I see that it has been a couple of years since I updated my initial review, so it is time. We went here for dinner on a Saturday night. We arrived early so the restaurant was not too busy but it started to fill by the time we left. The ambience remains upscale casual with a gracious greeting as you enter. We were given one of the half moon booths that faced outward to the restaurant. I ordered the hummus as a starter and it was very good. It's a mild hummus without a strong garlic element. It was very enjoyable. The wife started with babaganoush and loved it. The dip was smoky and very flavorful. For entrees, the kid had the Caesar salad and ate everything except the croutons. The wife had the spiced meatballs and loved them. The meat was tender and the sauce was very rich. I had the chicken kabob and I was in heaven. The kabob took quite a while to prepare, but it was worth the wait. The chicken was well marinated and very flavorful. Best of all, it had a smoky flavor from the char, but the chicken remained tender and moist. It was phenomenal. I wish I could have that every night. It came with sautéed vegetables that were prepared perfectly. And it included a white rice that had a rich buttery flavor. We all enjoyed our meal very much and we were happy to return to this restaurant. I need to put it in the rotation more often. read more

Chefika offers a classic Turkish Mediterranean menu with hearty dishes and a great selection of healthy and delicious food to choose from. I visited this restaraunt for the first time and genuinely enjoyed everything I ordered. Starting off with appetizers, my friend and I ordered the pan shared halloumi cheese. This is paired with tomatoes and fig jam and is a wonderful accompaniment to the complimentary bread and olives served for the table. I'm a big fan of halloumi in general but this one was particularly cooked well and a must order for next time. For main entree I ordered Hunkar Begendi, which is sautéed marinated lamb tenderloin with red and green bell peppers over creamy eggplant puree. The lamb was in fact tender and perfectly seasoned and the eggplant puree went very well with the slight gaminess of the meat. I enjoyed this dish overall and it didn't feel too heavy, which sometimes is the case when I eat lamb. The pieces of meat were cut small enough while not being super tough, which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend this restaraunt if you enjoy trying Mediterranean fusion spots! read more

Beautiful interior and wonderful service. The atmosphere was inviting, and the staff made for a great dining experience. As for the food, I'd give it about a 3 out of 5. The cauliflower was easily the highlight of the meal as it was flavorful and well-executed. Unfortunately, the grilled octopus fell short. It was a bit tough, under-seasoned, and smaller than expected, so it's not something we would order again. We also tried the branzino and the lamb rack. Both were decent but not particularly memorable. The lamb, in particular, lacked the smoky flavor we were hoping for. The branzino was also lacking in flavor. This restaurant reminds me of a very nice European café with a beautiful outdoor patio and lovely indoor ambience. The music is nice and you can tell they really focus on creating a beautiful Mediterranean experience. The food is completely incredible and very unique. This is not your average Greek pita place. This is a restaurant that could easily be in Turkey for some European country. We started with the Mezza platter ( $29) - which included 6 different dips. It's pricey for an appetizer, but it is definitely worth it because it's so unique and flavorful. It was probably my favorite thing that we ate. Everything felt just a little bit overpriced for what it is. My baseline comparison is Hillstones and R&D, and this is definitely Hillstone's pricing, but not the same experience overall. My wife and I shared the lamb shank and the falafel platter and also had a side of cauliflower (which was incredible). My 3 year old had the kids item which was $18!?. it was all very very good. My wife and I had a glass of wine and the average price was $18. They also had no descriptions of what style of wine it was e.g. Cabernet Sauvignon. When I asked the server, he just recommended the Caymus. The service was transactional and something you would get at most fast casual restaurants. I get that a lot of the servers are not professional servers. For the mezze platter, it would've been helpful to have an explanation of what was on it. Basically they brought the food. They took our order and that was it. Parents: they have one kids meal which included four chicken kebabs and a side of either rice or fries ($18). The price felt very steep for a kids meal. Well dang, that was delicious. This restaurant is labeled mediterranean, but the menu was more Turkish as were the flavorings. They do not have kofta or any ground beef meats if that's the Mediterranean flavor you were seeking but they have some phenomenal ground lamb/ lamb options. Everything we had was layered in flavor, moist, perfectly prepared and oh so satisfying. The restaurant itself is open and airy, an ideal place for brunch or gathering. The service wasn't warm; it was cold and transactional but not pointedly rude. For excellent food and clean, open dining room with full bar and efficient (note the not so nice) service this is a must eat at 5 starts. read more

