the food was not the issue here, it was the service. Just wanted to put that out there for you guys. We finally ordered...wife ordered the sea bass and I had the New York strip steak. We finished our mussels and sat there for 12 minutes looking around, talking, staring at the ceiling, thumb wrestling and the waiter comes over and asks, "Have you decided what your entress will be?" We couldn't help but to look at each other and start laughing. I mean seriously, you took our order about 20 minutes ago before you brought the mussels out and now you are asking for it again? So now we had to wait longer for our food because the waiter never put the order in. This is Chili's service with high end prices. The food is not too bad, a little overpriced, but the service sucks. The hire college kids that do not know a thing about good service. You cannot charge the prices and deliver horrible service. read more

When In Gaylord Texan resort do not go to Zeppole's, If you do be very careful of how the wait staff are up selling everything without your knowledge, look at the charges and examine your bill thoroughly and make sure you didn't get charged $49 for the appetizer sampler for a combination of 3 appetizers highly recommended, which when you add them up individually it comes up to be only $34. They also offer a salad with your meal which apparently it does not come with your meal and you end up paying $13 for it. Rather than asking if you would like to add a salad to your meal, they asked what kind of salad would you like with your meal?! this used to be the only place we usually dined at when at Gaylord resort, not any more, since they changed ownership and management and the Menu, We waited for our table for 30 minutes after we had made reservations in advance, it took them more than 45 minutes to bring our food, the manager was rude, the food was drenched in salt. If I am paying $169 for dinner for 3 I expect some class, some service and the least of all good food read more

Me and my wife decided to stay in and dine here. We lived in Italy for a few years so we weren't setting our expectations high, especially Italian food in Dallas. We were pretty satisfied with our experience at Zeppole. Our waiter was Italian as well as the sommelier, so they were very knowledgable with the food menu as well as the wine list. The wine list was a pretty good mix of the Italian standards with a few gems, and a few american wines as well. We both decided to go with the bruschetta appetizer and pasta dishes. The bruschetta was solid, you could tell a high quality olive oil was used and the basil, garlic, and tomatoes were done right. Next I went with the Papparadelle, the twist was that it had lobster, which is not typical of Italian pasta dishes, however it was superb. The noodles were cooked perfectly with the right amount of sauce with flavor. It was a great harmonization of tastes and balanced with the right amount of lobster, shrimp, and zucchini. My wife went with the Cinque Terre pasta (Fisuili) in Italian which are twisted pasta and hers was just as good as mine. In true Italian fashion we finished with the Tiramisu which was probably the best I've had since we moved back to the states. The price point is a bit high but that's expected for any restaurant or food establishment in a resort such as the Gaylord, if you were staying at a Disney resort hotel in Orlando you'd probably be paying more. If you're expecting Olive Garden maybe this place isn't for you, especially at the cost, keep in mind americanized Italian food is very different from traditional italian food that is served in Italy and that changes significantly from region to region. Overall we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service for the cost here, we will definitely return in the future. read more
