Ambiance: This restaurant offers a variety of pasta dishes. Upon arrival I noticed that the lighting was dimmed and music playing softly. Open floor offering tables, booths and large party accommodations. Service: The waitress was nice, friendly and attentive. Allowed us to enjoy our appetizer without having walking over to our table excessively. She brought out everything in a timely fashion. Dinner: We ordered calamari as a starter, and they brought these delicious rolls with butter. I was with a group of 4, all of us had a pasta dish. They offer soup or salad to accompany the main dish. Pasta Carbonara: not really authentic, too much like Alfredo sauce. 6/10 Husband ordered The special Tortellini with a light sauce and tons of delicious mushrooms. 9/10 Aurora (allá vodka) on Penne pasta with chicken was great! 8/10 and lastly I ordered the Cannelloni Ripieni amazing and delicious dish! It had tasty creamy ricotta with spinach and beef filling baked with tomato sauce and topped with white sauce then baked to perfection with cheese. 10/10** We did order tiramisu and we thought it was good and would definitely recommend this dessert and restaurant! I came here reading the reviews and expecting good solid food. And that's exactly what I got. It was actually very fantastic. I got my usual Caesar salad and spaghetti when I first tried an Italian place now, and they blew me out of the water. The Caesar salad was very flavorful and big. I could have just ate that and walked away but no I had to have a spaghetti too.. spaghetti with meatballs The dish was very large, the portion was huge. I could only eat Half of it and I had to take the rest of it home. I was very glad too because I couldn't wait to eat it the next day for leftovers The sauce was very tasty. The meatball was a very good size and good texture, everything was wonderful. I actually really want to go back this weekend to get it again because it was just so good. The service was good, the waitresses were very nice. I went at an odd time of day, about 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday, so it was not super busy but it was not empty. I got a to go order because we just moved back after many years but the place seemed just as clean and delicious smelling as I remember. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The prices are still reasonable too. The Alla Cacciatore isn't on the menu anymore due to a misprint but it's still available and it was my fav last time we had it many years ago. If you love bell peppers chicken and cream sauce GET IT! Already ordered before I found out it was still available but I'll be back for it. They have weekly specials that vary. Even though the atmosphere here feels like an exaggerated effort to be traditionally Italian (expect to hear Funiculi Funicula at least once during your visit) I couldn't help but appreciate the effort and even found it kind of quaint and charming. The positive vibe continued after we were seated and promptly served drinks and piping hot rolls topped with butter and a light seasoning of garlic. But, the momentum was lost upon the arrival our appetizer. The fried calamari was unimpressively rubbery and a little too greasy. Then came the side salads with their tomato vinaigrette house dressing. This was simply a pile of mixed greens, I suspect straight out of a bag, with a couple slices of tomato and a lone olive thrown in. Normally this too would be underwhelming, but I didn't mind since the greens were really just a vehicle for the delicious dressing. My pasta alla California with penne had a good flavor mostly thanks to the sun dried tomatoes. However, the sauce was much thinner than I would have preferred and didn't hold all the components together very well. My husband got a Stromboli with everything included. I was immediately envious of his meal as soon as I got a taste of it. The dough was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, encasing just the right amount of pizza toppings and cheese, accompanied by a hearty dipping sauce. Its also worth noting that they don't have a separate kids menu here. We were told that they would serve a reduced portion of any of their pasta dishes instead. Our server was great. She checked on us frequently, and kept our drinks topped up and bread basket filled. Despite the fact that the average rating for the food alone was closer to a 3, the service and prices boosted this to a 4 star experience. read more

While I rarely write reviews for restaurants, I felt the need to write this one since my prior experiences at this restaurant have been for the most part positive until now. This restaurant is very clean and cozy and has a relaxing atmosphere about it. The food is for the most part good depending on who the cook is in the kitchen that day, so it is inconsistent whether you receive a good meal or a mediocre one. Even if it is not up to par, the staff really doesn't listen to concerns and they will talk about you poorly in Spanish thinking that you don't know what they are saying. During the times I have been there, there never seemed to be a manager on duty, only a cook who claims to be a manager. Otherwise, the service is good and the staff friendly. HOWEVER, I have decided not to go back because the culture there has declined. The staff doesn't seem to be interested in fostering a diverse atmosphere where customers from all walks of life can come and be respected and feel safe to enjoy their meal. In the past weeks I have heard staff call diverse customers derogatory names in Spanish behind their backs and they refused to intervene when a diverse customer was harassed TWICE by a group of people with bigoted attitudes. Condoning such behavior sends a clear signal that diverse people are not welcome there, despite the entire staff being entirely Hispanic. Sorry, but there are many other Italian restaurants in the area to choose from that value and respect all of their customers. This restaurant isn't the only game in town. read more