I've been here three times. Business lunch, personal lunch, and happy hour. I was so impressed with it as a lunch place. There is a reason I came back after all. The food is delicious and well prepared. When we came back for happy hour, it was kinda meh for the price. Everything jumped by about ten bucks from the lunch menu. I'm not sure if the portions change, but it was alarming compared to our last two visits. The drinks were kind of strange and expensive as well as the snacks. Went here yesterday for work and omg definitely have to try! Love that they have the bread to start, and then I got the lamb shank, it is cooked perfectly with the eggplant sauce and served with basmati rice. All the food was super fresh and flavorful. It all came out at decent amount of time and server was super friendly with great recs. The prices are on the higher end but their portions are pretty good. The lattes were decent, not the best, but glad they had it as an option. We went for lunch recently and had the most terrible service I've had in years. We waited 20 minutes to get water, 10 more minutes for our other drinks to arrive. They seemed understaffed; however, our server spent much of his time at the front talking to another employee. We had to flag him down from across the restaurant just to take our order and again to bring the check. It's like we had to keep reminding him that our table existed. My friend and I were craving Mediterranean food, and Chefika Cafe satisfied that craving. This is a really charming spot with stylish decor and seating. They also have outdoor seating, but it seemed to be closed for the evening. We arrived around 8 on a Monday evening and were seated right away. Service was quick, but it did feel like our server was rushing us to order. We started with complimentary bread and dip, then shared the hummus, which we both enjoyed. I wanted chicken but wasn't in the mood for rice, so I went with the Chicken Delight. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the eggplant and mushrooms that come with it. I will say that it was a bit too salty for my liking, but still delicious overall. (I am pretty sensitive to salt, though). Parking was easy, with a garage available close by. What a lovely place for an afternoon happy hour! We sat on the patio (which is dog-friendly), and quite comfortable. The server was attentive and friendly (even played with the pup who joined us). They have a happy hour menu, but we wanted cocktails that weren't on the happy hour menu (they were delicious and still reasonably priced). We also had a sampling of delicious mezzes. Below average experience yet fresh and lovely interior. Came by for a heavy snack and the standout was the free chopped olives that came with bread. All the dips except muhammara were flavorless and perhaps just old. Mezze was pretty but not as tasty as Cafe Izmir or even Central Market dip bar by a long shot. Where do I start? This was an amazing experience; maybe because we got there early right before the rush and we got lots of attention and it was great! We made a reservation the day before and when we got there we were immediately greeted, we asked to sit at the bar and had a great time with our bartender! When you first walk in everything is super bright and clean, blue and white with lots of glass and plants, vases, flowers, lamps, gorgeous! (I know, that sentence is out of order but whatever) The I ordered an old fashion and it packed a nice punch, my husband ordered a Modelo and it was served in a nice frosty glass. They brought us a little bowl of fresh popped popcorn and some Turkish bread with dip. It was so good we ordered more bread! We also got the beet carpaccio sprinkled with pistachio, it was so refreshing and light, with a gentle drizzle of vinaigrette. To layer onto our meal we got an order of the spicy lamb meatballs which were so freaking good I still dream about them! The real star of the show was the garlic shrimp, we used the bread to dip into the garlic juice and put a shrimp on it . . . OMG!! We ordered light because we were there waiting for our first grand baby to be born and we didn't want leftovers so this was perfect, but I am already looking forward to my next Dallas trip to go back and get a full plate! I was so excited to try this place as it's closer to our house. Currently, we are driving to N Dallas, to Sahara or Far N Dallas to Shiraz. Both excellent choices for Persian or Turkish food. This is a 2 1/2 stars review for the atmosphere being trendy and comfy. They are in the previous Tricky Fish spot across from Trader Joe's on Walnut Hill and 75. So, atmosphere is great, nothing really changed other than paint, table cloths and decor. They even had live music on Friday night. I was shocked to see tables available in both inside and outside on A weekend night at 7:30. We chose outside. I'd like to say service was good but sadly it was not. Turkish service is usually terrific so definitely a hard start. The wine list comprised mostly unheard wines and our waiter had no idea about any of it. The manager came over and we tried a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, Craggy Range. Decent choice at $56. Sadly, other than opening it we were in charge of our own service. Same with beers, one order and never ask again. Water was never refilled on our sultry Dallas night in August. And finally, the food... we started with the Mezze Platter. 6 mediocre spoons of sauces with salad garnish for $29. No bread brought or offered for it. It says crudités, but some spinach leaves and five or so thinly sliced carrots and cucumbers do not make crudités. Bland hummus is an insult for Mediterranean food. The baba ganoush was edible but again lacking all char flavor of the eggplant. A soupy pesto sauce, a jarred pepper sauce, and a stellar Mahmamar, (sp) sauce made of molasses and walnuts. In fact, only 3 items of note are that sauce, the complementary tapanade and a distinctly different rice accompaniment to the entrees were the only highlights of the night. The Hanger Steak kabobs were some sort of pot or chuck roast with glaze on it. The Adana kebab, ground beef go to, was edible but lacking all the depth and spice expected. We will continue driving to the better options in Dallas. read more

