I was originally planning to order my usual gyro plate, but my server, Tanner (I know there's a Turkish version of the name and it's escaping me!), took the time to chat with me and walk me through the different dishes on the menu. Thanks to his recommendations and kindness, I decided on the Doner Kebab Plate -- and oh my goodness, the flavor was absolutely incredible. Beyond the amazing food, Tanner was warm, welcoming, patient, and happy to answer all of my questions. We got a few dishes from this Turkish restaurant and were really impressed. The restaurant is placed right along a canal and has indoor and outdoor seating. There is a wide menu even including other cultures including biryani. Everything we ordered was very fresh and flavorful. The meat was seasoned wonderfully and the chicken was cooked well. read more

Wasn't impressed. To make what could be a long review simple. Was walking distance from my hotel, so super convenient for me. It was dead in here, and should be it was a Sunday night at 8 pm. But you'd figure you would have some nice food? Right? Ordered the hummus plate to start and it was really forgetful. Pita was dry and not great. The hummus itself was very forgetful and I feel immediately after this was splaced my main course showed up. Which is a pet peeve of mine. Space them out a little. What's the rush? I was literally one of 3 people in the restaurant. The meat from my gyro plate was very dry. You eat with your eyes and it wasn't appetizing. Overall, maybe it was an off night. Been many years since my last visit to Zeytin and not for any particular reason as I recall enjoying it last time, too! The hummus was not only visually appealing, but also tasted great! As I was eating the Zeytin Kebab (house special), I realized pretty quickly it was exactly what I (aka "creature of habit") ordered last time! And just like last time I remember thinking it was just a bit too "tomato saucy" tasting for my personal taste. I didn't realize (both times) that "tomato" on the menu description meant "sauce" instead of grilled pieces alongside the meal. Also if there was "butter on top", I totally missed that part. Not horrible, but I'll definitely be trying something different next time. Service was great. Friendly. Somewhat slow, but I think we hit a shift change. Atmosphere nice. The patio overlooking the (small amount of) water might be nice on cooler days or after the sun goes down. Today it didn't really look all that inviting and maybe not even open. Customer service was excellent, splitting 8 bills and serving the food quickly. The restaurant was fancy looking and is good for large parties or romantic couples. The price for food was reasonable, yet quality of food definitely can improve. My order of Zeytin kebab was drier than expected, which led me to asking for more tomato sauce. Service: was great! I got here right when they opened, so I ordered my food at the counter. Not sure if I was supposed to wait at my table LOL but I was able to pay right away. I got my drink and appetizer very quickly. -not on the menu, but I got a chicken shawarma plate. It was AWESOME! everything was colorful and felt healthy and fresh. -came with chicken, -pickled pink veggies(I think cabbage and beet) -rice (so good, I always run out!) -and a cucumber/tomato salad. I placed a pickup order for several items but honestly, everything lacked flavor. I ordered the pita with hummus and the hummus had no flavor at all. Zero!! None! The falafels also lacked flavor so I really think this business needs to go back to the drawing board and focus on flavor and spices...something! The chicken rice dish I ordered was okay but again, it needed a little love and more spices and flavor because it was bland. When I went to pick up my order, not a sole was in there and I felt bad because it's a nice place (a little hot inside though...they need to turn the a/c on) but I hope they do well and make the few minor changes they need to make to be more flavorful . read more

We came here on a Saturday afternoon. I had heard about this Middle Eastern in the past. It is tucked away with some other businesses there at 114 and O'Conner. Upon sitting down and reviewing the menu, I realized it was Turkish Cuisine. We started with The Calamari. It was crispy and not too oily. We also had The Hummus. It was definitely fresh. The Shephard Salad was also tasty. We ended up splitting the Kofte Kebab. It was made of ground beef. It came in patties instead of the traditional skewers. It was grilled to perfection. The grilled Tomatoes and Zucchini were so good that we asked for another side. We finished our meal with the fresh made Baklava. Came here for a quick lunch post-seminar and was not disappointed. The shawarma meat is very tender and moist. It came with a side of pita, hummus, and a pickled vegetable salad. We've been back every time we pass through Irving, we always look for Vini as our server - just a highly educated and informative server with a sweet spirit. In terms of entrees, we enjoy the zeytin kebab, doner kebab, lamb beyti kebab and, for dessert, we always order the piping hot kunefe and Turkish coffee. We also find the Turkish tea and the red wine here (highly recommend a glass of the kavaklidere okuzgozu) more uniquely interesting beverage options. You could be the cook with years of experience and some time SHIT happens!!! He doesn't have the courtesy to check but has the bitchy attitude to tell that chicken was cooked to the perfection!!! I was super curious to cleanse my palate with a Mediterranean meal. Zeytin is a sit down restaurant. I did not have a problem placing a to-go order. I asked the server what is popular and he said everything. For my inaugural visit, I ordered the falafel plate. The falafel and rice was the proper hit temp. Always love getting lunch here. Their weekday lunch specials are good deals. I always get their chicken shawarma lunch plate. Their chicken are always flavorful. They give a good amount with their delicious pita breads made from their oven. However they sometimes burn it when they reheat them but it's not that bad. Service is always phenomenal here. And food comes out quick. Perfect for when I need to eat before work: The portion is a a good amount. It's enough for my lunch and dinner. The ordering process was confusing as there wasn't an employee that was directing anyone to sit down and get your order taken or if you order at the counter. Had character but a lot of mom and pop decor that looked dated and didn't go with the Mediterranean feel. There was dust built up on the ceiling tiles and the lights were turned off so only natural light was coming in. Seemed low budget. My food came quick but without utensils. So I had to go search for my own. Surprise they were back up by the counter and it is plastic utensils??? The gyro meat had a skin on it, possibly from being cooked too long. Not enough sauce on the meal to give the fries flavor. I wound up not eating all of my food and leaving as it was poor quality and a bad experience overall. I would not come back. read more

I will definitely be coming here more often when I'm at work. Located between the Starbucks and the Chipotle, is this little restaurant serving up some tasty Mediterranean meals. I ordered the falafel plate to go, which came with rice, 4 falafels, a good deal of hummus, a bit of salad and a pita bread for about $13. I was really impressed, I must say. I've been eating so much Mediterranean food lately and this was one that really stood out because the price seemed to match what you got and everything was fresh and didn't taste like it was sitting out for an hour. I tried this brunch restaurant which opened a couple weeks ago. The restaurant had a crowd but I was seated right away. My server was very attentive and brought out complimentary bread and olives which were very delicious. There is an extensive menu with mostly breakfast/brunch options as well as some lunch options. I tried the Zeytin Benedict which was excellent and the side of fresh fruit was very good as well. The restaurant itself is very charming. I recommend trying this place out. read more
