The restaurant is stunning, very clean. It is newly open. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, they were also very quick to meet our standards. The food was very fresh and delicious. Small portions but absolutely filling AYCE! Please be mindful it's a place where you must not waste, there is an extra 25% charge for being wasteful so order accordingly!

If this pop up comes anywhere near you, it's worth it! I ordered three sandwiches including curry, tamago (egg salad) and strawberry. All were delicious. I still think about that egg salad one! As soon as it was planning to be near me I preordered as soon as ordering opened so I could pick what I wanted before they got low or sold out. They will sell out so be watching and order quickly! Look them up and order a sando!

Cute!

Highly recommend preordering! This cute, little, firetruck-red Kei car is at Francis Park next to the beer garden every Monday. I discovered them by googling "umeboshi onigiri near me." Umeboshi is picked plum, a really unique Japanese filling. My first time visiting, they sold out just when I walked up, so I tried the other types of onigiri on offer instead. Those were good, but didn't quite satisfy my craving. They also sell fruit sandos and other Japanese snacky foods. The guy running it is nice, and let me know I can pre-order on their website starting Friday at 5pm, which I did this week and got as much as I wanted! I don't know if 5 bucks a pop is a lot for "konbini" (convenience store) snacks, but the alternative is sourcing my own umeboshi and molding my own rice balls... I plan on becoming a regular customer. I know my mom got excited about umeboshi, too, so I'll be ordering for her soon, too.

Tried the veg pop up at Balkan Treat Box and was so happy I did. Had tried some of his yakitori at the Red Lantern festival and it was really good so when I saw this pop up I immediately ordered five sandos. The bread was perfect and all of the fillings were tasty and just the right proportion. I've had a good share of sandos from Japan to Houston and these were honestly some of the tastiest I've had. Nothing was over the top and it was a perfect balance in the Japanese way.

Izumi sandwiches are beautiful!! These paired with the adorable red food truck that they come from just make me happy! I ordered these a while ago and forgot to post a review but I have been thinking about them ever since. On top of how they look they taste awesome and the onigiri that Izumi sells as well pairs nicely with them! The all over care and kindness packed into these sandwiches are overwhelming and the owner of the shop is so sweet! I have ordered from Izumi multiple times and will continue doing so!

Try the Sando. You'll thank me. They're sweet and refreshing. Strawberry is my favorite

As someone who grew up in Southern California eating excellent sushi, and who has also enjoyed outstanding sushi in San Francisco, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, I don't hand out praise lightly when it comes to sushi. Sado exceeded every expectation. We chose to sit at the sushi bar and put ourselves entirely in the hands of the chef and our server, allowing them to select our dishes throughout the evening. Every single round was outstanding. Not only was the fish incredibly fresh, but each piece was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Our waiter explained that the fish is never frozen, which means the menu is influenced by what can be flown in and sourced at the highest quality. That commitment to freshness was evident in every bite. The cocktails were fantastic, the sake flight was expertly curated, and both complemented the meal perfectly. Just as impressive as the food was the service. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable dining experience. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, making it an ideal setting for a special occasion. Is Sado inexpensive? No. But show me a truly great sushi restaurant that is. It can't be cheap to fly in fish of this quality on a daily basis, and after experiencing the meal firsthand, the value was easy to appreciate. I've had sushi in some of the world's most respected sushi destinations, and Sado belongs in the conversation as a serious sushi restaurant. I highly recommend it, and in my opinion, you simply won't find better sushi in St. Louis.

We had reservations for 5:15 at the sushi and arrived 5 minutes early, but they wouldn't seat us until 5:15 on the dot which I thought was odd. Next time we'll be sure to get there right on time! Nonetheless, our experience was incredible. Our waitress was really nice and explained the menu to us for our first time in and gave us good recommendations. From our cocktails to the sushi and dessert, everything was extremely good and presentation was beautiful. I can't wait to come back!!

The waiter was warm and knowledgeable, telling us stories and background on the food and beverage we had. His father is the chef and his mom does all the flower arrangements at the restaurant. It's beautifully decorated and sophisticated. There were two of us and we went with the 4-course $100 Omakase, which had 2 options and we did one of each: Omakase Nigiri and Chirashi. The food here was delicious and I can't remember all the items I had, but it started with a Tsukidashi tasting followed by a soup. Between the two options, I would opt for Omakase Nigiri next time. The wine and sake pairing was terrific, which introduced us to so many new beverages. Dessert is a must, especially at $5. The matcha mousse was airy and fantastic. You can dine by reservation only, and it's easy to make reservations on Tock, but need to plan ahead. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2026

They were also out of the wine I wanted, so they gave me a pour of something else for free which was really kind. It's also very cute inside. The food was very high quality. The fish tasted fresh. The dishes were really unique and had flavor combos that surprised me (Japanese potato with beet stem and peppercorn, cucumber with cooked seaweed). A couple things to note: they played no music so it was very quiet inside, they're fairly heavy handed with wasabi, and it's quite expensive. Overall, a good STL experience with the cutest little fam running it.

While i was debating a 2nd bite, i found a long hair. I stopped at 1 bite but really, for the best. The miso soup only tasted of salt and maybe Campbell's? Very mass produced, salty. I did take 2 "bites" of that. The hibachi looked good cooking but the fried rice was so oily. The vegetables very bland - maybe my tastebuds were dulled by the miso. The scallops were decent. The shrimp were fine. The filet was ok but I'm not really sure it was filet and not sirloin. I passed on the yum sauce- i don't find it yummy anywhere. I got ginger sauce which was decent. The Teriyaki was briwn syrup - so sugary sweet with little other taste. I took leftovers, mostly rice and steak, but just shared the steak with my dog and ditched the leftover greasy rice. Overall, just disappointing. My dining companions were nonplussed as well.

We wanted sushi so we were by the sushi bar. Japanese cuisine is supposed to be about presentation and flavor. This was neither. I order the sashimi appetizer, shrimp & vegetable tempura, and fancy rainbow roll. My tempura came out in a plastic red basket. The dipping sauce was a funny red sweet and sour sauce. The tempura was warm, but it lack the light fluffiness. My sashimi was somewhat arranged in a plastic tray. The only thing that barely passed was rainbow roll. Note: I did try asking for something else for my tempura. The waitress brought me mustard base sauce.. maybe from the hibachi side. What ever happen to classic tentsuyu sauce made with dashi, mirin, soy sauce, and grated daikon. Its tempura... not chicken nuggets. Hubby had the salmon lover and 2 white fish nigiri. The bill came out to be $85... and was an experience i rather forget. Upside, neither of us got food poisoning. Needless to say, I won't be back. Thr food was not worth the calories or thr money. Maybe better luck at Wasabi?
