Zero's has always been one of my favorite places to get a sub! It's a Va Beach tradition. The food was pretty much what you'd expect, but the staff is just horrible. I pointed out that they had over charge me and told them that I didn't want any money back... but wanted them to know. I got a lecture from a 19 year old kid about adjustments to pricing because of new minimum wage laws. Seems like the prices in the register are different then what is posted. read more

My family came in specifically because we saw an ad in VB coupon books that they have gluten-free rolls. My mother has celiac and I have moderate-severe gluten intolerance. When we ordered our subs with the gluten free rolls, we were asked if it was an allergy and how severe. Our sandwiches were then prepared separately and given to us separately from the rest of our family's which was an awesome gesture. The food came out quickly and was SO good. It's been a while since I've had a good sub, as many sub shops don't have a gf option. They were all very kind and very efficient. We'll definitely come back next time we're at the beach. read more

After a horrible experience at one of the other franchise locations, someone told me that this location was the only one that is still good. I gave it a shot and yep, just as good as the old days. Went as an after hours snack. Love the "ambiance" and vibes of the place. As for the sandwiches, love the bread. Not too many places have good bread. The ham n cheese was fantastic. The Cubans was "eh" but I'll attribute it to the fact that we went close to closing time so I guess they didn't have much pork left. read more

After a morning of roaming the shops on Atlantic Ave. we were looking for a quick bite and pulled up local eateries. We found Zero's on the corner in what looked like a small, and slightly rundown/outdated building. But what it lacked in sparkle, it more than makes up for with the bright, welcoming art and decor outside the building and the warm and attentive staff. I went with the 17th Street Club with Cheese, their take on a club sandwich using ham, provolone and fresh crispy bacon, not complete without lettuce, tomato, and their blend of herbs, spices and oil. The tickets are printed with a number, although the staff somehow remembered who had ordered what although the small shop was bustling. I was handed two paper bags, one containing my sub, the other containing a heaping portion of thin (McDonald's style), crispy fries. All subs are baked or grilled to order and the sides are cooked to order as well. I waited approximately 5 minutes for my order but it was well worth the wait. The fries were hot and my sub was toasted to perfection, giving a nice crusty outside to the delicious bread. I say that, being a lover of sandwiches, knowing that good bread at sandwich shops is hard to come by. The middle contained plenty of the other bits, and was arranged with care so it didn't fall apart or collapse while I was eating it. I know 5 stars may seem a bit much for a sandwich shop but from the piping hot fries to the melty cheese, they just do everything right. read more

This is a VA Beach staple, as it well should be!! Go ahead and get the grinder because that's about as good as it gets. I swear I get a craving for one of these the second I smell the salty air rolling in off the beach. There are other locations, but I prefer this one. While it isn't exactly oceanfront, it's pretty close and has a cool funky vibe. The people who work here are generally chill and whip up good eats for a steady stream of regulars and tourists alike. The fried onion rings are delicious and really hit the spot after having endured a pretty heady craving for a few weeks. Cool photo ops here for the tourists as well. A big yellow chair outside makes for a nifty insta-worthy snap, and the inside has an easy beachy skater vibe. Don't distress! I'm about as unhip as it gets and I still get a smile to go along with my grinder - take it as it comes for the real experience. Totally worth a visit. Even if it is just to carry out. read more

We live close to this Zero's and we've always had a good result. Today I ordered for my office, and as the result of confusion by us, I thought our order was wrong. Because I was close by, I went back. As I talked to the staff I realized it was our mistake not theirs, and despite that they make me a new sub, and wouldn't let me pay for it! I should have known! Extremely bad customer service. First they got the order wrong and overcharged me because the person taking my order didn't hear me say half subs. So I paid the $35 and said no problem we can have some for lunch tomorrow. Then I waited 40 minutes for 4 subs...now typically I wouldn't mind but I saw 4-5 people who ordered subs after me and get theirs before me. I told this to a gentleman who I could only assume was the owner that I come in there twice a month and all he said he was sorry. That's all....I'm sorry? I got home and my sub was cold...I asked for everything on my sub and only got lettuce tomato and onions....I'm pretty sure everything is well....everything like hot and sweet peppers...banana peppers...I mean how hard is it to screw that up? Well I told him this is last time I go there. You would think if someone is spending $20-35 a month you would offer something in return than an apology. Well I guess he needed the money more than a regular customer. No problem...last time I'll ever order or eat at this location. read more

Delicious subs! I would have happily paid $15 for my sandwich, which only cost $5. High quality bread, fresh ingredients, friendly people.

We have been here several times since we moved here in March.... The last 3 times we have had something wrong with our order.... usually just 2 subs.... the first time I asked for my roast beef cold and pickles which don't normally come with. . Not only was the sub hot... there were no pickles.... took it back and got my sub home and figured they were mad or something as piled high it was not... miniscule 2 pieces of beef and a piece of cheese... asked for no oil and vinegar and it was put on... this last time hubby ordered steak and cheese and I got rb with no oil ... we got 2 roast beef sandwiches with oil and salt and pepper.... we will not be back... it's too bad.... at least they cheerfully hand you the wrong order.... read more

I ate here for lunch. I ordered the full size El Cubano sandwich at the cook's recommendation. It was fantastic. Big crunchy pickles, white cheese melting off the side, and thin sliced ham and pork rounding out the sandwich. For $11 I was completely stuffed with all the food I could handle, free drink refills, and a nice selection of kettle cooked chips, and (for me) friendly and helpful staff. For the second time my "hot" ham & cheese was "cold" in the middle. This was a favorite before they relocated. Something is going wrong.

My daughter had volleyball practice near the store that is usually not in that area. Stopped in for subs to take home, which is 30 minutes away and was given someone else's order. Called and the manager was very apologetic, but could not do anything to rectify the situation and told me to call the owner. When owner was called, he said he does not refund money but he can remake food. It is really not convenient for me to go out of my way to get $14 worth of food for their mistake. Not a place that cares about rectifying his manager's mistake. Manager was more apologetic than owner. No thanks! read more

Decent subs. I've had many great subs in my day and these are pretty good. The sides leave some to be desired (mostly frozen types of fried food you can find at any Sheetz). The subs themselves were good quality. I'd say nothing to write home about though. read more

Rude and condescending people here. I've had the misfortune to have had to get food here on several occasions (not my choice). Order was wrong every time, extremely slow and the owner/managers (?) glared at me as if I was interrupting their day. I hate this site. Other Zero's Subs are not like this. We love zeros! ESPECIALLY this location. Lovely staff and great food. Tuesday's they have a special that I think is 2 of their large subs for $12. You can get chips, beverages, and cookies.
