This company Zest Electric-Luis went to my elderly sister's home and quoted her $7000, to do a $500-800 job of wiring. His reason when my husband and I called him was that he was going to rewire the whole house. When we asked him why he was going to do all of that unnecessary work, his response was that he explained everything to my sister and made the suggestion and my sister said yes. He never explained to her that she did not need all the work he was suggesting. He left her in the dark, when we arrived with generators. Then he said he would be by to collect $200 for his time. I asked if he had made my sister aware of fee's being charged if he didn't do the work and he replied no. I told him not to come near her home or call her ever again. I told would him I would be reporting him and posting about on social media so no others would be not taken advantage off by him. He doesn't even deserve one star, but I was unable to remove it. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the wires he left exposed. It's disgusting to me that people can take full advantage of others, but worse the elderly. We had an appointment for Zest to service our house. The water heater wasn't getting electricity according to the plumber. The wall socket wasn't working. Zest said thay would arrive between 8 and 10 am. Did not arrive. We called and left 2 messages asking what was going on. No response. We called our insurance company who had recommended Zest to us. After we met Luis and saw his level of work, we ask him to come back and light every room in the house. On our first project, he was very careful to warn me about the holes he would have to cut in the ceiling/walls to wire the new lighting. He even surprised us by being able to do the master without making any holes. I asked him to check the crawl space to see if it would be possible to do the two other rooms without the holes and he could so as soon as we could we had him back and of course, we are very pleased. We had errands to run while he did his work but had no problem leaving him to do his thing and trusting he would communicate whatever he needed us. I was referred to Zest electric by a friend. I called the company and spoke to Luis the owner regarding up grading an electrical panel from a one meter to a three meters. I previously had the meter drop assignment and also I have pulled the LABS permits. I was willing to hire him on the spot since he was referred and I already had 2 other bids from contractors without referrals. With this referral I thought he would have been a good choice. Not a small job at a job site. (a 15 mile drive from my location) On Monday 1/3/22 Luis scheduled an appointment for 2 days later 1/5/22 . UPDATE: On the appointment day 1/5/22, 2 hours ahead of the scheduled appointment I called Luis at Zest Electric. An answer phone picked up. I left a message that I was confirming the appointment that he had scheduled in 2 hours. I drove to the site and waited for Luis the owner to arrive. Fifteen minutes after his scheduled appointment time and a NO SHOW I called Luis. This time he picked up, I asked what is his estimated time of arrive for this appointment? I reminded him I called 2 hours ago as a reminder. He replied, "Where?" I again gave the address. Luis's reply was, "Oh, I'm sick!" I was shocked and disappointment. I said, "Now what?" His reply was, "He is sick and not coming!" I asked again, "So now what?" He said, "Maybe next week!" I thanked him and said, "Good By!" Bottom-line: I won't call this company back. I am glad I learned before hiring him that he is a flake and not a man of his word. Or even a good business man to response or confirm appointments. And a NO SHOW! I am grateful I to have learned early on to Zest past this flaky electrician and his way he does business. He would have been a problem though out this job if this is how he starts. He lost a job close to $15,000.00 based on my other estimates. I am so lucky. I needed some electrical work done in my bathroom and called reached out to several local electricians. Luis called me back within 10 minutes of my Yelp quote request and came by the same day to give me an estimate. His prices were very fair and I asked him how soon he could do the work. He responded that he could do it all this upcoming Sunday. A Sunday, really? Most contractors and electricians won't even respond to an email on Sunday, let alone come out to do a job. Sunday fit my schedule perfect and he said he would be there at 12pm. I got a text message at 11:50am telling me that he was 10 minutes away and he showed up right at 12pm as he said he would. Now on to the job he did-simply incredible. I had several electricians tell me that the work would require placing holes in my walls that I would need to patch and repaint. Luis also advised during his estimate that he may need to put some holes in the walls, however, once he completed the job there was not a single hole that was put in the walls that needed to be repaired. No extra repairs are needed on my part which is a huge plus in my book. He did exactly what he said he was going to do, for exactly what he said it would cost-no extra charges. He actually did a little extra work in the attic for some future upgrades and didn't charge me anything extra-Now that is service! I paid him and as he was getting ready to leave, I asked when he could come back and run the wiring and install my Ring floodlight cam. He responded-I can do it right now if you want me to. I agreed to have him do it and 40 minutes later my Ring floodlight cam was mounted and working perfect! And the cost to do it-once again-very fair!!