We tried this spot for the first time on a date night a few days ago and liked it enough to come back for Easter lunch. At first I thought the food needed more salt, but then it clicked... they're actually using real seasoning. I think I'm just used to salt doing all the work. Once I paid attention to the individual spices, everything tasted really clean and well balanced. The hummus is incredibly creamy and the olive oil is so good. Really enjoyed it. One small piece of feedback... I'd love to see diet soda options. It's usually what I look forward to when eating out since I don't drink alcohol, and right now they only have full sugar sodas. We ended up with still water, but definitely would have ordered drinks if they had them. read more

Can here for a belated birthday dinner with a friend. Unfortunately, they do not do anything special for birthdays and it seems if you come too early (5ish) for dinner that you don't get what seemed to be a complimentary glass of champagne. We tried both martinis, shrimp in garlic and baba ghanoush as an appetizer, branzino and the first lamb entree in the menu. Everything was excellent with the shrimp app and the branzino being our fav! There is a display for dessert and we tried the strawberry red velvet and pistachio cheesecake. Those were definitely a hit. Service is attentive, even as they got busy, she made sure to check on us as she could. She was also very patient with the fact we had a child with us. Much appreciated as he is a typically kid dropping things and what not. My only pain point was serving wine with a lot of sediments. When you first walk in the first thing you notice is pretty the decor. Its Mediterranean style is both elegant and inviting. The services was great, and so was the food! I got the lamb shank which was tender, well seasoned and nicely proportioned for only $24. It sat atop a potato purée that was also yummy. And then there was the dessert! The malaga was so good! It's made of chocolate, pistachio and banana. I have been waiting for them to have it available in their cake shop. The cakes are made fresh daily so you gotta grab it when you can. This place is amazing. The decor transports you to the Mediterranean. It's perfect and our server was amazing. She was so nice and answered all of our questions. When we were seated, they served us pita and a delicious dip. I ordered the chuck roast which was perfectly seasoned. The two people I was with ordered the lam shrank and they both loved it. For dessert, they brought out a sample tray so that you could see all the options you could choose from. We shared the Malaga cake which was chocolate, pistachio, and a banana. It was delicious too.
