I do love a Zero's sub. Warm and toasty with Olive Oil and Seasonings. Conveniently located with a parking lot. They have seating indoors but I always take it home. Came in around lunch and ordered 3 sandwiches to go. I'm not a local but I think the way to do it is to order ahead. Seemed to be alot of orders going out the door with people just walking in and grabbing them. That's what I will do next time. I wouldn't say it was slow service, they were just busy with takeout orders. After we got the sandwiches we really enjoyed them and it was nice supporting a local eatery. I got the Cuban and wife and daughter ordered the Turkey and cheese. Both well received. I wouldn't hesitate coming again but as mentioned above, will order ahead. Enjoy! read more

Owner opened the doors a few minutes early for us since we walked a super long way from our hotel. Great fresh ingredients and great prices. If you love subs this is your jam. I wish they had just a classic Italian sub but I'm sure they would make whatever combo you wanted! I don't think you would ever have a bad meal here. We've never tried Zero's so we ended up here. Upon walking in, it smelled weird and was really hot. While waiting for our food, we have a fan blowing on us and it smelled like onions. There's seating inside but we opted to eat in the car. Staff was friendly to guests and made conversation with the regulars there. I ordered the Turkey and cheese sub without lettuce and tomato. My fiancé ordered the Grinder with everything on it. My sub was OK aside from something spilled on it (smelled spicy) and my lettuce was very warm. My fiancé liked his sub! read more

Since 1967 the original location is no longer, but they have expanded and franchised out of state. Their name recognition is still local to Hampton Roads. I've had a few visits to this location that have been solid and thought it was strange their business listing disappeared. So I have added and expect Yelp HQ to locate the original. When pulling in the tiny lot your greeted by a large VW bus mural by local artist TALENT which is darn cool! The business retains a surfer type atmosphere with roots at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. A recent visit I grabbed a BLT with chips. I received friendly customer service from both staff at cash register and sandwich maker. The price was above chain sub places, but not by much. The beachy atmosphere was small with table and chairs. Everything was clean and inviting for guest. My order was called up in less than 10 minutes. I think this was the original Zero's location. So, I grew up with Zero's as a VB "native" and whenever I get to come back....I always have to get a grinder. Usually I go to the Hilltop location but wanted to try the original location....though I am sure as a kid I went here. Never disappoints....these grinders. Something about them that just brings back the memories and nostalgia....and they are just so good! I called ahead and placed my order. The subs taste good, but the associates are super greedy with the meat portions... specifically the on their chicken and steak Philly cheese subs. They also make it difficult to order because there is no option to order and pay online. The website has an order now option, but it does not work, nor does it provide a full menu and prices. These issues are crucial to keep customers coming back and/or ordering more often. Due to the lack of main ingredients and no online order options, I only eat at Zero's maybe once a year (unless someone else is buying and picking it up! lol) read more

We went to the Volvo Prkwy location in Chesapeake VA 12/9/24. I've been going to Zeros since I was a teen, same with my husband. We hadn't had it in almost a year and when I mentioned getting it for dinner my husband got so excited bc he loves Grinders. I decided to try the Chicken Philly... mine was all bread, hardly any chicken, and the chicken that was on there was so over cooked it honestly tasted like jerky. I wouldn't have cared that much if my hubby at least enjoyed his. He said it was the worst Zeros sub he's ever had. His only had 3 slices of meat on the entire foot long. We don't know if it was that location, the cook, or if Zeros has just gone down hill that badly?! I wrote them about it we will see how the customer service side is. They were supposed to be toasted but brought them out cold, so we asked them to toast them and they brought out the wrong sandwiches. They brought out the correct ones next but still not toasted. They said they thought we wanted them not toasted. Last try we got them nice and toast and they were delicious. They gave us a free sandwich card for the trouble. read more

Zero's on 17th St (aka Virginia Beach Blvd) at Cypress Avenue is a fantastic place for subs. Not sure why they call it "Oceanfront" since it is more than five blocks from the Ocean (you can certainly walk to the Boardwalk). I was there for a pickup order on a Sunday in November 2021 and it was empty. I ordered the greek salad with grilled chicken (hold the olives). I watched them grill the chicken and add spices. If you don't want spices you need to let them know. My salad came with the freshly grilled chicken in a separate container and also the dressing also was separate. I thought this was a nice touch and they did this without being asked. Let's just say there were no leftovers. My wife wanted a steak and cheese sub. It comes with American cheese but I substituted provolone. They toast the roll. The first one came out black and I told them to toss that one. I would suggest letting them know, "lightly toasted." My wife was happy with her sandwich. I have now been to this location twice, and no complaints. read more

Let me tell you about my day. Me and girly rolled up on the Wawa on VB Blvd/1st Colonial with a grumble in our stomachs and a twinkle in our eye, but alas every time girly tried to put in her order the dang machine froze! We moved to another and BAM, frozen computer! She literally shut down the computers with her over complicated turkey sandwich combo! If you're looking for a local joint in Virginia Beach that doesn't break your bank, Zero's is the place to go. Their regular sized sandwiches are super long and very reasonably priced. I got the Cubano sandwich and an order of onion rings. The onion rings were delish! Crispy, crunchy, almost tempura-like batter. The cubano was simple and delicious.
