The food is always amazing. The ambiance and service sometimes isn't all that amazing, but it's a hole I'm the wall burger place. Hand formed patties that are comparable to a triple or quadruple sized patty from a fast food joint. Everything I've eaten here is great. The quesadilla burger and kontondo burger are our family favorite. The onion rings are hand dipped and you "only" get 4-7 giant rings, but they're totally worth it. I've also had the fried chicken sandwich, other burger styles, and the Philly, none disappointed. My only complaint is they are open til like 8 on week days but close early like 5 pm Saturday. Great burgers! The zest burger is what an all american cheeseburger should taste like...crunchy, juicy, and full of flavor. The portion sizes are gigantic and you can easily share with someone else or save the rest for later. The only thing i didn't like is they add a surcharge on credit card purchases of 3%. We are moving towards a cashless society and it saves the location the work of processing the money, potential loss, and bank runs anyways. Credit card fees are just the cost of doing business and it seems petty to ask your customers to pony up more money and even worse they ask for a tip as well even through the drive through. read more

Eh, it was okay. I enjoy a good family-run establishment but I just wasn't wowed. When I went, everything seemed affordable, but you definitely get what you pay for. I used to love Zesty's Burger until they started not giving me receipts for cash purchases, charging extra to use debit, not giving me kids meal drinks & randomly changing prices. I stopped off here on a day trip for a job in Lufkin. This place is a small shack with a few tables outside to eat at. Most of the folks I saw buying food here went through the drive thru and left. The menu is mainly hamburgers, though they have hot dogs too. I got a cheeseburger, spicy fries, and a chocolate shake (i'm on a diet). I asked for bacon (for the burger), but they don't have it. All this cost me $6. The burger's patty seemed hand formed and fresh, but was skinny. I would have gotten the double for $1.30 more if I knew how small they were. The cheese was put on after cooking (I prefer mine melted during cooking a bit). The veggies were fresh and crisp. The fries were really red (see photo), but not any more spicy than any other spicy fries I've had. They were good, though. The shake was made from soft serve ice cream. It's nice to sit back and watch people from a small town come an order up lunch. I imagine this is a popular hang-out for the high school crowd. read more

I ordered the jr. Cheeseburger and an order of sweet potato fries and they were both very good, fresh, and made to order. The patty for the burger was made with real meat and handmade. I think the people who like Zest-E-Burger are the people who have lived here in town for a while, and probably suffered some kind of sickness that permanently altered their taste buds. The one time I ordered there, the meat was greasy and soggy, the meat had no flavor at all, like cardboard almost. My bread was soggy. I asked for no onions and I could tell they forgot and removed the onions last minute. I could still taste the onion ( so correction, that may have been the only flavor on the meat; cardboard and onions). The staff was rude, as soon as I pulled up. They seemed impatient ( this was well before COVID by the way). The fries, OMG, I could tell they had been sitting a while and just dropped in the grease to heat them up. We ordered a BLT in the drive through. The woman taking our order did not know what a BLT was and we had to clarify what it was and that it was on their menu. We were asked to pull around and wait. As we were leaving my mother got a call at 1:17. We used the time stamp of the call on her phone to keep track of how long it had been. At 1:34 we finally decided to go back through the drive through to check on our order. We stated politely that we had ordered a BLT and cheese tots almost 20 minutes ago and wanted to check on our order. The woman made a comment that it hadn't been 20 minutes but she would check on the order. I understand some people exaggerate about the time sometimes but it really had been very close to 20 minutes. She got our order quickly and we left. My mom went to eat her BLT and there were no tomatoes or condiments. I normally do not write reviews about places but our experience was so negative that I felt it needed to be shared. I will not be visiting here again. Poor food one time is something I can look past and try again, but poor customer service and workers with attitudes will always make it a no for me. read more

I was really disappointed . 1) The lady at the window was somewhat rude. 2) I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with no onion mustard or pickles and she acted as though the world was ending. 3) I could tell the fries were mixed in with fresh fries and old fries, that had just reheated the old fries in the oil . 4) Some fries were lightly seasoned with season salt, some with salt, and some with nothing at all. 5) The burger would have to be the most disappointing. I would have paid if I needed, to get the fries, but didn't get an offer to fill the order she was given and screwed up on. Now the food: Fried pickles okay. They are spears and I prefer sliced. They took the lazy way out to offer them on the menu. The batter stuck to them and they gave a ranch dressing with it. Taste was average. Spicy Fries...don't know thanks to the window person. Bacon Cheese Burger. No bacon, as if that's a shock. Meat was cold, cheese not melted. Taste was average. Could have been better if the didn't pre-cook the burger and then throw it the flat stove to reheat it and melt the cheese. Ate here the first time and got the daily special which was a foot long chili cheese dog. Absolutely horrible. Seems they put cayenne in their chili. Yuck. Zest-E-Burger is fantastic! They have kool aid, banana pudding, the burgers are great, and the few Mexican food items they have on the menu are delicious! Try their ground beef gorditas, it comes with this bean soup (kind of like fideo, but with beans, yum!) that is sooooo good! It's so good, I go for the soup! If you like milkshakes, they make a mean chocolate milkshake. I use the drive thru, and it does take time to make your order via drive thru, but they offer call-in and dine-in as well. read more

Plain is plain, so don't add anything more than what I ask. This place knew exactly what a plain burger was & what I meant when I said meat, cheese, & bread ONLY! The food was fresh and I like to try fries without anything first to see if they need ketchup. If you can eat them plain, they are good fries. The burger and fries were wonderful.
