I live in Sacramento and met a friend in Lodi for dinner. We had read about Zin Bistro on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It was wonderful!! It located in a non-descript row of businesses on Lodi Ave. On arriving, we were quickly seated. The interior design is simple, modern and no unlike a small French Bistro. The menu is not extensive but with good choices of vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections. The prices are very reasonable the the daily special price was very reasonable. The wine selection focuses on local wines, but had a good list from which to choose. The bread was home made and had a wonderful butter taste with a soft crust. I had the soup of the day..chicken vegetable with rice. It was seasoned well and had a tasteful base. My entree was the pork scallopini with fresh green beans and rissotto. The beans were done well and the rissotto was cooked to perfection. However, the pork was outstanding. The preparation and execution would compete with any French Bistro They had a wonderful selection of fresh desserts. The service was excellent and it was nice to see so many locals know each other in the resturant. This is a true Bistro, that does it right. Lodi has a gem....you need to support it! read more

Zin Bistro is quite the find in Lodi, CA. Small with no frills, that's ok because you go for the food which is really tasty. My colleagues ate steak and the chef prepared a special vegetarian wild mushroom pasta for me. Nice wine choice, I love the Lodi Red Blends. Also, the service was great. Decided to give this place a try, since the reviews have been good. Went in for dinner and to check the place out. Ordered the kobe burger. It was uninspiring. A small patty, thought is was cooked to order. The fries looked just average. The bun had a crispy edge and was very nice. They have only one appetizer on the menu. And its a Bone Marrow dish? Really? If I had and appetizer, If they had more to choose from. I would have been there longer. That means I would have had more booze. There is more profit in booze than food. Are you reading? I heard that the other dishes are quite good. But I don't think I will return to try them. The service was great. I think they are doing as best they can with the limited Kitchen the have. But ultimately there small space and poor location will not be friendly to there future. read more

We came to this restaurant based on the recommendation of several people at Vineyards we visited in the area. While the food was decent, we realized after ordering that our server omitted to tell us about most of the specials, and when we brought this to her attention, she barely seemed to care. We most definitely would have ordered differently if we had known all the options as they were being brought to other tables. The other waiter in the restaurant serving the other tables seemed to be doing an amazing job describing the specials, that were not offered to us. Our bad luck. Good service can make up for bad food, but bad service just ruins everything. We most likely will not come back. read more

Last night my son and daughter-in-law took me out for dinner, it was the first time that I had been to Zin Bistro, it was nothing short of amazing! Today was the first time here and folks I'm not exaggerating but this place deserves some Michelin stars for excellent cuisine. We had the three course dinner special which came with a tasty, flavorful and healthy dark greens salad with crumbled blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. Then the main course was a pork tenderloin with Marsala sauce. Well my taste buds are still tingling. The pork was so tender and delicious and cooked to perfection. For dessert we had an apple cinnamon cake with a dab of whipped cream. My girlfriend took her time because she loved it and said it was the best part of the meal. Overall a great experience and our server, Brian, was an excellent host and so friendly and nice. This small restaurant is a hidden gem here in Lodi. I've driven by this place a million times. A friend and I decided on having dinner here last night and I can't possibly say enough good things. We got there at 8 and it was pretty full. Small place - maybe 10 tables. We were greeted right away and seated. I ordered the Swordfish, one of the specials. My date ordered the steak. Both were absolutely delicious. I tried the steak and the sauce was spot on and the steak cooked to perfection. She isn't a huge seafood fan but really liked my Swordfish. Service was perfect. Dessert we had strawberries with chocolate ganache - simple yet so good. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone wanting an excellent meal that's actually cooked and not just reheated or warmed up. We will definitely be back!! read more

I rarely order a steak, but tonight I ordered a New York steak and it was absolutely delicious it had a red wine marinated sauce and it was perfect. Not to be dramatic but it was the first steak I've completely enjoyed from the first bite to the last bite I was impressed by the consistency of my medium done steak. Combined perfectly with the Ironstone wine on their drink menu. A very savory steak for you meat lovers. The Lamb Shank there is also amazing it had the perfect texture to it. Fresh salad first. Then he had pan roasted chicken. Which was served with a light brown well seasoned gravy type sauce. I had the fresh fish of the day. Salmon cooked perfectly. Have always wanted to try monk fish (after seeing Malcolm in the Middle) and WOW. This was delicious! The bread was a light French style that was so good. We tried Zin Bistro a couple years ago. Wasn't very impressed with the food. We decided to try them again last night. I am giving them 2 stars because the service was great and I loved the salad dressing on the house Cesar salad. Other then that I wouldn't go there again. I had the nights special Sole over rice with green beans with a lemon sauce. The lemon in the lemon sauce was over powering and the sole was way over salted. I wanted to enjoy the meal but as I cut up the sole it made the rice even saltier:-/ My husband enjoyed another evening special steak Diane. I tasted his and it wasn't over salted at all which is usually the case with red meat dishes. So we tried to like Zin Bistro but the food wasn't worth the price tag..... except for the Cesar Salad.:-) read more

We stopped in Lodi to do some wine tasting and spend the night. This is a sweet little gem of a bistro. It is intimate and the staff is so friendly. My other half loved his giant portion of pork scaloppini and my fish dish was excellent. Everything on the menu was inexpensive $10 to $19. The wine list (and additional options on the blackboard) were all very well priced (mostly in the $20's). We had a nice bottle of proseco for $28. Quaint little gem I almost missed. I had the beef tenderloin which was prepared perfectly to order and plated beautifully. Only issue was that the cut was chewy which was totally unexpected. I was careful to cut against the grain, but it didn't help. I normally do well with this cut so was a bit disappointed when it bothered my stomach later. Other than that, the flavor was amazing, the sauce was silky, and the sides perfect. My waitress was prompt and attentive without being overbearing. The food service was fast as well which surprised me. I'll definitely return on my next business trip to Lodi! read more

This is one of our infamous drive bys, we were just in town and wanted to have dinner. Glad we got there at 5pm, it's a small restaurant with limited seating and reservations are recommended; they have a very loyal following. Food and service were great. Highly recommend the signature lamb shank. The blue cheese dressing was well balanced (met my wife's expectations) and her beef fillet was to order. This is one of those places that you don't want to tell people about, it's a "special little hole on the wall" that we like to keep to ourselves. We will be back. read more

This place almost has it, the vibe is almost there, the food is almost there, the decor is almost there. The wait staff is the only thing that is spot on, they were amazing and super friendly, and quirky! There's some things that this place needs to give it that "yes" vibe. First of all, bread and dipping oil, not thin sliced Italian bread with pre-wrapped butter, this place is definitely classy and they need some dipping oil!!. Second, and I hope this doesn't sound rude, but if you do a quick sanding on the tables before you paint them the finish lasts MUCH longer. Third, the fan on the bar counter has got to go, I know it's dispersing the AC but it's such an eye sore! I love the trendy decor, the food was fantastic but the portions of veggies were sparse, and so was the dessert, definitely not a sharing item and dessert is supposed to be for sharing!
