Last year when we were in Stowe, we had every intention of going to this glassblowing studio... but ran out of time. This year, when I planned for our return to Stowe, I was bound and determined to make it happen this time. So we were able to make it happen, and I'm so glad that we did. The owners have set up a separate viewing room, loaded with seats for viewing through a huge glass window, and no matter where one sits, they can see perfectly. One of the glassblowers comes in to call out what the working glassblower is doing each step of the way... and why. Very interesting and informative, plus totally cool to watch, even if we weren't being given the information. It was completely fascinating. Then, they have a lovely gallery of their work, and to be honest, after watching their awesome demonstration, I didn't have any issue with the prices being charged because it is REALLY DIFFICULT work, and they deserve whatever they are seeking price-wise. I bought my daughter and son-in-law a vase. I'm just sorry I didn't buy something for ourselves because we loved their work. I wasn't sure how to get it home, and for some reason, I never bothered to ask if they'd ship it. Duh. I guess that means we should go back next year and remedy the situation. Or I could just pick up the phone to call and ask them. Seems like more fun to go back to Stowe next year, given how much we love the area sooooooooo much. Anyway, make sure you avail yourselves to catching one of their glassblowing demonstrations. It is so very worth it... and make sure you buy something, too. They do such beautiful work !!! read more

Lots of fun, come by to shop for gifts or watch the masters/partners do their magic in the shop and walk you through the glass blowing process. I have such an appreciation for this work as I never understood the complexities of it! I now know why this art can be so expensive and is coveted by so many people and collectors. read more

Full disclosure, we were looking for something super touristy! Yes, this is it. You can show up to this studio, and take a seat at the back of the store. A giant glass window separates you from the glass blowing artists as they create... is it a vase? Bowl? no no... it s a bong! (insert series of inappropriate guesses comments and jokes related to blowing...). Guessing is half the fun of watching the process. And just try not to think of any inappropriate jokes while you watch! I was a bit disappointed by the price of the gifts in the shop. It would have been fun to bring something home, and they may be good prices for hand crafted artwork, but alas, it wasn't in the budget. Thoroughly worth the stop, and keep an eye out for the friendly dog that comes out to great you when you pull in. read more

This is a wonderful place! We stopped here since I had never seen glass blowing and it was well worth the stop. The glassblower is very talented and it was amazing to see him create a cup from scratch and then to see those cups on sale in the gallery. The pieces are on the pricier end, but you're paying for handmade craftsmanship and that is always worth it. Definitely stop in if you want to see glass blowing! read more

Stopped by and got to see the glass maker do his thing. It was really incredible to watch. It made me have a greater appreciation of his work. He sells his pieces right on site. this place is incredible - not only is watching them blow glass other-worldly but they were so kind to explain the process to us in a way that felt educational but also fun. I have been to other glassblowing establishments and not received this level of service & information - it was so impressive! Neat little glass blowing studio near Ben and Jerry's. Be sure to find the hours that the studio is open to glass blowers because we got there just a little late. The showroom is still cool but not nearly as cool as seeing an artist manipulate 1900 degree glass. read more

We first fell in love with glass blowing on a trip to Maui this past year, so when my boyfriend and I celebrated Valentine's Day weekend in Stowe, we were excited to visit this studio! Luckily the artist himself happened to be working the front area and it was a prior apprentice of his who was actually blowing the glass instead. We were the only ones in the store at the time, so GZ gave us a personal lesson in Glass Blowing 101 and a step-by-step explanation of what the apprentice was doing as he created a beautiful martini glass. It's mesmerizing to watch and amazing how you see the glass transform and take shape. GZ was very personable and we are so thankful for getting the chance to meet him and learn about the art he has been creating for over 40 years. What a fantastic experience! I highly recommend a visit to this studio, especially if you have never seen glass blowing before. read more

I visited a friend in VT a few weeks ago and of course wanted to do the standard touristy things. I called my brother on his birthday, which happened to be while I was in VT, and he told me I needed to check out this glass blowing place. According to him it was "super cool" and there's a guy who blows the glass while you are there. From that description, I knew exactly where I was headed. To Ben and Jerry's! And Cabot Cheese! And Vermont Teddy Bear! But okay, fine, I will try to find that place brother. Whoa am I glad we found it. It is this really nice studio that sells the standard fare: vases, glass blown fish with no purpose, candy dishes, lamps, etc. The kicker is, there's a guy who blows the glass while you are there! He made a vase while we watched. He is in his own enclosed room with a glass wall, sort of like when you watch your car being washed. And oh yeah, there's a big dog in there with him (perhaps a Rhodesian Ridgeback?) but I digress. He made a vase and it had all of these colors in it and was amazing. So of course, go to Ben and Jerry's! And Cabot Cheese! And Vermont Teddy Bear! But then go down the road a little bit farther and it is on the same side of the road as those other things. Basically opposite the cider place. I hate cider, considering my allergy to apples. So that is why I do not recommend it. Just in case you were curious. read more

It was fun to watch Glen Ziemke, the owner of the glass studio. He has been making glass objects for 40 years and it shows. The showroom is fairly small, but has a nice selection of objects made by the artist. If you're in the Burlington/Stowe area it is worth a visit. read more

This place is so cool. We watched on two different days. One day we watched the apprentice and the other day we watched the owner. They both did a great job. I ended up buying something the second day. The pieces are beautiful but pricey. When you watch them creating these pieces, you can see how much is put into the pieces and that helps to justify the price. Come check this place out. You won't be disappointed! read more

This is art at its finest! Glenn is amazingly talented and is a super nice guy if you ever get the chance to speak with him. Every piece of glass in his shop is breathtaking and is well worth the price. His assistant was very helpful in answering any questions we had and for explaining the process as Glenn started making a bowl from scratch. Great roadside stop if you like usable art and old world craft. The prices of the pieces in the shop were more than our humble family could afford on our day trip, but well worth a lookie-loo. We were also in luck and arrived just in time to watch the artist make a cup from start to finish. The shop clerk was very knowledgeable and narrated what the artist was doing. We got to sit in comfort and watch through a window while the artist worked with molten glass. They also had a informative illustration in the viewing room that explained what everything was, temperatures and what not. We were very glad we stopped (as recommended by the Ben & Jerry's Factory Tour web page "10 things within 10 miles". I just went back for the first time in a year - and during that year I started taking glass blowing lessons. Going back to check out Glenn's work with a more informed eye, I was WAY more impressed. This guy rocks at what he does, and he's so gracious and kind. When I told him that watching him work had inspired me to pursue it as a hobby on my own, he said it made his day to know that.
