Ok so I was in a hurry for lunch. Mistake number one. It took 35 minutes to get my sandwich. This place takes its time. They are very nice but very slow and busy. Apparently I ordered wrong because the Philly cheesesteak sandwich was not good and I did not enjoy it at all. It was huge but dry and flavorless. I kept waiting for the flavor and never got there. I was trying it out on a recommendation. I probably won't be back I wished I could say better things but I can't. read more

Ordered from here off doordash. 0/10 Do not recommend. Ordered 2 subs. Not sure if there is a meat shortage, but it appears as such with how it looks like this is a Lettuce Philly. Looks like that ran it through the oven six times, because it was so burnt. The meat was also charred. Contacted doordash for a reorder. Called to the store and someone named Shawn/Sean answered, he told me he was on the remake. I told him about my subs appearance, he followed up with "I saw it before it went out the door..". I would give them a zero if I could... fitting for their name... My 13yo daughter went in to order cheese sticks and the gentleman was an ass and acted like he didn't know what she was talking about. He made her repeat herself 3 times and looked at her like she was an idiot. He was then like oh you mean mozzarella sticks. Guess you can't expect great service, because another customer was up there yelling and screaming about his Philly steak and mushrooms. Quick polite service. Hot and piping subs. My daughter's Philly Steak & Cheese was packed with real chopped up ribeye meat and full of flavor. I ordered a Grub Steak thinking it was going to be chopped up rib eye and it was actually like Steakuhm meat which was still delicious. I haven't had a Grub Steak in years so, that was my mistake. Hampton Roads is my home, where I grew up and where I became and adult. I moved away 18 years ago, but still crave a great Zero's sub. Over the years I have come back to visit, and have gone back to try and recapture that magical sub, but every time I have been disappointed... until tonight. It's been a year since I last tried, and tonight I tried again. The Zero's subs on Northampton Blvd - they did it. They gave me the PERFECT sub, not only did it meet all of my childhood and young adulthood memories, it exceeded them. Thank you! I love their subs. This is another place that has been around for years and you can obviously tell why. Freshly baked bread and fresh toppings. Pepperoni and cheese sub is the best I've ever had anywhere else. Pretty decent set up and this location always seems to be not that busy at dinner time which is nice. read more

We stopped in Monday, May 23rd, 3pm or so, for a quick bite on a trip back home. Interestingly, we asked how the pizza was, and the worker told us the pizza sucked. Ok, then no pizza. She claimed the subs were their specialty. They were mediocre at best. The counter girl, who apparently was training another, was surly, disinterested, and vacuumed the dining room around us as we ate. Unbelievable! Don't waste your time or money. Awesome place even cooler owner. Had the pizza and it was tasty. Not what I expected. Provolone cheese and the same sauce they use for meatball subs. Thin crust and delicious. They say the subs are better but I was happy with the pie. Service was fantastic. Much less crowded then the beach front locations. It's not in a building you would notice if you weren't looking for it, but if you use yelp like I do take a risk and try this place out. They do charge for refills 29¢ but still not enough for me to drop a star. Had to rethink this. Refills should be free dropped the star! =O) read more

Being from Philly, am very skeptical about "subs" and "heroes" from other parts of the country. But the guys across the street at the tackle shop said the food was really good. So we went. They make this sandwich called a grinder, which was a hoagie they put into the oven after it is assembled. It was pretty good, but not stuffed to the brim like a good Philly hoagie is. I own a business and deal with customer service on a daily basis. THIS PLACE OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT! Ordered a sub with fries. Paid for it. The cook in the back came up and stated they had no turkey. I agreed to double the ham. no problem. Then as I am leaving the cook tells me that I get a bag of chips. I told her that I ordered fries. She said the menu online is a basic menu and not all places have the stated items. Ok I can agree with that. My question is why didnt the first person who took my cash tell me that. I told the cook that I wanted to cancel my order because I really wanted the fries. She then said me "I sorry but the sandwich was already made and paid for. Have a nice day.
