Busy little place. Was very happy with our food. Staff were very friendly. Be patient and just enjoy.

Prices are a bit high, ~$25 for most breakfasts, $8 for 2 eggs, but I'd imagine it's expensive to get ingredients out here, Staff was friendly, it took less than 20 mins from walking in the door to having food in front of me, super speedy! Food was good too I had the chocolate chip pancakes. Two huge pancakes for $18, I couldn't even finish the plate. Wood tables and chairs with a gorgeous view of the forest.

We stopped here on our way home out of Government Camp (less than 15 mins drive) for breakfast. It was pretty empty for a Monday morning so we had our pick of the seats and decided to sit right by the window. I would describe the style as cabin getaway vibes. They have the main restaurant part and a deli section for grab and go things. There was also an upstairs area where the restroom was but I wasn't sure if it was actually open for dining (my toddler loved the wooden bear statue toilet holder! How cute!) There was a corner area by the fireplace mantle with board games that seemed very family friendly. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were told we can sit wherever. And water and drink orders were taken right away. I got the Lumberjack Breakfast special with the sourdough pancake option (available when they have them) and the sausage was super flavorful! My husband got the classic eggs Benedict. We got enjoyed our breakfast potatoes and I'm glad his came with fresh fruit! I haven't made up my mind about the sourdough pancake yet but I would recommend coming for breakfast here in our out of your way from your Government Camp trip!

Boxes stored everywhere, dirty glass, chitchat in the kitchen.

The place is filthy and disorganized. The air and walls are greasy and gross. Seriously overpriced. Food okay. Service mediocre. Four employees standing around chatting instead of cleaning or filling coffee. Avoid this cafe at all costs.

The slowest service around. Make sure you have over an hour and half of time around to wait.

Nice, cozy little place to stop for breakfast. Not much to look at from outside, but did not disappoint.

I really enjoyed my bagel sandwich with egg, cheese, veggie sausage, and garlic cream cheese. My friends got the sandwich lunch boxes and had good things to say about the sandwiches, salsa, hummus, and sweet treat. Also super yummy chai and stumptown coffee! Lots of customizable options here in terms of bagel and cream cheese flavors, sandwich toppings, and coffee syrups. You can even get cold foam on your iced coffee for free! Fernie's Coffee & ZigZag 4 Stars…read more Headed up toward Mt. Hood, I swung into Fernie's Coffee & ZigZag on a cold mountain morning, chasing a memory more than a meal. Back in the day when this place went by a different name and the vibe was more Hoppin' they made some of the greatest biscuits and gravy around. Legendary stuff. So naturally, I had to try it again. Good news: it didn't disappoint. I won't swear it's as good as the original incarnation (time has a way of polishing memories), but it's a solid second-best, and that's saying something. The biscuits were hearty, the gravy did its job, and I left full and ready for the road. The coffee? Decent. It'll wake you up, won't change your life, but it'll get you to Timberline without falling asleep at the wheel. That said, the place feels like a ghost of its former self. Sad to see the market closed that part stings a little. The building still holds the echoes of what it used to be, and you can almost feel the history lingering in the corners. Service-wise, there was a moment. The lady at the counter was BS-ing with some guy at the window for a solid five minutes or maybe he was just standing there, staring into the void but either way, I was ready to order. That little pause cost them a star. Still, for the price, the convenience, and the fact that I was in and out with no line while heading up the mountain, it earns four stars. It's good, it's familiar, it's just missing something. If they ever find it again, this place could really shine.

There's lots of different seating options. depending on your reason for visiting. They serve Sisters Coffee... definitely above average! All of the drinks are fairly priced. They also have a food menu with breakfast and lunch items. I tried the breakfast wrap and the peach salsa included was delicious! The service here is not fast. So... not a great option if you're in a hurry. But they seem to take their time in a way that meticulous and not inconsiderate. I did have to wait longer than expected, but without asking, the barista gave me a coupon for a free drink on my next visit for the inconvenience. Outstanding customer service! The bathrooms are clean. Parking is easy. And there's something undeniably comfortable about this atmosphere that's just right regardless of your mood. I was a bit disappointed by the limited menu and pastries and would love to see more exciting food options. Its quite basic fare on offer in that regard, nothing too gourmet or innovative. Still, one of the top cafes in and around PDX, offering a very cozy place to chat, work and/or grab a cup of good coffee! Def in my top 5 thus far!