Everything we had here was good. The service was amazing. One thing I didn't understand. We ordered a lemonade, and they only gave us water with lemon.!!! This place is more deserving of a 3.5 with the experience we had last night. We were craving pasta and came in around 8. As soon as we sat down in our booth, the staff were already deep in the thralls of cleaning up the place and doing closing procedures, basically an hour before. We felt so rushed during our meal ): We got the garlic bread with no cheese which was subpar. My partner got the carbonara which he likes and I got the amatriciana. I just had a lovely dinner at Viva La Pasta. I had the chicken piccata. The chicken was tender and well trimmed. It flaked apart without any nasty tendons left. The sauce was lemony and garlicky in just the right proportions and there were plenty of artichoke hearts. The salad was meh at best, but the bread was yummy. The vibe was very Italian family restaurant, red gingham vinyl tablecloths, etc. My server, Isaac, was very polite and attentive. Absolutely would go again. read more

What a great find in Lewisville!!! This unexpected little gem was such a pleasant surprise. Everything from the hostess to the checkout process was wonderful! The food was outstanding! If you want authentic Italian, this is your place!! I had one of the specials of the day, Tortellini Al Forno. The entree was accompanied by the house salad and homemade rolls. The entree portion size was enough for two meals. I'd also like to note that my parents found this little gem and introduced it to me. They have been here now 4 times and shared the Lasagna! Our server, Israel was so kind, quick and made our experience at Viva La Pasta very pleasant. The service from start to finish was top notch! The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated to resemble an Italian eatery. Plenty of seating and even a nice seating area outside to enjoy in the cooler temps! We enjoyed our meals at Viva La Pasta. First, we started off with rolls and an appetizer of Calamaretti Fritti. Then we had the house salad. Then came the entrees. I had the Fettuccine Carbonara, where the thick noodles, the crunchy bacon, the eggs, and the parmesan sauce came together to create a hot and delicious dish. Beginning with service, it was great. Our waitress answered all questions and was attentive throughout our lunch. We chose from the lunch menu and the waitress brought out a couple of nice rolls that were soft and not too flaky. We began with bruschetta that was served with too many diced tomatoes and larger chunks of feta. The sauce on top was much too thick. Might have been better if it was drizzled due to its consistency rather than poured on like gravy. (I did take it home and warmed it in oven which softened the bread and thinned the sauce...much better). Our choices were fettuccini with Alfredo sauce and fettuccini with a pesto sauce. Both came with house salads that were fresh and served with our choice of dressings which were ranch and a balsamic vinaigrette. Pasta portions were generous for lunch. Both of us took our leftovers home. Nothing special about either sauce. Alfredo was fine but pesto sauce was too thick, oily, and too much for the portion size. (At home I made more pasta and added it to the fettuccini/pesto...much better). Maybe these dishes are a preference for some but I like lighter sauces. The restaurant is in a strip center and has a nice vibe with checkered over white tablecloths. Several booths and tables...open for many years. Lunch prices were in the $10-14 range. Seemed to have a local following which tells me that I should give them another visit in the future. (Will probably be more specific about my choices). We had friends bring us here for dinner and I was thankful to learn about this great location for Italian food. When we walked in they had a 50th Birthday party in half of the restaurant and they had just sat 4 other tables before us. They were upfront letting us know that they had just seated a lot of tables, but got us a table. They brought us water, a wine opener (it is byob), and some bread. I can wait quite a while if I have these three essentials. It really was not that long of a wait until they came and got our order, and once we had ordered the food was coming to the table in to time at all. They had a special called Fettuccine Adriatika witch was sauteed shrimp, crabmeat and spinach in a creamy brandy sauce over fettuccine. There was a lot of great looking items on the menu, but this special had my interest from the start so that is what I got. A pasta entree comes with a soup or a salad. I went for the clam chowder which was good, not over packed with potatoes and a great start to the meal. It did taste like they make it using chicken stock instead of a seafood stock which was interesting, lots of chicken flavor. The pasta dish was excellent. The sauce was a nice thickness and had a slight brandy taste. The sprimp were large and well cooked, and the crab meat was definitely identifiable and tasty. I was very pleased with my dish and thought it was a fair value for the price. My wife had Al Pesto Genovese which she enjoy very much. She thought that this was going to be more of a pesto instead of a pesto cream sauce, but she ate the whole plate. This was a great dinner and was very a great value for the the types of food they serve. I look forward to coming back here again and trying some more of their great pastas. read more

We went to Viva La Pasta on Valentines Day evening. The outstanding point of this lovely restaurant is the staff .. every. single. one of them. From our first interaction with Jackie to our lovely server, Claudia and a sweet conversation with Addie. All were so gracious and friendly. And outstanding service! This is such an inviting, cozy and friendly environment. The food is SO good! It was a limited menu but really there was something for everyone. We had the chicken piccata and shrimp scampi, lobster bisque, caesar salad, chocolate mousse cake and raspberry cheesecake. All wonderful! You will not be disappointed. read more

Hawaiian Pizza 2 nice size and toppings but it was cold and crust, sauce and cheese was low quality and ruined it Lasagna 0 Nasty and low quality like frozen ,99 bun Spaghetti 2 it was average. Sauce was not good. Nice size though Tettrazini 3.5 IReasin why I chose to eat here but it was more like Alfredo. I liked the spinach and noodles but the sauce needed flavor and the chicken was cheap. There was no mushrooms but one Rolls 0 so weird tasting. Old maybe Bottle Coke 4 but old I think. I visited VLP for the first time earlier this week for dinner with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed the food and experience. All of our food came out warm and quick. You are served warm bread rolls promptly after you are seated and they were very good. Fresh, soft, and slightly toasted. It had been a while since I was served bread in a restaurant so I was quite happy about it. The rolls were served with butter but I ate mine plain and it was still quite tasty. Another thing I was excited about was that the entrees are well-priced. No crazy mark ups for some pasta, veggies, and sauce (although you will be paying a few dollars more if adding chicken or shrimp). You also get a choice of soup or salad with your meal. My boyfriend got the minestrone soup, which had a nice flavor, and I got the salad with house dressing. The salad and dressing were good (your classic Italian red dressing) and I appreciated that the dressing was put on the side without me even asking! I got the Alla Primavera for my entree with red sauce and I added chicken. I was impressed with the chicken since it was tender and seemed to be the quality of a piece of chicken you might get for an entree and it was well integrated into the rest of the dish rather than just being thrown on top like you might see at some other places. My boyfriend got the Pasta Carbonara. I didn't taste it but he ate all of it and was very full later so it must have been good too. We were very hungry when we got there so I really appreciated the pacing of the meal. Between the bread, the salad, and the entree, there was not much time between finishing something and the next thing coming out! One other thing that I wanted to mention that I don't see at a lot of Italian restaurants, is that you were able to pick what type of pasta you wanted with all of the pasta dishes. Tonight was our first time to try Viva La Pasta in Lewisville. We were greeted very quickly by a friendly host. The restaurant appeared to be very clean and the lighting was just right. Our waiter was very professional and was helpful with all our questions about the various plates on the menu. I ordered the all pizza ingredients stromboli which was really good. The flavor was spot on and the wrap had a good crunch to it. The only thing that was a little let down was that the sauce that it came with didnt taste in house made it had more of a store bought flavor. Other then that it was good. My wife ordered the Cobb salad which tasted very fresh and she enjoyed it. Service for the food was very quick even with the other patrons in the restaurant. Ordered small pizza and trio meal for carry out. When I got home I realized they failed to include the salad which came with trio meal. Extremely small portion of lasagna (2) bites. Cheese tortellini was mediocre. Chicken parm was burned. Literally black on bottom and not edible. The pizza was mediocre. Too much cheese and onions were raw on it. It's like they forgot to put onions on pizza before they cooked it and threw them on at the end. And even then they were huge pieces of onion-they weren't spread around. Never ordered from here but won't again. I never leave reviews but decided to leave one this time. I called restaurant and provided them feedback. They asked me to hold for manager but after 5 minutes of waiting I hung up. Manager called me though and was nice. Offered me free food but I declined and wished him luck. read more

Two days ago I went to Viva la pasta for first time. The portions were amazing and it tasted fresh and great. We craved pasta again so tonight we did a take out. Unfortunately when we got there they didn't have the order ready (asked to come 20-25mins after we went after 35minutes) working in food industry currently and for long time I understand things happen. Which is fine, but after coming home they forgot to place one of the order.... yes, it can happen but it got little frustrating and we did paid for it already. I called them and was told kitchen didn't see the order so it was forgotten. So why give them five star?! Because the whole team made it right after that. Restaurant industry is very under appropriated, so when they do something right I would especially want to thank them. They delivered the missing item to my house and even give free dessert. Hence the picture. I would like to thank the manager would turn my experience around and even the driver who once again apologized. During coronavirus I am trying to support local restaurants as much as I can and growing up in restaurant business and currently working as regional position in corporate food industry. We ate at Viva Pasta for the first time. I guess it was around 3:30 in the afternoon. Not busy. Decor and ambiance was relaxed and softly playing in the background was Dean Martin singing Italian song. We really enjoyed that! The aroma when you walked in the door was amazing. We were seated without a wait in a comfortable booth with a checkered tablecloth. The restaurant was very clean and seemed to be well staffed. We were served buttered dinner roll's immediately and looked over a menu with plenty of choices. I ordered Funghi Pomodoro with spaghetti pasta. After a reasonable wait, we were served. My dish was heavenly prepared. Delicious Italian sliced sausage in a perfect marinara sauce. Portions were generous. Took some home with me. Service was all you could expect. Very attentive but without interruptions. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, this is at the top of my list for Italian food in the future!
